Nice, but is it really a “must have?”

I’m still trying to reconcile the higher price. I actually do use it more than the previous version because of the ease of charging and the elegant magnetic connection to the iPad, but come on! This seems like a money grab to me. Functionality is fine, but not noticeably better than the earlier version. Why am I paying more for a fix that should not have been necessary in the first place??!! I mean, could there have been a more ridiculous (and un-Apple-like) charging setup than sticking this thing into the iPad at a right angle? No, I don’t think so. Still, it’s a great accessory - just one we shouldn’t have to pay a premium for, given it’s clunky predecessor.

2nd gen way better than previous version

Certainly there are some improvements over the previous version, the wireless charging alone is one of the most welcomed update. The accuracy has also been improved and the indent helps it not roll all over the placed when placing it on a flat surface. The price to me is still a little high though.

    New Apple Pencil

This is a better version of an Apple Pencil. No more taking cap off to charge. Nice that it magnetically connects to new IPAD and charges that way. I think Apple accessories are a little expensive sometimes but I anticipate using the pencil frequently. If you have a new IPAD, it is worth the investment to get the pencil too.

Expensive! But if you have an iPad cable of using it, it may be worth it! This def works well for taking notes and Apple's new feature where it recognizes your handwriting and turns it into text is neat to have. Also, if you draw on Procreate, this is probably the tool you will use. On the other hand, if you don't do these tasks often, I would not recommend you purchasing it. If you're in need of a mouse for your iPad, I would suggest the Apple Mouse 2, as it recognizes both vertical and horizontal swipe gentures, which help more when you're doing video or photo editing on the iPad on a stand. I suppose if you're hand holding the iPad, the pencil will help but at that point your fingers will work just as well. Lastly, if you don't use the pencil much, the battery does drain slightly and will require charging before use, but it only takes a few minutes to charge to for good working amount of power. Again, if you draw, get the Apple Pencil 2, if you do more administrative duties, get the Apple Mouse 2.

Fantastic stylus the only one you should be using with an iPad. It is a little pricey but if you do a lot of note taking or creative work it’s perfect.

You could say there are no buttons and the gestures are a little different but when it comes down to it this is a top of the line stylus with great response and fidelity. Attached(magnetic and charges on the iPad body. Couldn't be simpler. If you have an iPad pro and need a stylus, this is it. Only knock would be the price but hey, it's Apple!

    Apple Pencil 2nd generation

Using Apple Pencil second generation with iPad Pro 11 inch. This pencil is a huge improvement over the first generation. I like to get it charges in the case with the iPad, or just by sitting next to it. I appreciate being able to double tap in order to switch from writing to erasing (can be set to last tool used or color palette), but this can still be improved by Apple. I’ve also used the Surface Pro with pen and love how it works like a real pencil when you flip from the writing tip to the other end of the pencil to erase (think of a regular wooden pencil from elementary school or just a regular pencil—one end writes, other end erases). Now, if Apple allowed for that and still kept the double tap, maybe included a triple tap, as well, then one could easily switch between writing, erasing, using the last tool, AND color palette). I wish I could use my Surface pen with my iPad, but this 2nd gen pencil is still better than the first. I look forward to the day when Apple is not so stingy with what their products can do. Don’t get me wrong, I love Apple products, but I am not afraid to see what others are offering, allowing me to see what possibilities are out there. I think Apple is still counting on many of us to continue grandfather-ing from one Apple product to another, but even I can see Apple is not really evolving/incorporating the best of what’s out there. For what this Apple Pencil 2nd gen is supposed to do, write and erase and access palette, it does that. The pencil does not use the double tap in some of the store apps, like drawing, but the pen works with some of the Apple apps. The pencil is quick and easy to use; it is still ridiculously overpriced, and has the potential to do so much more (perhaps switch between pencil/pen/paintbrush; slide finger up/down pencil to change writing width or change colors or move from lighter to darker shades of color being used, ...). So much potential. Overall, the Apple Pencil serves the basic purposes mentioned above. The service I received at Best Buy from Tybris was wonderful. He answered my questions, provided options, and rang me up. Give that guy a raise, an iPad, and an Apple Pencil. I tried to upload a photo of the pencil but apparently the “file is too big”. So enjoy the review and be sadface there ain’t no picture to accompany.

The Apple Pencil 2nd generation is amazing! It writes like a ballpoint pen on notebook paper. It has a double tap feature that allows you to switch between the writing and erasing features of the Pencil. It charges very quickly, by way of magnet, placed on the side of the iPad Pro. It’s a little expensive at $129, but it’s worth it.

Love the upgraded 2nd gen. Recharges much easier and you don't have to worry about loosing the cap which was on the 1st gen. Worth the price especially if you are a creative pro.

Best Buy offers the best price for the Apple Pencil (2nd gen) and has frequent sales on it. This is my second pencil (purchasing it as a gift) and again, Best Buy had the best deal on it! If you're someone who plans to use their iPad to take notes and draw the Apple Pencil is a must!

I had bought and used a knock-off version of this, but there is no substitute for real Apple products. The magnetized charging is brilliant, operation is smooth, and I would highly recommend it.

At first I was very skeptical about making this purchase because of the price but it is easily one of the best purchases I made in 2020. It is great quality, supper easy to connect and use and it charges supper easy and fast. A definite must have you you are an avid drawer or creat on an iPad. Makes my job so much easier.

Ive had the previous gen of the apple pencil which was nice, but required to be plugged in to recharge. This one you are able to recharge by the magnetic grip on compatible iPads which is absolutely amazing. I like to be able to have both items full on battery so i dont have to wait to draw, so being able to charge at the same time without needing an extra cable and outlet is the best thing about this pencil. That said, i think the nib wears down way too quickly, especially on paperfeel screen protectors. I didn't have that issue with my previous pen.

There’s not much to say other than that it’s the Apple Pencil, it works very well. I love the tilt feature and the pressue sensitivity feature. i’m not an artist, but I use it for multitasking. It’s excellent for taking notes quickly on the go and marking up documents. When you go to make your next iPad purchase, I would just go ahead and pick up an Apple Pencil and if you purchase AppleCare at the same time, AppleCare will cover it if it stops working or it gets damaged. Definitely recommend.
