GLAD I PURCHASED
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'M A HUGE APPLE FAN. BUT WHEN IT CAME TO PURCHASING A NEW LAPTOP, I DIDN'T WANT TO FALL FOR THE "TREND". I WANTED A USEFUL LAPTOP THAT DOES WHAT I NEED IT TO DO FOR WHAT I PAID FOR IT. LOOKED INTO HP LAPTOPS. HAD SOME GREAT FEATURES FOR A BETTER PRICEPOINT THAN THE MAC, BUT I FOUND THAT THE MORE FEAUTRES I WANTED FROM THE HP, THE HIGHER THE PRICE GOT. LIKED THE HP, BUT SINCE I HAVE AN IPHONE AND IPAD AND I LOVE THE APPLE SYSTEMS, I DECIDED TO INVEST IN A MAC INSTEAD. GLAD I DID. I'M ENJOING IT. ITS FAST, LIGHTWEIGHT AND I'M SURE IT WILL LAST FOR YEARS TO COME. STILL THINK THE MACS ARE OVERPRICED BUT AS LONG AS I GET WHAT I PAY FOR, THAT'S FINE! WOULD I DROP ANOTHER 1K ON ANOTHER ONE IN THE FUTURE?? WE'LL SEE IN 5 YEARS!

Best MacBook I've ever had
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer is fantastic. It's ultra responsive, very sleek and the glossy screen just gives it that over all "Oh Yeah" look. Mountain Lion is fantastic. The new notification center on the side which updates you with Mail, Messages, Facetimes, Facebook and Twitter. I am a Graphic Designer and my computer at work is some 2003 Dell that is crazy sluggish and old. Trying to open CS4 on it was a nightmare. I'd take me about 8 or 9 minutes just for photoshop to open. Well with this beast I have CS6 and it's open in less then 30 seconds. Very very fast and easy to use. For Photoshop and Fireworks and InDesign the Multi-Touch Trackpad makes work flow and editing a breeze. I have been a Mac user for awhile and I must say this is the best computer i've ever set my fingers on, not to mention it's easier to set my fingers on with the Black lit keyboard and the soft easy tap the keys make when they are being used. It also works great if you're a iPhone or iPad user. Syncing and sharing info with iCloud is so simple all you have to do is just sign in, and I love it. I have yet to find any flaws with it and I doubt I will. I had looked at the Newest MacBook Pro with Retina Display and Thinner Design and I wasn't that much more impressed. It was sleek no doubt about it but not worth an extra $600.00. This Laptop is worth every penny and for it's price, It's a steal of a deal. I recommend it to all of you.

My First but won't be my last
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I always wanted a Mac but thought they were a bit expensive and since I just use a laptop to read emails and surf the web and nothing serious, I never really spent much money on a computer mostly because I'm cheap. But when it was time to replace my last Toshiba, and I could not find myself comfortable with the new Windows 8, I decided to go for it. I tried, I bought a new Windows machine and took it home - two actually. I bought one, gave it a try, could not find myself liking it, took it back, bought another, gave it a try also, and didn't like it and returned it as well. I decided to jump into the deep end and go for a MacBook Pro. I will say that right out of the box I had troubles. On setup it did not recognize my network and I had to call tech support. They walked me through some steps to correct the problem - there was something wrong with the installation program. There was also a bug with the brightness control for when you try to use the keyboard shortcut to adjust the monitor brightness - it does not work on my machine, you have to go into system preferences if you want to adjust the brightness. So I had two problems right off the bat with my machine, which surprised me because I thought Macs were supposed to be so perfect. Anyway, those two troubles aside, I am in love. This laptop just feels so amazingly more high quality than any I have ever owned before. Using it is so easy and pleasant. The screen resolution is unbelievably bright and clear - it almost looks too overly saturated sometimes if that makes any sense. I like how it is instantly powered up and ready to go when I flip open the lid. It feels very intuitive and it's fast. On paper, my work laptop specs are in several ways more impressive, yet the MacBook is faster, it plays video smoother, has way better sound quality, downloads quicker, and of course the screen resolution is astounding. I'm so glad I finally bought one, I love it, and I would definitely recommend one to those of you who have never bought one before. Oh, and it has probably the best touchpad of any laptop I have ever used, I never even think about wanting to use a mouse.

