I have always been a PC person and was looking for a small laptop to travel with. I have a netbook but do not like the odd screen resolution and feel its a bit under powered. I was considering an 11 inch model but figured that a 13 inch would be small enough to travel with and would have enough power to use for other things. I always thought Apple products to be over priced, however, when you compare quality, specs, looks and design, the MacBook Pro to me was the clear winner. I wanted back-lit keys which quickly eliminated most of the pack. They are standard on the Mac. Also, it is a full size keyboard, not reduced or cramped. I would have liked the display to have a bit higher resolution and I plan on upgrading the RAM to 8 or 16 (Yes, this model will do 16) but otherwise, this little gem is everything I could have asked for. Most importantly, it even does windows which will keep the Mrs happy. Yes, it was a few dollars more but in my opinion, worth it. And, when you see people using laptops on TV, they always seem to be an apple so thus the sexy...think Carrie Bradshaw!

Bought this MacBook in late August for daughter as she started first year in college in Sept. Less than 90 days later, she calls and says she gets white screen. [similar to old blue screen of death from windows pc's ?] Computer won't boot !!! After googling symptoms and remedies, determined we had to take in for Geek Squad help. They tell us WE need to reinstall iOS at home as their network is so busy in store it could take a couple days. [what ? Best Buy doesn't have enough bandwidth ?] We take it home.... go through their instructions again and once again get white screen. Back to the store. Now they tell us they can trouble shoot and reinstall iOS [for sw installation fee >100$ !!!!]. They know I'm really upset so pretend to charge me some bogus discounted other fee of $40. Called me the next day to tell me the Hard drive is shot and will need to go to Apple repair center for warranty work. #even though they have the part in stock, they claim they have to process this as warranty and send the hard drive out for confirmation#. Estimated return 2-4 weeks !!! So I pick up the laptop and take to Apple store. They trouble shoot the problem and find the hard drive is not defective... they swap out the cable between HD and mother board. Viola !! Problem resolved. I will never use Geek Squad again. They can't do a simple failure analysis [A-B-A swap of suspected failed component#. Best Buy fails customer service in my opinion. 3 trips to store... and they still wouldn't admit they misdiagnosed problem. They also installed wrong screws in back cover. Apple discovered this also. Hacks. Disappointed with product #early defects... I always heard Apple's didn't have problems). Really disappointed with BB service.

This is by far the best computer I've owned. The switch from Windows to Mac was flawless and I've never used a laptop this fast

This thing is a rocket. No Pc could ever come close to the speed, ease of use, or the quality. I bought a toshiba because of the price in may'12 and got what I paid for. Just returned it because the battery life sucked and it was plagued with problems. Do yourself a favor and spend your money wisely and get a mac. It is a little more expensive,but it is worth it.

This is perfect for all of my school needs. I did not know if the transition would be difficult from a windows laptop, but it was sooo user friendly. Do not regret this purchase.

Got this laptop for Christmas, finally coming around to write a review. My wife absolutely loves this laptop. I was a PC fan but I must admit, I really like the Macbook Pro, A lot! I use it whenever my wife isn't around! The battery lasts all day on a full charge. Seamless operation with few hiccups. Seriously considering buying the 15" version!

All around the best MacBook for the average user. Still has the superdive and ethernet port. 500GB of HDD storage. RAM upgradeable to 16GB, despite what Apple tells you.

This is by far the best laptop I have ever owned. The Smoothness of how it operates is beautiful. I am definitely hooked on Apple computers but still hate their phones.

Purchased this for my son and am extremely pleased. Solid build and fast enough to please his online gaming needs as well as practical enough for school use. Perfect.

It does not get any better. Apple MacBook Pro 13 inch laptop. It is pricy - you can get a 15.5 inch Dell for under $400 but then, well, the Dell and anything Windows-based is really an inferior product. These Apple machines are amazing - well conceived and executed flawlessy. Little things like back lit keyboard. Even the packaging - it's not just a box that it comes in. The marketing and presentation of Apple products are A+. And the software and operating system - made for real people. So simple so easy to use. Try a Windows 8 machince for 2 weeks. Then try this Apple. You'll never go back to Windows again. Win 8 machine it took about an hour to set up a wireless printer to use. The Apple: I turned it on the first time, went to Word, went to print, the Apple found the wireless printer downloaded drivers and bam I'm printing in 5 minutes and I didn't do anything. The Apple PC as new I set up in 10 minutes. Then I tried to load MS Office Mac and, being an MS product, of course it took a long time. Two hours to be exact, and all that time spent on MS web sites and back and forth verification emails and useless nonsense. And you should know I am a PC MS guy from the start: this is only the second Apple product I ever purchased. First one was a Mac Air in May. It's so good we went back and bought another Apple bigger and with CD DVD. They are more expensive than Dels and Windows machines,but worth it because they are soooooooo much easier to use.

I went to the best buy with the intention to pick up a new PC laptop. I spent about an hour looking and was really disappointed with how large most of the laptops were. And then the smaller ones had low quality speakers which was a problem. The associate then asked if I had thought about getting a mac. I have always considered it, but didn't really feel like learning a new platform. Well, I took a look and after seeing how beautiful the macbook pro was, I took the plunge. It has been a few weeks now and although I am still learning how to use it, I absolutely love it. The computer is lightening fast, it was easy to transfer all my files from my pc, and the track pad works so well and makes soo much more sense than the PC pads. I also like the quick function keys for volume control etc. For those of you who are hesitant to transition over to a mac, I would highly recommend giving it a try. Google is always available to look up basic commands etc, and then best buy and mac offer courses to train you (which I plan to attend at some point). Good luck! Make the move and don't look back!

I was hesitant to switch to a Mac, but as soon as I began using it I feel in love. Faster than a PC.

Absolutely in LOVE with my new Apple MacBook. It is SO fast, easty to carry around and so easy to navigate. It is worth every penny spent. I will definitely stick with Apple. Picks up Wifi in places that my other devices dont. Great experience!

This is a really great laptop. It is a replacement for the original Macbook Pro which I bought in February 2006. It is faster and easier to use but the real kicker is it is $1000.00 less that the one it replaced.

I get tired of replacing a windows based laptop every 18 months to two years and was in my local Best Buy Friday 2/13/2015 looking a MacBook Pro's. As always I was blown away by the price of the units and when one of the salesmen told me he had an open box for $929.99 I gave it a little more consideration. When I asked if they would sell it for $899.99 he said he would have to speak with a manager, needless to say I bought it for $899.99. It has taking some getting use to but I have found that I like the operating system better than windows 8. I hope this unit last for several years at the least with no slow downs or hiccups like the Windows based software. I wished it had a bigger screen but for $900 for a Mac I guess you can't beat it.

I have been hesitant to spend the extra money on a MAC instead of just buying another PC but finally broke down and purchased the macbook pro. I've had this for 6 months now and I'll never go back to PC. Everything about the mac blows away the regular pc laptops. Clear display, fast, and reliable.
