However, some users express concerns regarding the hard drive's limitations and the amount of RAM. A few also mention challenges with heat generation and operating system compatibility. Overall, the positive feedback on usability and performance outweighs the negative comments on specific components.

I love APPLE for their quality and performance, however, I have been extremely disappointed in this product. I purchased this item and had to return it for some clicking noises. I did an even exchange and now it consistently freezes up where I am forced to do a hard shut down. Unfortunately this laptop will be returned. For the price I paid I expect quality, especially from Apple.

I broke down and purchased a MacBook pro. Being the proud owner of an Iphone, Ipad and Apple Tv streamer, it’s safe to say I am no newcomer to apple. However, until this purchase I had been exclusively a PC man for my personal computing needs. Hopefully my observations will help some people still on the fence. Looks/Maneuvering: As I have found to be the case with most Apple products, the unit is beautifully housed. The aluminum materials used seem high-strength and durable. The solidity of keys inspires confidence. Even the clam-shell style closure of the screen to the base is down with a solid thump, with the top aligning flush with the base for maximum portability. It’s also fairly light which makes it great for carting around the house or taking with me on the go. It’s not as light as an Ipad, but far lighter than the laptop I replaced with it. Actual Usage: In the month since I have purchased it, I have been extremely busy and haven’t used it as much as I’d have liked to. However, I have found it to be so capable for the tasks I normally complete. Right out of the box I was able to log onto my home wireless network and start surfing. It boots up from a dead start in less than a third of the time on my pc. The clarity of the graphics is breathtaking and the unit is blessed with many ‘thoughtful conveniences’ that I have come to appreciate from apple. The backlit keyboard is absolutely wonderful, which, combined with the silent keys, makes it possible to get those last few bits of work finished in bed without disturbing the Mrs. Nice touch. I loathe the touchpad features of most laptops in general. However the one on macbook is worlds better. The different commands that allow you to highlight, rotate, flip back-forward(webpage) etc are slick and even faster than using an actual mouse. As well, the experience of the internet is worlds different than on pc. The way in which the pages are toggled, is very easy to use. Also, all of your pages are running in the background, so you can literally open tons of diff pages and never lose your place. A really neat trick is that your session will be saved even if you shut all the way down. All it takes is a few clicks and your session is restored. Best thing is you didn’t have to leave it in ‘sleep’ mode and drive up the power bill. Extras: As mentioned, I also have other apple products which means I can share files, photos etc; via the cloud. However, with my macbook pro, I can now broadcast my computer screen to my TV – in 1080p HD quality using the appleTV unit!! Now I get to enjoy all the free internet t.v. like Crackle, Hulu, Hi-Five and others, as well as my youtube favs, facebook, ESPN.com highlights etc. without leaving my couch. All without having to use my P.c. jack. It is all wireless. The ability to have so much content has even allowed me to do something I have been wanting to do for a long, long time. Fire my cable provider! There are surely an untold number of features on this computer that I have yet to tap. However, for the limited exposure I have had with it in my brief history of ownership I am more than pleased with its performance. I look forward to a long, gratifying experience over the next couple of years.

I purchased higher speed chip and 8 GB RAM. This MAC is super fast and the display is unbelievably sharp. Worth every penny! I use Numbers alot on icloud and can work seamlessly with my spreadsheets between this MAC and mi ipad. The OSX Yosemite is the best. Windows users: if you switch to Apple you will NEVER regret it. No more stupid Windows glitches and update problems. You will be glad you bought an Apple MAC. ENJOY !!!

I spent one whole day at the store purchasing , getting files transferred. I purchased the one year geek plan also, went home was on the help line with the geeks 4 more hours that day trying to get it up and running. The next day I was on the help line with 2 different geeks and they finally told me to return it because it had at least 7 hardware problems. I also purchased a HP printer at the same time and I never got it to work either. In Jan. I purchased a camera and was sold the wrong charging system for it. I have spent my last dollar at Best Buy. And Best Buy never refunded the money spent on the geek squad.

    Incredible Laptop, Worth it!!

