Geek Squad can’t identify a defective battery?!?

When I opened the package and turned on the phone, I INSTANTLY realized the battery is faulty and needs replacement. How can the Geek Squad not see the battery needs replacement? If they do see the battery needs replacement, and don't notify the purchaser, they are engaged in shady business practices.
