Having used Windows PCs over the past 20+ years, I must say that I was a little apprehensive moving to unknown territory. What made it easier is the experience I had with Linux distributions ( Fedora, Ubuntu, etc.), which I found fairly impressive, short of the issues when something would go wrong (get ready for a lengthy adventure in Blogville). In short, I had tried something other than Windows in the past, but found myself always going back for one word: stability. However, I have found that Apple has redefined this word in a way that has changed the way I view computing. What drove me towards the Mac is the fact that I spend every day editing 1080p HD video for our nursing home ministry. While I had a Windows laptop with a 5th Gen i5 and 16 GB of RAM that could handle the load, I found myself periodically rebooting due to the laptop lagging and sometimes locking up. I realized how much time I was losing during these reboots, and decided to see if I could do better - and I did. I have been using Adobe Premiere CC on my new MacBook Pro 13 for over a week now (daily) and have yet to need to reboot it due to sluggishness or the software locking up. Instead, I can leave Premiere rendering a 1080p video and surf the web with no issues while it is doing so. Why is this so important? Well, the fact that it has only 1/2 of the RAM (8GB) that my Windows laptop had is currently blowing it out of the water. As well, the 128 GB flash memory (essentially a turbo-charged SSD) allows for speedy booting, program launching, and file transferring (especially when utilizing USB 3.0). I couldn't be happier with this purchase! If you are considering investing $1,200-1,500 into a new laptop, I dare you to give Mac a try. This is the first time I have ever used a laptop that ran as smooth and as solid as its aesthetics suggest that it should. This is the first time I realized that there actually is something better - something reliable, stable, easy to navigate, and solidly refined by a company that listens to its consumers and gives them the best that can be attained. I am now, officially, on the Apple bandwagon. Farewell, Windows. It has been... well, see ya!