I have always been a Windows user until this recent purchase. As I am about to attend college full time in Fall, I knew I needed a more portable laptop compared to the three year old, 17 inch HP laptop I had that would get so hot just watching a youtube video or short battery life of 2 hours if that I had to be by an outlet all the time. I was able to use my cousins laptop and fiddle around with the whole new Windows 8, the touch screen never appealed to me. I understand that for a phone but computer, not so much. That and it was so frustrating just to get to the start menu or anywhere for that matter, that I actually considered buying a Mac which I never thought would happen. This Macbook Pro is amazing, mind you all I do is surf the web, do college work such as writing papers, which you get iWork for free that you can type papers up, bye bye paying for Microsoft Word! Though you can get it for Mac if you want. This computer stays so quiet it is Crazy, my old laptops used to always be making noise even when I was doing something like surfing the web! The MacBooks are made with aluminum and the feel is impeccable. I am not an Apple Fan and honestly never thought I would ever buy a mac as I was always a PC fan. After the new Windows however I had to look elsewhere. Apple has done a fine job the switch is so easy, and the programs are so fluid to switch between and get work done. No more lag from Windows while it's thinking and thinking even in simplest tasks. The switch to Mac is super easy, this keyboard is amazing and I have used so many others in the past. No one comes close to this keyboard, and did I mention the Trackpad! I am blown away how quickly you can get from point A to B. Two fingers to scroll up and down a page with no lag! No more clicking on the sidebar to scroll. Even emails and notifications can appear in the right top corner, so convenient! This Macbook feels very sturdy, but not heavy enough to carry in a backpack for a long period of time either. I need to travel and 4.5 lbs is definitely light enough to do the trick. COLLEGE STUDENTS: Best Buy has $150 coupons you can use! I saved big time on this, $200 sale already for Easter and $15extra off, if you wait for the right time do so and save yourself money. This computer is worth the extra money by far, as it will outlast. I know friends who have owned macs for years that have outlasted any laptop I have owned. Another great thing about this Mac is that you can upgrade it yourself the RAM and HD to SSD. Saves much more money compared to buying the new Retina's or Air's that you cannot take apart if something breaks or you just want more power etc. I strongly recommend to just check out a macbook pro and see if you like it. Best buy has a 15 day return policy so you can take it back if you change your mind too! Peace of mind :)

I purchased this laptop because I love my iPhone and iPad. I had always heard about the awesome reliability of macbooks. I am tired of the apps that come with pc's that muck things up and cause the computer to crash. Unfortunately this laptop was slower than my AMD6 lenovo while searching the web and froze on me after downloading office for mac. I returned it to best buy and am considering other options. I heard someone discuss the same issue a few days later on a radio show. The host said that the mac books are not nearly as fast as the iPads.

I purchased a Windows PC and returned it that day because the first time online it was hit with viruses and other things that locked up my computer. I took it back and got another one and that had issues. I decided to purchase the MacBook Pro and I am so glad I did. I had it for three months and not one issue. It is fast and reliable. I guess you get what you pay for. Apple products rule.

This laptop meets all the needed specs for editing videos, high graphic content such as 3D or 4k, gaming and photo editing, etc. It's great for replacing a desktop if you want portability. The only negative I had was the weight. It's 6.24lbs, which is heavier than my windows laptop and other Macbooks. Even without the retina display (which only matters if you previously had a retina display model) this laptop is great. The price was attractive but in the end I returned it because I needed (more so wanted) something lighter & w/ more flexibility to carry on a plane in my tote bag vs a laptop bag. I would recommend this if price is a factor. If you check the website (I was more so stalking the site everyday) every few days the new MB pro will have sales. I managed to get the 8gb, 256 ssd model for $1199.99 w/ a PNY 128 flash drive for $19.99 (4 hr flash sale deal) to make up for the lack of storage space.

I have used Windows all my life. This is my first Mac and so far I am amazed at how smooth it is running. It is very user friendly and I absolutely love the design of this laptop. It is a bit on the heavy side so not the best if you need on to be on the move. It is better for a one location use.

