I've been using Apple products in school since I was 11. I just graduated and this computer was the next natural step for my first personal computer. I'm loving the retina screen and the power of the Pro in the lighter size. I can't recommend the solid state drive enough as well. OSX is beautiful and very user friendly. As always, if you can take advantage of the student discount on pricey computers like this, totally go for it.

This computer is really user friendly and I've enjoyed using it. I ultimately chose it because it has the Retina display and I'll be using it for working from home for about 5-6 hours a day. Another pro is obviously that it syncs with my iPhone through the cloud!

We purchased this 13" MacBook Pro for our daughter as a Christmas gift. As a die-hard Windows guy (not including Windows 8), I was skeptical about buying a Mac, no touch screen, no disk drive, no memory, VERY expensive. But I have to admit that the quality appears to be first class and configuring it to work with our home Wi-Fi network and multiple printers was incredibly simple. The reason I gave it four stars is that I feel for that much money, it really should at least have some of the features mentioned above. FYI - If you are a college student, make sure to ask about the $50. discount code that can emailed to you and used at the time of purchase.

Easy to use, lightweight and by adding microsoft office I can use it with my school computer too.

Love the sleek look but most especially the way it performs. Never disappointed with an Apple!

This is a great laptop. It still has USB portals, it's fairly lightweight, the retina display is gorgeous, the battery life is FOREVER compared to my old PC, and it links SO EASILY to every printer. AirDrop makes my life simpler, I love having everything on iCloud.

As a student - your laptop is your life. I had a sad laptop that wasn't doing it for me and knew I was going to be purchasing a new laptop in the near future. Graduate school tuition is demanding but this buy was worth every penny. User friendly and easy to set up. If you're on the fence, spend the cash for the best one your money can buy.

I will be starting graduate school soon and decided to invest in a reliable laptop. Although my Lenovo touch screen still works great, the battery started giving me problems and it also weighs a ton. After doing a lot of research and comparing different MacBooks, I decided that the MacBook Pro with Retina display was the best option. I opted out of purchasing the newer model because for the huge price difference, the few "new features" and "upgrades" to the display, touch pad, etc. just was not worth it. So far, I am very satisfied with this laptop and it is able to do everything that I need with ease. If you are a student, I would highly recommend purchasing from Best Buy during one of their sales instead of going with the "education discount" offered by Apple, which only ends up being about $50. I ended up saving $200+ and used that to purchase apple care which extends your warranty for 3 years.

It's a Mac...it works seamless. I like PC's, but always find myself reaching for a MAC. OS is great, bright screen, great keyboard, solid construction and SSD (Solid State Drive) Fast start up, programs run smooth even when multiple programs are open. I'm a musician/artist and use this for Photoshop 6, Ableton Live, Lightroom 6 and others...

I dithered for at least a year, trying to eke out just a little bit more life from my old MacBook Pro. But when its battery wouldn't hold a charge and I couldn't upgrade to the software I needed, I gave in and checked with Best Buy on what new laptop options I had. The Best Buy customer service rep was terrific at showing me the critical differences between choices, then left me alone to try out all the samples and think about it. He had recommended the MacBook Pro as the best fit for my needs and I ended up agreeing. And I'm so glad I did. I love this laptop! It's light and sleek, with easy and highly responsive keys (important to me because I type faster than many keyboards can keep up with). I curl up with it on a couch and somehow it seems to call out more creativity even than my desktop computer. The colors are brilliant and photos are amazingly sharp. All around, I'm delighted with it.

I am a graphic designer and was replacing a 2008 Mac Pro tower. I was hesitant to go the laptop route. I have no regrets. Even with this lower end MacBook Pro, it handles everything I thew at it. Only small complaint - I wish the RAM / SSD were upgradable. I knew they weren't going in so it wasn't a surprise - but would like the option.