Awesome!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love my macbook!!! I was hesitant to spend the extra money, but it is well worth it! Easy to set up and it automatically updated everything. I am very happy with the product! I'm a junior college student and this is excellent! I did have windows 8 but Apple always knows how to win over new customers.

Perfect all around
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was stuck between the macbook air and the pro. I wanted the air for the weight, but the pro for the hd and storage capacity. I ended up getting the pro and I LOVE it. The weight really isn't an issue, i barely notice it. I am a student and getting ready to be a mother so I needed a computer that could store a LOT of pictures and do some minor photo editing. This mac is great for both. I am really impressed with the things just the track pad can do like swipe back/forth and scroll. They really thought of everything. My husband was against me getting a mac because of the price but he hasn't been able to put it down. It does take some time to get used to the program if you're switching from a windows, but it's SO much better. If you're stuck between getting the air and the pro like I was i HIGHLY recommend getting the PRO.

Sets up in minutes, fast processor, excellent Apple software package. This laptop is a powerhouse for work and play. Added Microsoft Office Student Version. Now I am good to go. If ease of use and enjoyable computing is what you are looking for then go with APPLE.

Great Computer!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although a MacBook is expensive, they are well worth the money. The 13.3 inch display is not too big or heavy to carry around a college campus and is not so small that it is hard to see or use. It is super fast and performs wonderfully. It's an investment that I would definitely recommend.

Excellent Laptop though not blindingly fast
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had Mac computers for 20 years, and while I also have Windows computers, my Macs have always run better. This is my fourth Apple laptop. I currently also have and use a 2009 Macbook, a 2011 Macbook Air (11") and now this Macbook Pro. I got it during the Black Friday sale this year, and BB had a awesome deal that I just couldn't refuse. For the price (899.00) it was a great buy. I purchased it with the intention of replacing the hard drive with a SSD, but was going to wait until after the holidays. Of course my Macbook Air has a SSD (but very small at only 60gig) and I wasn't surprised when it out performed my MBP when I got it. The Macbook Pro with the traditional HD is a decent performing machine, but there is no question that the hard drive really holds it back (as it does almost any computer with a traditional HD). I decided not to wait and added a solid state drive a few days ago, and, as expected the difference is remarkable. Boot time went from a minute and a half to under 20 seconds, applications open almost instantly. Back to the MBP, as with all Apple products, the design and build quality is top notch. The track pad might take a little getting used to if you're used to other lap tops, but is the best track pad in the industry. The display is not high def (or as Apple likes to say Retina), but is very good. The back lit keyboard is very nice and the keys have a very nice feel. One of the things that really sold me on this Macbook Pro (other then Best Buys great price) is upgradeability. This is the only Apple lap top that is user upgradeable and it is very easy to do. About the only thing you can't upgrade is the processor (which is still a very solid performing processor). It would be really easy to upgrade it to a terabyte of storage and 16 gigs of ram (even though Apple says it will only take 8) for less then Apple charges with the 512 gig SSD upgrade. Overall I think the 13" Macbook Pro is a very good laptop and could be great with the proper upgrades. Normally I would have given it 4 stars based on the MSPR, but with the incredible price Best Buy had, for me it was a 5 star purchase (not to mention how fast BB got it to me-ordered it at about 6PM on a Saturday, and it was at my door Monday).

Great Replacement for ANY PC
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before I bought me first Macbook, I used to buy Windows PC's. Let me tell you, nothing will ever make me switch again. The simplicity of Mac OS X is beautiful! You can be sure that a computer of this caliber will not fail you at any point. PC's are susceptible to so many computer viruses; I'm not saying that Mac's are perfect, but they're far BETTER than ANY PC! I have had my Macbook Pro for over 4 years and this bad boy still runs like when I first bought it! Now I want a Macbook Air because it will survive me 12 hours at school!

