Never was a big fan of the original Apple Pencil. Too clunky, cheap feeling, and the charging was just goofy. This generation of the Pencil takes care of those things. Wireless charging with a magnet to keep it in place is a fantastic feature! Tracks very well with iPad Pro, feels like writing with a real pen. Love it for taking notes, etc.

The pen 2 is soo much better than the 1. The magnetic charging means you don’t have to constantly plug it in and it’s always ready to use. Great sensitivity and versatility and the double tap button works well.

This works exactly as it is advertised. It feels like you are using a pencil, except with the iPad Air it is even easier than paper to fix mistakes and be precise with your creations.

Love this Apple Pencil! When you use it for drawing, it helps color the smallest detail and also help with writing if you don’t enjoy the typing experience on the ipad. Honestly, best accessory.

As light as a real pencil and yet will write on my iPad like a real pencil! It works like a mouse as it can be tapped for functions and yet the screen is so sensitive to its being applied like a real pencil. Choose if it is a pen, a marker, a pencil, broad tip, narrow, colors - the sky is the limit!

Magnetic sticking to side of ipad for charging

You need an Apple pencil. Just get one. This one happens to be improved over the original in two ways. One, it sticks to side of the new iPad, to charge, and so you don't lose it. Which also means not losing the silly cap. And second, it has a new eraser and pressure function. Very Cool. You won't use it constantly, unless you can figure out how.

If you like to hand write more than type, or if you use apps for drawing , architecture, photo touch ups, etc. the pen is absolutely a must have. It is far better than the older iterations of the Apple Pencil . This is smooth and feels like an excellent high end ink or gel pen on smooth paper

It works and does what it’s supposed to. It’s very smooth. The charging to the iPad is fine. I just dislike I can loose it. Different taps you can do with the pencil

The pencil itself was fantastic. I really loved drawing on my iPad and I loved the charging orientation vs the first gen. The problem is, after a couple of years my pencil stopped charging and pairing with my iPad all together. I took it to Apple and they said they don’t really trouble shoot Apple pencils, they just tell you to get a new one. I did that and about two weeks later the new Apple Pencil stopped working as well. I took it to the store, they told me it was the Apple Pencil, yadda yadda. Essentially telling me that if these pencils sit in stock too long, their batteries can “go bad” even if they are new out of the package. So after returning the last one I decided to try my luck one more time, I bought one more Apple Pencil and guess what! The same exact thing happened after two -three weeks. I’ve been told over and over that it’s not my iPad and that it’s the pencils. I’m inclined to believe this because I’ve since bought a knock-off pencil and I haven’t had any trouble with it. I can’t use it for drawing because of the lack of pen pressure but at least I can do my schoolwork. Really disappointed because like I said, the Apple Pencil was wonderful when it was working and I did get a good few years off the first one.

This is pretty similar to the first gen pencil. It’s a little lighter and shorter, so I prefer the older gen actually, I just can’t use it with my new gen iPad Pro. I wish they had made the old pencil compatible. I also am not a fan of how easily this knocks off the side of the iPad even when it’s locked in to its “sweet spot”. I suppose it’s a better charging system than the first gen pencil though. I lost the cap on the old one a ton and you don’t have to worry about that at all with this. I don’t recommend you travel with the pencil attached to the magnetic side charger. It gets knocked off super easy and then that’s $120 down the toilet.

A bit expensive, but you're paying for seamlessness and ease of use. Latency is basically instantaneous when writing and being able to attach the pencil to the actual iPad is very convenient. Maybe wait for the Apple Pencil 3? This one released in 2018 so I believe an update is due any time soon.

I’m a visual learner and having this paired with my iPad, makes for easy multiple colors in my notes and highlighting without having to dig through my bag and wasting more time looking than paying attention to my class. This is the perfect accessory for someone who wants to reduce their paper output.
