Not Good If You Regularly Need an Optical Drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I moved to a small mountain town and don't have internet at home, thus my child and I use our computer to watch DVD's, to listen to my CD's, to sort through photos and burn them on CD's. I wanted the great Retina Display of the MacBook Air and thought the external optical drive would be sufficient. It isn't. For regular use it periodically fails to be recognized by the computer and the whole thing has to be shut down and re-opend, which is frustrating in the middle of a movie or when trying to sort through photos. After hours spent with the Geek Squad I ended up exchanging the Air for the MacBook Pro with the built in Optical Drive.

After 2 hours on the phone with their tech support, I decided I've had it. I decided to stay clear of that brand. I decided to go with a very reputable brand with a great support system. This is my first Mac and I love it. No regrets at all. It took a little getting used to, I have to admit, but it's been worth it.