Simple, Fast, and Easy to Use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a new macbook pro for medical school, and so far it is everything I anticipated it to be. I love apple products because they are simple, fast, reliable, and easy to use. I replaced my macbook from 2007 (which was still in great working condition) with my new macbook pro because of faster speed, more storage, and newer software.

Awesome but...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are like me and can become a geek when buying electronics, then u are probably reading this review. I did tons and i mean to s of research. I also borrowed my sister's macbook air to compare it to my pro i had just purchased. So out od all the research i dis, this is what i got: This old Pro (2012 model) is still good for the 2016 user. I mean is a new computer out of the box but computers themselves were made back in 2012. It still had the cd/dvd rom and some connections that the air doesn't have. But in a nutshell, I just went back to college and needed a fast and good computer. Cant go wrong with apple products. Personally the disc drive, nobody uses that anymore. And when it comes to technology, u want to get the latest thing so i ended up returning it and got the air. That thing is a beast. I literally borrowed my sisters MacBook Air and ram tons of programs and checked ouf they work, how quick they were and battery life. The pro got really hot. Trust me, get the air. I would recommend this computer for someone that really needs the disc drive otherwise I dont. Plus, after returning it i got the Air and still saved $50. So the newer computer was cheaper than this older Pro. The Air was $150 off plus 100 off student discount. I had to. I'll probably do a review on the Air. I love the Air!!!

Awesome, high performance, compact computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using windows computers for the last 15 years and decided to buy my first macbook. All I can say is WOW! such a huge difference in how the OS X operates as opposed to windows. This computer boots up to desktop in seconds and everything is better organized. The processor is extremely fast and the screen display is awesome! This computer runs quiet and barely gets warm. What I love about this computer is that it will pair up with your other apple devices via air cloud, message, etc. Also the updates are just like you would perform in your iPhone and overall just a lot less stressful and time consuming than with windows. It did take me a few hours to get used to this computer and the Safari browser. I was also able to install google chrome ( a browser I'm more familiar with) and it works fine. The computer has a good, sturdy build and the keyboard and touchpad are solid. The backlit keyboard is another great feature as I work in low light often. I normally wait about a month or two before I do a review but this time is an exception because this computer is the real deal! The only thing I regret is not buying a macbook sooner. I honestly don't think I could go back to a windows computer. You won't go wrong if you buy this computer!

Phenomenal
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was trying to decide between an 11.6" ASUS that was being sold for $479 (and really happy I didn't go for this sub par model), an 11-inch Macbook Air about $900, a 13-inch Macbook Air $1000, and a 13-inch Macbook Pro Retina $1129 and non-Retina model $1200/$1300 I believe. So 5 models to be exact. I also tried other Windows 8 ultrabooks being a longtime pc user, but after countless research and trying different platforms and computers (even tablets), I have decided that the best way to go is ditch the Windows 8 platform (decent attempt but not hugely impressed and to be honest, their color scheme sucks!) and go for Apple. THIS IS MY FIRST APPLE computer and I have to say that I am hugely impressed. Typing using the keyboard is seamless and the overall feel is just great. Not to mention the keyboard backlight . I will be using this mainly for writing and some photography/graphic design work as well as excel, and I cannot wait to start working. I chose this model because: #1 - it is cheaper than the retina but still offers high quality design and display #2 - it will allow me to use adobe cs photoshop using the pro as opposed to the air which is not powerful enough to install it #3 - it has a built-in cd/dvd so i can copy all my cds into my computer without the hassle of an external cd drive. #4 - the 13 inch display is not too big and not too small either and perfect when viewing websites...i don't have to keep scrolling up and down #5 - it's just plain awesome! This is a good investment and a good starter apple computer for new converts who would like the get the best bang for their buck. Apply for the credit card and get the 18-month 0 interest financing. I also received an extra $20 off in addition to the already included $70 discount (that's almost a hundred dollars in total) Overall, I am happy with my purchase and hopefully my relationship with my new apple computer would run very very smoothly with no glitches or repairs anytime soon. :)

