Unfortunate necessity

I have had to replace more than once and now wrap these in cord guard materials to prolong their life.

This is the 2nd replacement

Apple Chargers Not Made to Last

Irritating, but necessary, wish a 3rd party would make a more durable charger.

Your old one probably started out not charging because some of the pins were sticking and you heard a little buzzing noise. Contact cleaner and some gun oil on the base of the pins will help.

Thin wires, weak connections, low resistance to the heat they produce, requiring kid-glove handling with no option for repair. You want the product it powers, so you're stuck with the junk that supports it.
