I replaced my iPad 8th Gen with 1st Gen pencil for the iPad PRO 12.9" with the 2nd Gen pencil. I LOVE the 2nd Gen pencil in comparison. First of all you don't have to worry about losing a cap because there's not one. The pencil itself is lighter and magnetizes to the case.

this pencil is definitely a upgrade of the first gen, it charges on the side of the iPad wirelessly. on the last gen apple pencil you had to plug it in on the iPad charging port which was a dumb design.
thanks God they fix it on this new gen and i can confirm that the response time has improve drastically.
the only thing i kind of hate is that they price it a little higher than before, like the old apple pencil wasn’t expensive enough lol

Love the new design. Charging by connecting to the side of the iPad is so convenient. Never broke my gen1 pencil, but I know many who did just because it got hit while hanging out the bottom or the charging port.

You know that one meme where that person was writing and flames starting appearing that how I feel about this APPLE PENCIL like I can fill out my documents with ease, like this how the Declaration of Independence should be written with this pencil is so good and it has features such as pressures sensitivity and can switch between the eraser they should make other colors as the year goes on

Easy to use and love the wireless charging! Bought this for my 99yo grandfather to use with his iPad Mini. Its a must have for seniors, it truly helps making touch screen devices easier to use for them.

I have two of these suckers because my niece loves using it so much while learning procreate and coloring on pigment coloring book. So if she enda up "accidentally" bringing one home with her, it's okay because we will always have a backup :) Its definitely worth having, so i turn a blind eye to the price. Meh.

This works exactly as advertised. I am a professional artist, and I happen to have both a Lenovo Yoga All-in-One and the iPad Pro, so I thought I'd do some compare and contrasts with their individual pens. The Apple pencil acts almost identically to the flow of an actual pen/brush—comparable to my experience to a Wacom Intuos Pro tablet. The Lenovo pen is a little less sensitive and takes some practice to get used to how it flows. The Apple pencil was very easy to set up; whereas I am still having trouble getting the Lenovo pen settings to work on my computer (part of what was advertised with the All-in-one). There is still some issues with errant dots appearing when I draw on the iPad Pro, however, I think that is more of a universal problem with touch screens in general rather than with the Apple Pencil itself, and I was able to mitigate it with a tablet glove.
The downside of both the iPad Pro and Apple pencil is more part of my own broad issues with Apple products in general: they are wildly overpriced (which is the major reason why I went to Lenovo when I was searching for a dedicated desktop computer). I'm hoping that with companies like Microsoft and Lenovo catching up to the level of drawing technology Apple is at, that may change. Overall, I'm very happy with the performance of the Apple pencil and I would recommend it as a valuable tool for artists.

This new version of the Apple Pencil is a great update from the older version. The magnetic side that keeps the pencil attached to the iPad has kept me using it much more due to the fact that it's always right there. The functionality is great and the automatic charging when attached to the iPad is light years ahead of the older process. As with all things Apple, it's definitely on the expensive side.

I use this with my iPad for nursing school! It has been so easy to use and take notes, especially at clinical. I love how easy it is to charge it and keep its charge between classes.

I use this on my iPad Pro 12.9” version, it works great, I love drawing and making stuff in procreate and using it to write notes, it charges very fast and is pretty seemless. If you’re in the market for one, you forreal can’t go wrong. The only issue is you may have to turn the tap to change function off, with regular use it was constantly changing back and fourth between drawing tools, and it gets quite annoying. But overall, really good

I have a first gen pencil for my older 12.9” iPad Pro and have learned to like it very well. I bought this one for my 2020 iPad Pro. If you have the newer iPads, this new pencil is a big improvement. The feature to switch to eraser is really handy. I like the length of the device more than the Gen 1 as well. I would say that if you have an iPad and the Sept 2020 IPadOS you need this pencil.

I bought this after test-driving my friend's iPad and Apple Pencil. I was impressed with the precision and accuracy of the pencil. It almost writes as well as a real pencil, minus the tacticle feel against paper. What's better is I get to save what I wrote for prosperity.
For example, I journal quite a bit with paper and pen. Now, it's with iPad and Apple Pencil. I can also save what I wrote and search for it later, as the app I use can search actual, bonafide handwriting.
Only complaint, and it's more of an iOS thing than it is the pencil, is that about 25% of the time, iOS guesses incorrectly a twhat I wrote. This leads to much frustration. I do traditional handwriing/Cooper calligraphy style-writing. Oftentimes, iOS thinks I wrote one thing when I really wrote something else. As a result, I have to print rather than use cursive so that iOS can understand me.
The Pencil attaches to the iPad via a magnet and charges through induction. The first generation Pencil was hokey, in that you had to plug in a physical cable to charge it.

Great tool for artists and creative people. Magnetic charging is super simple, battery lasts a really long time, smooth gliding over the glass on the iPads. The new pencil only comes with 1 tip. Additional replacement tips can be purchased from Apple. Although it'll probably be a while before you'll need to replace it. Highly recommended for all creative types using the new iPads that support the 2nd generation Apple Pencil.
