Customers appreciate the MacBook Pro's ease of use, performance, and stunning Retina display. Its lightweight design and excellent battery life are also frequently praised. While some find the price high and storage limited, the overall experience is largely positive. The speed of the SSD is another frequently mentioned positive.

My first MacBook

I have always been a Windows user, never used a Mac before. At first, I was a bit hesitant to switch OS due to the learning curve of a new system but after going through 3 Windows based laptops within a span of 6 years, I decided to try something new, so I purchased this new MacBook Pro 13" Retina. I am so glad I did! Learning OS X was not as bad as I thought it would be. Same concept as Windows but different layout. I was attuned to the new OS in a matter of days. This Macbook is simply beautiful. The build quality is far superior to any of the 3 laptops I'd previously owned. The aluminum body feels smooth and looks elegant. Pretty light weight for its size. Keyboard is perfectly positioned for my typing needs. The Retina display is just gorgeous (probably the best display I've seen so far on a laptop). The new ForceTouch track pad is awesome. You can click anywhere on the track pad and it will give you the same haptic feedback (tactile feel) without really clicking down on the track pad. Crazy, but works really well. I can get about a good 9-10 hours of battery life with light web browsing, checking emails, light pages/numbers work. But did noticed a significant drop in battery while watching YouTube videos, coding, and performing what I've previously mentioned, I get about 5-6 hours before having to plug it up to power. Battery life is not too bad but it works for me since I'm always near a power outlet.
I know that MacBooks can be a bit pricey but you do get what you paid for, which IMO is the build quality and the experience of a MacBook. I never really got that with any of my Windows machine and don't think I ever will, since I'm not going back! :) Hope to get at least a good 5yrs of usage for my investment. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase.

I'll start by saying I'm not a computer person, I know very little really, and this is why I love Apple products ... very intuitive and easy to use! This is the second Apple laptop I've bought, this one replaced an old MacBook circa 2005 (still working!). I went back and forth on whether to get the MacBook Air or the MacBook Pro ... how much MacBook did I really need? The retina display of the Pro made the decision for me, I felt that it was worth the extra money. The touch pad has changed a lot in 10 years, such as the scroll working exactly the opposite of my old MacBook, but I still find it very easy to use. I love the slim design and how lightweight this MacBook is, overall I'm very happy with it!

Having only been a Windows user, I was initially a bit worried about making the switch to a Mac OS. To my delight, it's been extremely user friendly and the controls are intuitive. I'd recommend downloading the user manual/walkthrough available from Mac for free on iBooks and following each page when setting up your computer. This model is fast, a great size (I much prefer this to the 15"!) and the Retina display makes it easy on your eyes and great for photo and video editing. My experience with BestBuy was great and (when I bought it) they had the lowest price! I'd also strongly recommend signing up for the rewards program because after this purchase I now have $25 to put towards a case! Yay!

This is my first Macbook purchase and I couldn't be happier. This computer is excellent, fast, and user friendly. I see a difference in the time it takes to complete a task with this computer compared to any other computer I've used in the past. I would have to say this is one of the best computers I have had. The backlit keyboard is great and very useful when working in low light. The battery life is great and it charges very quickly. The computer is also very light and easy to pack and take along.

I had purchased a MacBook Pro approximately 5 years ago and it finally was on it's last leg, but in my experience the MacBooks really last a long time and are fairly durable. I love how light the new MacBook Pro Retina is, it even rivals the lightness of the MacBook Air. Aesthetics wise, the screen, sharp image, and clean lines make it a good looking laptop. I am using it primarily for school and I love how easy it is to use (even for some of my fan who aren't tech savvy).

I have owned several macs over the years. This is my 3rd Mac laptop. It's an amazing piece of tech! Super fast, great screen, insanely long battery life, thin and light.
Pretty much all the software you'll need is already pre-installed. It integrated with my AppleID/iTunes account/iPhone seamlessly. I was a little surprised when I was working on the Macbook Pro and I was able to accept an incoming phone call through the computer. Amazing machine!

