Customers are saying

Customers regard the product highly for its exceptional ease of use, strong overall performance, and efficient charging capabilities. Its excellent compatibility with the iPad, good battery life, and accuracy for tasks like drawing and note-taking are also frequently highlighted. However, the price is a significant concern for many, and some users have reported issues with the tip's durability and connection. While lag is generally not a problem, a few customers find its size to be a drawback.

This Apple Pencil is much better than the last generation. It’s built way better and is way higher quality. It’s also great that there aren’t any buttons or switches to turn it on or off. Another plus is that it no longer has the end cap where you have to stick it into the iPad charging port to charge the pencil. The pencil just magnetically attaches to the side of the iPad and keeps charged while also conveniently storing the pencil when not in use. When you take the pencil off the side, it automatically turns on and is ready to use. Very simple!

This pencil does everything id want. It magentically charges on the ipad, making sure its always ready to go. The battery life is incredibly good, meaning youll never run out of charge. While using it you can precisely write/draw, even as far as pressure sensitivity and angle detection. Overall a great purchase.

Better than  Pencil (1st Gen) in all facets!

I purchased the new iPad Pro 11" after doing very little research on it. Due to it having the upgraded A12X chip as well as including "Face ID", I was purchasing it regardless therefor I didnt realize I could not use my 1st gen  Pencil on the new iPad Pro. I honestly was bummed out because after finally bitting the bullet and purchasing the 1st gen  Pencil, I knew right then that I would never use a iPad again without it. Keep in mind that I am by no means a artist or remotely artistic in the least bit, and honestly cant even draw a decent stick man. I solely use the 1st gen  pencil as a basic stylus and writing utensil for taking notes, but I LOVE it and cant go without using it now. Well with all of that being said, I immediately went back up to best buy and purchased the new 2nd gen  pencil, and I honestly couldnt be happier with its improved performance, as well as the other substantial changes made to it as well. When I was using the 1st gen  Pencil, I would only charge it with the iPad tucked away somewhere safe and when the condition(s) were guaranteed that no one would get near it because I was so afraid of the lightning charge port getting snapped off inside of the iPad. The reason I bring that up is because the addition of wireless charging in the 2nd gen  Pencil is a game changer, and it made me fall in love with the Pencil even more than I thought I could, prior to owning this new one. Another small improvement I thoroughly enjoy is the new "Matte" look and feel, which considerably cuts down on the original  Pencils "Slickness" feel. One last tiny thing I love with the new  Pencil is not having the back cap that has to be kept up with and prob 90% or more people eventually lost. All in all, if your looking at purchasing the new  Pencil stop hesitating, and just do it..... You wont be disappointed. -John Posey

Good but the pencil can squeak during use

Back in October of 2021, I got the iPad Pro (12.9-inch) (5th generation) (256 GB) and the Apple Pencil (2nd generation). I was able to get a student discount because I have a dual enrollment at a local community college. My main reason for getting an iPad was to start digital art. I’ve never really done digital art in the past and have recently started using Procreate. The main complaint I have so far from 4 months of using these products together is that I don’t like how the pencil squeaks against the surface of the iPad. This doesn’t seem to be a problem for my friend, who does digital are frequently, with an older generation iPad and older Apple Pencil. I’m not sure what is causing the squeaking but the “nails on a chalkboard” noises affect the ways or motions I can draw with. Another aspect I’d like to see improved in future iterations of the Apple Pencil is the weight and strain from use. This isn’t a huge issue as using any stylus can cause hand strain but I hope the next generation Apple Pencil can be lighter to reduce pains from extended periods of use. Other than these problems, the iPad and pencil have been a great investment and have allowed me to create a lot of digital art. It’s very intuitive to use and the learning curve is definitely not as steep as its competitors (such as drawing tablets). My one suggestion is to extend the student discount to high school students and maybe have larger discounts for people who would love to use the product but may not be comfortable splurging. If there’s any way to reduce the squeaking noises, I’d really appreciate some advice. Thank you so much!

Not an artist - still use all the time

I am not an artist, who I imagine is the primary target market for this product, but the Apple Pencil 2 pairs so well with my iPad pro. I am a big note taker, and prefer to write versus typing when doodling or jotting down thoughts. I am constantly writing notes with this thing, and even finding myself actually drawing! I have no artistic ability, but this makes me want to keep playing with all that it can do on these powerful iPad pros. Plenty of people say they get this and don't use this as much as they thought they would have, but for me, I keep this with my iPad all the time and use it more than I thought I would.

The pencil works great, but for some reason, this is the 3rd one I have had to purchase in the last 12 months, because the tip just breaks off and is not under warranty. I have had pencils every since they came out, but this one is not very sturdy. You got to have it to use your Ipad.

I absolutely love Apple Pencils; they have amazing longevity as long as you treat them well, make drawing on tablets so much easier, and it's 100% worth it to spend the money on a quality product than spend less on an off brand. My original lasted for two years, and would have lasted longer if it wasn't for the fact that my dominant hand needs surgery. The muscle spasms have resulted in the poor thing being dropped multiple times, and one of the incidents put a decent sized crack in the barrel, resulting in it not being as responsive. As an artist, I wanted to replace it ASAP and I knew I wasn't going to buy anything but another Apple Pencil.

Its good, hardly any lag but just overpriced in my opinion, then again I never really went with another product to test if it'd be as good. I got this to help with school and it does, makes it easy to highlight stuff in my online textbooks, other than that I don't really utilize it to its full potential.

This thing is amazing. My daughter uses the pencil with her ipad air and photoshop for drawing. It is amazing the creations she is able to make. The charging is quick and simple just by connecting it magnetically to the ipad. Using it is super easy and took my daughter who is autistic all of 1 hour to figure out. This saved us hundreds vs getting a separate specialized drawing tablet.

I absolutely love this sucker! I decided to purchase it when I wanted to start taking notes digitally to reduce my desk clutter, and try out digital planners over the paper planners. I love that I can rest my hand on the screen, write like I normally would, and charge it easily when necessary. It fits comfortably in my hand, and overall is extremely easy and natural to use. The double-tap to switch from writing to erasing is my most-used feature. Highly recommend this pencil!

I really like the Apple Pencil in comparison to any other tablet or computer stylus I’ve ever used. I use the pencil mainly with ProCreate or note taking. I think the pencil really works and feels best when you add a matte screen protector on your iPad. The pencil immediately connects to your iPad once you place it on the magnet. It has a really good battery life, too. It can be a little uncomfortable to hold though after using for many hours. Grips do exist, however, it’s difficult to find a good one since it still needs to attach to the iPad to charge.