I was in the market for my first apple laptop for a few weeks and wasnt quite sure which one was for me. Since I am a student and my laptop needed a disk drive, Macbook Pro was the logical answer. Then I was paying attention to Apple's WWDC when they announced a new macbook was coming soon. So I paid the few extra hundred since the older ones were no where to be found and got this Macbook Pro. I do not regret it one bit. The screen is beautiful, its very responsive, it doesnt get hot, and easy to learn. There is a little tutorial on how to maneuver around the screens and everything which is simple. For my first laptop I am very impressed. Even Standard Definition videos on YouTube look HD, while HD videos look spectacular. I cannot say how much I love this product, worth the buy!

Bought this laptop as a graduation gift for my daughter. it was purchased in 2016. Now 3 years later the control board has gone out and apple says it will be $475 to fix. Upon looking into further I find that the computer I bought in 2016 is actually a 2012 model. Why would I pay to fix this old model? Now my daughter is left at college without a working computer. Avoid this brand or at least this model!!!

This is my first Mac computer and I love it. I use it primarily to surf the net and for word processing, however, I love the fact that it comes with a whole bunch of other features and programs that I haven't yet explored. I love the look of the MacBook Pro and it feels like a sturdy durable computer. The battery life seems to be good so far and the quality of viewing images is way better than any PC I've ever had. I would definitely recommend it to anyone considering purchasing a Mac laptop.

I've been an Apple Mac user for the 25 years. I've also been a PC user for about the asme amount of time. I LOVE my Mac, but I'm not going to sit here and bash PC's. It's a preference thing and that's the bottom line. I've always really liked my PC's and have used them on an almost daily basis. However, my experience with Mac's has been less of a hassle and trouble than my PC's. That's just my experience. Let's get on with the review of the actual product. This MBP is fast, reliable, and loaded with useful features. The OS is super easy to use and not cumbersome what-so-ever. It's packed with useful ports, an SD card reader, an optical drive, but (NO HDMI). That is really unforgivable in this day and age. Of course Apple will sell you an adapter. All of these great features smashed into a tiny aluminum body that is extremely durable. I would highly recommend this laptop to a newbie and seasoned Apple veteran.

I recently had the new generation white 13" MacBook which was plastic for about two years. I still love that one, but I dropped it a couple of times so it was cracked, the white plastic would get dirty, and the bottom piece was melting off. So I upgraded to the MacBook pro and I LOVE IT. It has all the greatness of using a mac: awesome battery life, beautiful display, easy to use, everything is easily accessible, very organized, makes things easy because it tells you when to update everything, you can change all the settings exactly to your own preference, and does everything I need for school. (I use Microsoft office student for mac 2011 and it works just fine with all my schoolwork as far as compatibility) This thing is idiot proof. For the most part, If you've never used a Mac or have only used it once or twice, give it two weeks of playing around and getting used to it, and you will never go back to PC. EVER. This is based on my own opinion obviously, along with all of my closest friends who also now use Macs.

Bought this computer when there was 10% back in points deal going on and only received 5% back. Called customer service every 5 days being guaranteed that the points would be added to my account and now over 30 days later, still not there. I call customer service and they have no record of what details have been "added" to my account. Do not recommend purchasing any big ticket items expecting to save a buck.

I bought this laptop right before my freshman year of college because I had always wanted a Macbook because I love my iMac, but I wanted something more portable. Also at the time it was $100 off plus I used my student discount to get another $100 off. This laptop has not disappointed me at all. It was the absolute perfect school computer handling all of my constant use for long research papers and all night study sessions before tests. I love all the software included in OSX especially since the upgrade to Mavericks. It syncs perfectly with my iPhone and iPads just as it should and I love this. The ability to Mirror and push content to my Apple TV is great as well. The point is, this laptop is powerful, beautiful and amazingly capable. Parents, investing in this machine for your students will most definitely be worth it; I know I love mine. Also the fabulous two year Geek Squad Protection will keep me loving my Macbook for as long as possible in case anything were to happen, a VERY good investment.