Was looking for a new laptop that would be a workhorse for blogging, podcasting, and some photo and video editing down the road. Read a ton of online reviews and boiled the research down to a Dell ultrabook and the Macbook Pro. For audio and video editing, the plus with the Mac is it comes with Garageband preloaded so no additional software purchase needs to be made.
The device is well made, and is lighter than it seems (though heavier than the Macbook Air). Retina display is sharp and vivid. 13.3 is a good size, as my last netbook PC was an 11 incher and just a bit too small. With flash storage you get quick boot times and while Mac OS X is a bit of a learning curve, the preloaded help guide is very detailed and useful.
You will pay a premium for Apple products and while I only pulled the trigger since this item was on sale, you definitely get what you pay for. I plan to use this laptop as the main home computer for years to come.

Fried my previous MacBook Pro logic board with an unfortunate coffee spill right into side of computer. Replaced with new MacBook Pro (solid state) with Retina display. Impressive speed plus price match, followed by sale pricing which gave me extra $ back. Hard drive on old one was intact, so transfer of programs and data to new one I thought would be relatively simple process. First issue occurred with Microsoft Office for Mac. Needed a new activation code to reactivate, but because all codes I had were already used, system would not let e activate it. After three calls to Microsoft, because I had original program disc, and with help of Microsoft support rep, had to only spend an extra $40 to upgrade to latest program and got new activation code. At least didn't have to buy whole new program for ~$200! Second issue popped up on my antiviral program. It too had to be reactivated. Fortunately, I had three activation codes when I purchased it, so I was able to reactivate it without too much difficulty. Disappointing that I was not made aware of this when the original transfer was made to the new computer. Really happy with the new MacBook Pro. Best Buy aside from their own sales associates also had an Apple service representative in the store that made it easy to select the right laptop.

The 13" MacBook Pro is awesome. Bought it for my son who started college this fall and it is perfect for him.
Pros:
* small and light enough to carry easily
* still big enough to use...
* SSD means it's fast and durable - no need to worry about disk crashes from slightly rough use
* GORGEOUS retina display
Cons:
* more expensive than the Air (but worth it)

i have one of these at work and one at home. Best laptop ever. Great for netflix as the screen is so easy to view. Types well, battery life is great. Has all the usual Mac things. I use this for calculations too, installed and runs CERN Root for those that like that sort of thing and gnuplot. Lightweight. Great for plane and transatlantic flight and fits without problem in small backpack. It helped getting the educational discount. I have recommended this to everyone that ask me about buying a laptop as my first choice. If interfacing with external projector, the VGA adapter was about $30. Offbrand external DVD player worked fine as did normal 2 TB external drive which reformatted to work with mac, so did not buy more expensive "mac" compatible drives. I prefer the 256 GB drive as I have lots of gopro video on mine for processing, then when finished I xfer that to TB drives.

A friend actually purchased my Macbook pro as a gift. I had been using a toshiba laptop since my freshman year in college and I am now halfway through my Masters program. I had my toshiba for about 7 years so I was long overdue for a new computer. I am not new to Apple products but I am new to the macbooks. I think the MBP a powerful, awesome piece of machinery but I would not recommend it for the typical student like myself who is only using it for writing papers, doing research, and web surfing and streaming music. I recommend this laptop for someone who is serious about graphic design and creating music. That's really what it was created for. Heavy work and heavy programs. If you have some money to splurge (or have a great friend like me who will get one for you! lol) yes, I would go with the 13'' Macbook pro with retina! It'll last you awhile and do everything it was intended!! BUT, if you're balling on a budget like myself and a student AND you still really want an Apple laptop, go with the Air. It'll still get the job done! Overall, great product!

This is my first Mac. The last time I used an Apple computer was the Apple IIE in the 5th grade so I was slightly concerned about the learning curve switching from Windows to Mac. I was worried about nothing. I have had an iPad for a few years so using the Mac was fairly intuitive.
The computer itself is beautiful, fairly light to carry around, and very tough. It survived a fall from my kitchen table (cover closed) without a scratch. It is much faster than my last computer with a startup around 40 seconds and about 15 seconds to launch Photoshop.
The only problem with it so far is a recurring critical error when it comes out of sleep mode, which doesn't happen every time, but enough so that I am going to call the Geek Squad when it happens again.
Overall I am very happy with this computer and wish that I had switched to Mac years ago.

