    The power supply is necessary, and I had to replace a previous power supply whose casing had opened and exposed the wires. But it is expensive.

    Apple products are great, until they arent.. once they go bad there is not fixing it. Just replacement. Our plug lasted about 1 1/2 years.

    This is the factory laptop charger from Apple. Does the job if your original charger craps out. Pricey though. There could be cheaper options available online.
