Apple has removed some hardware by not having a cd-rom. although at first this is annoying because you're so used to having it, the laptop runs more efficiently and cool. you can actually have your laptop on you lap. you do have to invest in the cd driver apple sells but i would just suck it up and do it.

I love my Macs. Although I purchased this one strictly for business and I already own a 27in. iMac, I initially went in looking for a MacBook that I could take everywhere with me. After really comparing both the MacBook & Pro models, I opted for the Pro 13" because of all the ports available on it. I realized I couldn't use any of my current items, thumb drives, my external HD, etc. Looking back I'm glad I went with the Pro, the MacBook is pretty but not really made for business use. The Pro is both small & portable like the MacBook but has the power of my iMac. Best of both worlds.

good laptop. the trackpad is great. the keyboard is really smooth and feels great. really durable and doesn't scratch easily with normal use. pretty fast browsing 'and startup. fan almost never turns on. can barely hear it. speakers are better than most other laptops.

My entire adult life I have used Windows and was concerned about switching to a MAC but it is Awesome! The system runs so much quicker and is smooth. Very easy to learn and adapt to the environment. Mac's are expensive but there is a distinct difference in the quality from Toshiba/Hewitt Packard, etc.

First Mac after Sony VaIO HP's and Toshiba laptops. Was told difficult to get used to but actually found it easier than I anticipated. Keyboard great, graphics excellent. Very fast. I miss a microphone input but was able to overcome this with a USB adapter. Wish that power cord could be attached right side as well. One annoying problem is the fact that the mouse becomes frozen for no apparent reason. This has been reported with the "El Capitan" operating system and an update is supposed to solve this but for a new laptop, very very annoying right now. The only way to solve it is to turn the power off , and whatever I was working on is lost. Fortunately it only happens about once a week but again, no obvious trigger and totally random. So far I have not lost anything that I couldn't fix/recover and restarting goes quick. I hope the upgraded software fixes it. I wish I would have researched this before buying but was unaware.

Great performance. Bought it for both work and school, it's fast and efficient, easy to use. Sync with my iPhone and makes it easy to operate. Great purchase!

Purchased an "open box" Macbook Pro and it is fantastic. In perfect condition and more than $300 less than the brand new ones sitting at the store with the same Apple warranty. There is no sign that it was ever touched by anyone before. Very, very happy customer.

This is my first Mac and so far I love it. There are a few things I am still getting used to. A few reasons why I am rating it with 4 stars: 1. In my attempt to import pictures and videos off my camera, it began to over heat and gave me a few error messages 2. When I convert my pages documents to pdf or word the page layout changes and I have to fix it on a different computer before I can submit it to my professors 3. The charger over heats every time and just now my computer overheated as it was on and charging, I had to stop in the middle of my homework to turn it off and use a different computer Other than those issues it is fantastic! It is easily portable and it is very light weight so I can take it to school, unlike my old laptop. I have had no problems with the battery or anything else. My old computer had the volume buttons and screen/keyboard backlight buttons on the keyboard as well and that is a feature I will always appreciated.

Does everything my daughter needs at college. She is a freshman and this easily allows her to check email from professors, log into wifi in her dorm room, and write papers for classes. We also keep in touch with Facetime. We have been very happy with this purchase!

Just had a MacBook Pro since 2007, so got this new one. The Retina display is nice, but not a game-changer. The speakers are much better, it's loud, with lots of room to grow the volume! Battery life real good. But the touch pad is, well, real touchy, and functions differently in different parts of the pad; I'm still trying to master that.

Battery life is awesome, new track pad rocks, very fast! One downside is the lack of Ethernet port but that can be fixed by purchasing the thnderbolt cable.

I was pretty happy with my Macbook for about the first two weeks until it started malfunctioning. By the time I was able to go to Best Buy it was unfortunately it was too late for a return (14 days??). The Geek Squad promised me the Macbook would be ready to take home in one day but it was actually 2. All of this is to be expected I guess, I just didnt think I would be going through this when I owned it for barely a month.

I've had this computer model twice in the last 12 months... I bought it when it came out, then sold it to my BFF, then bought the Surface Pro 4, then returned it for the Macbook Air, didn't like the screen so exchanged it for the 12" Macbook, good but not good enough, slowed down, so I went back to the MacBook Pro Retina... hahaha full circle... Yeah its a bit heavier compared to MacBook Air and MacBook, but performance, can't get any better for the price! Also, got really used to the new trackpad of the Macbook, force touch is so useful... I do miss the shallow keyboard...

This laptop is great. It is portable fantastic screen view and so far the battery lives up to expectation. Lighted keyboard is a plus.

The battery on this product is great. The screen is greater. The quality is the greatest. This is a MUST have if you are looking in the market for a laptop.

This laptop is the best I've ever had. It runs very smooth, is light, easy to carry and loads very quickly and efficiently. I'll never go back to pc!

Purchased this for my son who will be going to college next year. He loves it. Easy to use. Had no issues transitioning to a Mac. Likes the sleek look.
