When you work in the IT field you need to have a wide variety of systems to keep up. Apple makes a quality product that works pretty well. Arguing what is better between a non-apple system and an apple system ranks up their with talking about politics and religion however for you non-techies out there I wanted to make sure you keep something in mind. THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU NEED BEFORE YOU PICK YOUR MODEL! Don't pick the cheapest one and think you'll just upgrade it later as it's not going to happen. The RAM is not upgradable on this system, the hardrive isn't something that you can walk into best buy, pickup another one and then open a compartment and swap it out. 4GB of RAM isn't much at all if you'redoing more than web and word. 128gb of storage is not much space either (some iPods have more). So make sure you take into account that for over $1K you want to equip it with what you will need.

I got the most 'basic' of the 13" MacBook Pro Retina Display models and it really does perform well. I primarily use it for it's productivity suite and photo-editing. The only downside is Apple's Pages, Numbers & Keynote don't convert Office files perfectly but a small gripe and as I continue to learn with the programs, I find it as easy to use and powerful, if not more so than Office. I also user Aperture for photo organization and editing. I was concerned that this base model wouldn't have enough horsepower but so far so good even with my 16MP RAW files. Overall, I'm really glad I made the complete jump to the Apple ecosystem (iPhones, iPads and now MBP) and will be getting a 27" iMac once they go Retina as well...

I bought this from BB during Black Friday sale, not sure if this is worth without the discounts. The performance is great, after I switched off the backlit key settings to manual, it consistently clocked 10 hrs with full battery change

I love this computer. I bought it for myself as just a simple computer for school use. I have never owned a mac, but I am already in love. The insurance is a little pricey but I think it will be worth it in the long while since I'm very clumsy. Don't be fooled by the size of the little guy, it seems much bigger than it actually is. (in a good way, the screen doesn't seem to small to work on a variety of projects)

I upgraded my 11" MacBook air to a 13.3" Retina just because I got sick of having to squint every time I wanted to read something on the Air. I travel a lot, and was going between a 13" Air, and a 13" Retina,, and am so glad I went with the Retina. Yes the air is lighter, but, this laptop is small and light enough,, and the screen is drop dead amazing. Would recommend to all!

Im a grad student and switching from windows to mac I did a lot of research among many websites (Apple, MacRumors, BlackFriday to name a few) and Best Buy offered the following: 1) best price 2) free delivery 3) best buy rewards points 4) convenient online ordering process (didn't have to go to the store) 5) easy return if necessary (BestBuy does not charge any restocking fees as someone had mentioned online) I plan on using BestBuy more often for electronics and cell phone needs

I love the easy use and simplification in applications for the user. I learned how to use it really fast. I already own the mac desktop. Purchased this for school and business use. Comes in really handy, and my computers are in synced so I don't have to waste time sending and uploading files back and forth.

I agree on the overpriced aspect of the Apple computers but seems to perform really well so far. I am just a casual user so the performance definitely exceeds my requirements. Hopefully I will get my money's worth in a few years as long as it proves to be as stable as everyone brags about.

I bought this on black friday for $1100 and it is amazing. It was ready to use out of the box and setup was easy. I have always been a PC guy but I think this is much better and plan to stay with apple products.

i got this laptop 2 weeks ago and its been the best laptop so far would recommend getting the 3 year warranty from geek squad because if you pay so much for a laptop you should get a warranty and also i like the backlit keyboard because i work at night and i don't want to wake up my family so that is a great feature also i got the apple usb superdrive because i want to play games from a cd so thats why i got the apple macbook pro retina 13.3 in.

Cheap price with student discount. The screen is retina display and I don't need to worry about my eyes!
