After hours, maybe even days, of researching and deciding if I really need a laptop (already have an iMac desktop), I decided the portability would be beneficial and make me more productive. I didn't want to spend too much, so the 2016 model with touch bar was out of the question. I'm not sure if I'm ready for the touch bar, could be just one more thing that can malfunction. When I had tried it out at the Best Buy, it was more of a "wow, that's pretty cool" feature, not a "why did they not do this sooner" feature. I don't think the extra money spent is worth it, although I do like the space grey color! Initially, I had bought the MacBook Air, decent price, very lightweight and slim. But after using it for 2-3 weeks, I didn't like the wide bezel around the screen and the lack of retina screen. It probably wouldn't bother most people, but for not much more, I was able to upgrade to the MacBook Pro. More powerful processor, more ports, retina screen thinner bezel around the border of the screen. The cons would be price and .5 lbs heavier. I'm glad I switched, the MacBook Pro is very nice. It has 2 USB ports, HDMI out, magsafe charger and more. The newest MacBook does not have these. It only has USB-C ports, no HDMI out, and no magsafe charger. With kids running around, I feel more comfortable knowing if they trip over the charging cable, the laptop won't go flying into the floor! Oh, and the kids won't get hurt either. :)

We bought this laptop for our college daughter, it is very light weight. Great display. She has been a regular laptop user this is her first Mac, she said it is easy to use and she likes that this has the ports on the side.

This is the first Mac I have ever owned and it has exceeded all expectations. This laptop is fast, portable, and has a beautiful screen. Slight learning curve switching from windows to mac os, but overall a great product.

This is my first MacBook and I absolutely LOVE it! Best laptop I've owned to date so easy to use and love how sleek and light it is compared to the last dinosaur that I owned! The battery life is great too!

When it was time to replace a four year old Macbook Pro I knew which model I wanted--the newer models with the Retina display and SSD hard drive. When Best Buy offered those models for $100 off it was time to act. Very pleased with the purchase; even the smallest text is tack sharp. For my use the battery lasts an entire day. The SSD is very fast--the only drawback is that the SSD memory is soldered to the motherboard; it isn't user upgradeable so be sure to pick the model with the amount of memory you need up front. I can't remember the last time I used the built in DVD drive on the old model, so I don't miss the lack of one. If that's important to you be sure to pick up an external USB 3.0 DVD drive with your machine.

The quality of everything on this laptop is great and I have no regrets in this purchase. It is so lightweight and easy to transport. Though it has more features which are more detailed or complex, it is still easy to use or find a solution. It does not have a CD/DVD drive built in but an external one works just as good and is affordable at Best Buy (about $30). Speakers are loud and clear, screen is not so straining on the eyes, and the camera is high quality. Overall, an excellent purchase. **college students, if you sign up for Best Buy emails with your college email account, you get coupons through that email account. I used mine and there was also a Labor Day sale going on. Overall savings of about $80. Yay!**

Our twins are seniors in high school this year and we wanted to get them a dependable computer that they could take to college next year after graduation. Taking turns on the desktop wasn't working out well anymore with the heavy homework load so we bit the bullet and got them each this laptop. They have been telling me how much easier the computers have made their homework, research, printing, etc. The graphics are great, the picture is clear and it's easy to use and obviously portable. While they were far from the least expensive computer we could have purchased, it's worth the extra cost since Apple products are a great way to keep the computer viruses at bay. I would make the same purchase all over again.

Bought this laptop for my husband, he loves it! Fast, easy to use, light and portable. Easily synchs with apple devices and printers. Best computer ever.

Best laptop i've ever owned, the overall quality is very high, with the ultra fast performance, 6 hour battery life, and amazingly sharp and clear screen.

I got this laptop for my fiancé for Christmas. At least once a day since then, he tells me how much he loves it. It's lightweight and lighting fast--and the picture is stunning. Well worth the money!

This is my second time purchasing a MacBook Pro. My first purchase was in April 2011 and I was so excited to have my first Mac. I have had two PC laptops prior and they had issues with their hard drives, motherboards, and viruses even though I spent the extra money for protection. I had my first Macbook Pro for 5 years before it started to act weird and it has not gotten any viruses without having extra protection. It is light and easy to use.

This laptop is amazing. Easy to use right out of the box. No more waiting for the computer to boot up or having to deal with constant freezing. Slim, lightweight design allows for maximum portability.

The display is the selling point here. I am a photographer and was worried that the screen would be too small, but it works great. It is super fast, and the battery life is awesome. Highly recommended!

I bought this to replace my aging 2011 MacBook Air. I loved the lightness of the Air, and the quickness of the flash drive booting up the laptop. The MacBook Pros of recent years are almost as light and keep with the "solid" feel that all MacBooks have. Surprisingly, the keys on the keyboard feel "cheap"; not the case with my 2011 laptop. Just about everything else is identical, except for the Retina screen, which is like going from an old standard-def TV to an HDTV (or for the millennials, like going from HDTV to 4KTV, lol). Very sharp definition and seemingly brighter than the older screens. The speed and extra memory aren't really noticeable to me, as I do some pretty menial tasks on it (web surfing, code development), but I also do some math simulations on it for graduate work using Octave, and the speed change is noticeable but not OMG faster. Buying something like this is like buying a "starter" BMW; it's plenty of horsepower considering that this is the "starter" MacBook. You won't be disappointed. I felt like the much newer MacBook Pro with the Touch Bar was gimmicky and not something worth paying a couple hundred dollars more. I have a 128GB hard drive and if you use it for backing up your iPhone, store a bunch of pictures, and have MS Office and Xcode on it, you'll have about 15GB leftover, so be warned. Buying from BestBuy over Apple gets you better rewards and they price match so there's no reason to buy anywhere else if you can find evidence of the sale price. Combine it with a credit card that gets you 5% cash back on electronic store purchases, and you can get a great deal even if BestBuy isn't having it on sale.

This laptop is sleek, lightweight, and has an incredible display. Going from a Microsoft to Apple was a little jarring at first, but within the week I had no problem navigating through it.

I've used Windows all my life but with my recent focus on web development, it seems Macs are the way to go. This MacBook Pro is beautiful, with a great screen and powerful performance. Performance does seem a little slower than my previous Air, but I'm using it at the maximum resolution. Other than that, everything else just blazes, and it's so light I often have to check that it's in my backpack.

This is my first Mac, and I have to say I am impressed. Its so easy to use. Theres no extra complicated steps like in windows 8. The size is perfect, and very light. Everything works perfectly.

This is my first Macbook or any apple computer I have owned. I always hated how expensive they where but now I can see why, this laptop is awesome! Macbook pro is super fast and battery last me 10-12 hours on regular use. I would recommend to anyone looking for a laptop to last a whole day that is also super fast.