Someone robbed me of my previous laptop so I needed to buy a new one. I researched a lot and checked out a lot of laptop. I finally decided on the Macbook Pro. let me tell you this. Getting robbed was the best thing that ever happen to me. I love my Macbook Pro.
1) it works together with my Iphone and Ipad. so everything is connected. I get calls and text from my computer.
2) it never freezes or have problem opening up
3) work fast and have amazing display
4) I am a busy college students so am usually running around. and the battery life last a good working day.
It was a bit of difficulty in the beginning, because I never used a Mac before and had to get use to it. However, I really like how the Mac allows a person to change setting based on what he or she preferred.
If you are a simple person like me I would def recommend it.
Good luck =D

So, first I bought the 256gb Macbook Air-returned it as just too much money for what you get, even on sale for $999, and decided to get Macbook Pro. Then I couldn't decide between the 2016 or 2015 model. Love the weight and keyboard on 2016 base (definitely can't afford touchbar version) but read tons of reviews and 2016 base model sounds more like a Pro Macbook than a Macbook Pro and I need more power being this will be our only computer- plus was worried the new models need time to get those kinks worked out (read some models were having screen glitches) so I went with the tried and true 2015 256gb Pro-the ports and magsafe are definite perks to this model. Plenty of power, super fast which was VERY important to me coming from an old Windows PC, retina display is beautiful, so far so good. I feel the new models are just overpriced and this one gives you more bang for your buck and not being rich by any means that too was very important, especially on sale for $1299. My son and I both have enjoyed this laptop so far. He has even tested his favorite game on it-Rocket League- and it handles gaming just fine and easily connected his ps4 controller which will come in handy when we travel and entertainment is needed. Netflix and Hulu stream flawlessly as well. Will also be a great laptop for his high school studies. I have used it to access some work sites to get some additional work done at home and it's SO MUCH FASTER than my work PC. We are both still learning the ecosystem as it's our first Mac but have found it's not that difficult to learn. After looking at comparable Windows laptops, this seemed to be the best choice. Not much price difference and I trust Mac to last much longer without issues as I know so many people that have old Mac's still working just fine. I do wish you could upgrade these models later if need be but that is no longer the case as they are soldered in now which is why I went ahead and went for the 256 gb version. I feel that should be plenty of space to last us years and if not we can always use external hard drives. 8gb memory should be fine too-4 gb is not enough so I wouldn't recommend the 4bg model. I feel confident about my purchase and would recommend.

Started playing with the new trackpad on the display model and had to have it. Really feels like a physical button press... kind of trippy. I love the slim metallic case and the screen is great. Battery life is amazing as well (FYI I also came from an old dell. Coming back after a week of standby to hours of battery life left is something I'm just not used to.)
My only problem has been the heat/noise. When dealing with large projects in android studio I have noticed the fans start to get loud and the metal case gets quite hot. Obviously this is solved by taking it off my lap... just have to deal with the fan noise if that's something that might bother you.

I've had the 13" MacBook Pro about a month now. My 2009 MacBook Pro 13" is still functional enough but I just started college full-time (20 years after my first degree). The only decision I really needed to make was between the air and the pro this time around. Knowing I'd want true portability I assumed the air would be my better choice. The 2009 now feels like a brick and I sort of assumed the pro would still be significantly heavier than the air. Comparing the 2 in person (air and pro) it was almost no contest. The air is thinner and is certainly lighter, but the difference in screen quality (Retina display) on the pro along with more ports, longer battery life and better speakers (not to mention its just more powerful of a machine) had me sold. It's been light enough to carry in my backpack along with all my other books binders, etc for 3 classes at a time (I commute). And unlike my older pro, if I leave the house with it fully charged I don't even think about bringing the charger along for the day. My use so far is still pretty limited but I'm super impressed by the battery life. Streamed a show for the first time on it yesterday and was also incredibly impressed by the speakers. Again, all of this is in comparison to my 2009 pro but so far, I'm really thrilled that Apple kept the power of the pro and improved on all the features that usually feel like a compromise with a laptop. Great battery life, great sound, lightweight, lots of connection ports, beautiful display quality. Thrilled to have added this to my many generation long Mac family

I grew up using nothing but Apple, but at some point switched to using PC's. I've gone through 3 laptops in the past 5 years (including a Surface Pro) and decided it was time to switch back to Apple. I have an iPhone 5s and iPad Air, so I decided on the MacBook Pro Retina 13 inch screen w/ 256 GB to complete the set. I couldn't be happier with my purchase! Best Buy had the laptop on sale for $1424.99 and I saved an additional $100 for being a college student!! This laptop outperforms the rest in all ways. It is sleek, lightweight, fast, aesthetically pleasing, and easy to use. I highly recommend you purchase this if you are on the fence! You won't regret it!
