The second gen Apple Pencil is a marked improvement of the first. First there is no fiddly cap to lose. Second charging through wireless technology attached flat to the iPad, instead of plugged into the bottom and protruding out seems like a much safer solution, while also providing a handy place to park the Pencil when not in use. The instant connection via the wireless charging is moot has expected from the firs gen pencil. Battery life is excellent and augmented by the ease of charging.

This thing is absolutely insane. I would absolutely recommend this pencil to any aspiring artist or current artist. It’s really cool because you can tilt it to the side to create thicker strokes and double tap the pencil for eraser toggles. Would absolutely recommended for anyone into drawing. The charging is really great too. It literally just magnetizes to the side of the iPad and you don’t even need to think about it.

Feels much more like a pencil. Love the flat edge so it doesn't roll away and magnetic charging is smart.

Perfect pencil, pen, highlighter, paint brush, etc. I use it in conjunction with the 4th Gen 12.9” iPad Pro. Massive improvement from the 1st gen pencil, if only for the method of charging. One Does not have to stick it in the charging port, fretting that its going to break off..It’s magnetically attracted to the side and charges via magnetic field, or so they say... I’m pretty sure it is reverse technology from Roswell..:) J. Coulson

When I purchased my new iPad I mistakenly thought I could use my original Apple Pencil. Nope! Time to give Apple more money since they don't have enough. It is much easier to use than the original Apple Pencil. It is nice that it can charge wirelessly and does not need to be plugged into the charge port on the iPad. The price went up from the first pencil. It's Apple after all. I do recommend it and I use it 90% of the time I am on my iPad so I guess it was worth it.

    Improvement over Gen 1

I had the original Apple Pencil but didn’t really use it a lot. Partially because I didn’t have an application I used often for it and because it was something I would need to remember to bring. With the new iPad Pro and the new Apple Pencil it is great that it charges wirelessly via magnets on the side. This allows me to take advantage of the Pencil. I do wish that I could allow the Pencil to be stuck on the top or bottom of the iPad though. When I’m reading in portrait mode the Pencil is in the way on the side of the device. I don’t want to put it down on the table as having it with the iPad is very handy. The responsiveness of the Pencil is as close as you can get to a real Pencil on any device today. I find myself using this to mark up PDFs and other documents for work which helps save on the amount of times I print. Price is a bit higher than I would have liked but so far it has been worth it.

Pencil is pretty good but eraser needs work

This pencil is awesome because it allows me to easily write in legible notes and annotations in music as well as write for education purposes. I wish it had an eraser feature though where i could flip the pencil around and just erase like normal... while i do appreciate the double tap on the side of the pencil for the eraser option, i would use the pencil normally and the pencil would randomly change to the eraser option because the pencil is very sensitive to touch... i would give this product 5 stars only if the apple pencil had a fixed eraser mechanism or one like a regular pencil. Oh also this pencil is way too overpriced... like this pencil should've been maybe at the most $40 but it was a hefty $130... like it is just a pencil.

This pen is so lightweight and fluid and with the latest iPadOS 14 update, I can’t see how it could get that much better. I came from a MS Surface and the pen is $30 cheaper but DOES give this one a run for it’s money. Specifically the eraser being on the other side on of the pencil. I will say though in practice, the double tap feature of erasing on the Apple Pencil feels great when drawing. 2 weeks in and I don’t see myself returning this. Lol

I like the pen! It's got a nice weight to it and as much as people have mentioned needing a second separate pie e to charge the pen, it isn't that bad! It charges fairly quick which is nice so that I'm not left going multiple hours without my pen

The second-generation Apple Pencil is a fantastic upgrade with its seamless magnetic charging and refined design. It’s incredibly responsive and perfect for both note-taking and creative work. The precision and fluidity are noticeably improved, making it a joy to use. However, I was a bit frustrated that my older Apple Pencil wasn’t compatible with newer iPads, which led to this purchase. Despite that minor annoyance, the second-gen Pencil has been a worthwhile investment, enhancing my productivity and overall experience. It’s a top-notch tool that makes up for the inconvenience of having to switch from my previous model.

Slick way to enter data. Once I figured out the printing style needed, I have been very successful entering text by hand and having it converted to print. The pencil is artistically agile for drawing and editing. I'm glad I purchased the pencil. I wish it came with a clip so I can put it in my pocket without the fear of it falling out.
