This review is mainly to clear up a bunch of confusion people have on a variety of issues and all the complaints I’ve seen. “What’s the point of a charger that connectors to your phone when there is a port on the bottom for that” - it magnetically attaches to precisely align the wireless charging magic making it far superior then most Qi chargers - physical ports with contacts wear out, get damaged, filled with crud, etc. “Why does this not come with the power plug! Apple is ripping you off!!!” - You mean like nearly every single charging cable in existence since dawn of time??? “Why can’t I just use my charger I have, why did they have to change the port to where I can’t use my old one!! Those evil Apple money grabbers!!!” -Firstly Karen this is ment to be a powerful fast charger but it’s only the cable, not the thing that provides the juice like the brick, it’s only as good as the brick it’s plugged into. And well your “old” brick is prolly some $2 Chinese special that is probably going to start a fire one day; That probably also already charges your phone at a ridiculously slow pace. And will be worse with this. -Secondly it (unlike most Qi wireless chargers) relies on the powerful “USB - PD” standard that’s only available on this USB-C connector type. Yes the old style has the worse but still powerful Qualcomm QuickCharge standard, but again your $2 China special charger doesn’t support that. “But the brick is so expensive” - there are many cheap USB-C PD bricks out there. Check out Anker. Chargers have always cost a nice amount of money it’s nothing new. And now that they are becoming more powerful and versatile it’s going to add a bit. But please continue to use your unsafe $2 China brick that could damage your phone, burn down your house, and even electrocute you. Buy a $2 charger for your $1000 phone. Do it. And no those are not wise tales crappy bricks can and will do those 3 things I mentioned. Will it? Well do you want to risk it?

Get's overly hot when in use for an extended period of time, but it does do the job well. Relatively quick charging rate, needs to have a correct case on your phone for it to charge through the case.

Really like this. Works great. So convenient to just sit the airbuds case down and let it charge.

MagSafe is a great design but has its flaws. Must use the 20 watt power brick for maximum charging capability but it’s definitely not as fast as plugging the phone in with a lightning charger. It does get a little warm and Apple has put out warnings in regards to this. I only use it at night but if you need a fair amount of power and quickly, I suggest sticking to lightning.

It works really well and the iphone give you instant feedback that it's working. My only question at this point, is this even wireless charging anymore? I mean how much time does it save you, you pry it off, etc. Overall I will keep it, i like it. Honestly, I think apple is going to get rid of the wired charging and this will be the future. So a good future proof.

great charger! bought the cheap version of this a couple months ago and it died on me within a couple months, this one is definitely worth the extra money!
