You don’t need it for your iPad but it does enhance the experience. Definitely recommend it.

I’m so glad that you can charge it just by attaching it to the iPad. So much better.

Easy to Pair! Necessary for Newer Ipad Pros!

It's super easy to pair, just set it on top, open bluetooth settings, then to charge touch it magnetically to the side. I find a case with a groove made for it that it works well with. As for function, it works great same as the apple pencil 1, but i think pressure sensitivity is slightly better. Fits the same grips that the previous model did even though it's slightly shorter cause it doesn't have the charging connector on the end.