Very Hot! And Not in a Sexy Way!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So where do I begin so that the legions of Apple critics and fans do not view this as support of their narrow views? I will say that I am not into the Windows vs. iOS argument - I do not think Apple is evil nor that they have, hands downs, the best products. I have had Windows desktops and one laptop - and yes - I had the typical problems with them that are often used as reasons for one moving on to Apple. I had said that my next notebook would be an Apple, but never really wanted to pay Apple's steep price. OPEN BOX is the way to go - I got 10% off a returned MacBook that looks to have never been used - the power cords had not even been unwrapped. Then - as a student and an educator - I was able to get another $100 off the price. Still at nearly a grand after taxes, it was pretty steep when BB had PCs with similar or better specs for half the price. So, why stick with this? I want to find out for myself if this is worth the price and the hype. Apple's customer service is great, and that alone is worth maybe $150. I do very little on my comp - read the news, write some papers, watch a movie, play chess at Yahoo! So, I do not need it to be a power machine, I simply need it to work. And it does, very well, in fact. Processes are seamless -There is great integration of things like the email client, the Apple store, and iTunes - of which I have NEVER been a fan. I avoid iTunes on my iPhone at all cost - I use Media Monkey instead - But I can see how valuable it is on the notebook. I love how even the websites I use can be viewed in cover flow. I have had my MacBook for exactly two weeks; I do enjoy it when I can use it, but I have not yet decided if I will keep it. This is because the thing gets so unbearably hot, that it becomes too uncomfortable to use. My first day with this, I set it up, started playing chess through the included app –I was not even online – and within ten minutes, I thought the machine would burn a whole in my pants! I turned it off and rand to my desktop to do some research. And wow – what did I find! Yeah - yeah - I get that Apple says the MacBook should not be used on laps- I get that I should go into Activity Monitor and quit programs that have high CPU - which are NONE - as I am doing very little on the thing in the first place. Yeah - I get that all of the Apple fans out there have this way and that way - some of it costing extra money - to try to help my computing experience on the MB a more enjoyable one. But this is an experience I should have right out of the box! What other company makes a computer at this price that you cannot use for ten minutes without fearing you will suffer a burn? Now, before the fans come out and say, "Take it back, yours is defective," I will remind you that this problem has been documented all over the Internet. I do not want to hear I should update to Mountain Lion. I have already done the research, some are complaining that their MacBook is running even hotter after the update. A co-worker of mine told me that he had a student bring a MacBook to him that had a battery so swollen that the chassis started separating. Then I thought back to my own iPhone, which had to be replaced in January because of the same expanding battery issue; it split my phones case right down the back! How Apple sells these products in the numbers and gets the accolades they do is beyond me. Maybe it is because, other than this very serious flaw, they pioneer very good and exciting technology. You have the fans who will accept any ole shortcoming to remain loyal to what they think is a superior product. Then perhaps there are others who are in my situation: for the most part really enjoying what I have, wishing I could explore it more, but experiencing such discomfort in just trying to use it for basic computer tasks. This puts me on the fence, as I try to find solutions that do not require my having to dip into my pocket any more to use an expensive computer that simply should not run this hot, especially at this price! I HAD to answer the recommendation question below, so I will say If you do not mind the heat and/or dedicated to spending more money to make it more comfortable, I say go for it. Even if you are not, but you have been thinking of getting one, I say try it out for yourself so that you can come to your own conclusion about the overall quality and worthiness of the MacBook. As for me, I remain hopeful and very disappointed at the same time. I have a decision to make soon.

Great laptop for the price and the spec's
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I am not a mac person, but I bought this for my wife who is a mac person. She loves it (especially since her old one was 9 years old) especially the nicer screen resolution. The computer runs smooth and I know for her one of the most important things is that it looks nice, and has an excellent keyboard.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's hands on the best laptop, the best macbook I've had. After the cd rom is taken out, at 3 pounds it's just a tiny little heavier than the macbook air 13. The mechanics are clearly powerful. So is the battery, I can take it to school without having to charge the entire day! A full charge runs for 9 hours. I just love it.
