The Best Buy tech said I didn't need this, because everything is WiFi. But if you are going to link your old computer to a new one, this is essential. There are no ethernet ports on MacBooks and I was not able to use Migrate Assistant without linking directly to the router. This saved me from being able to use my old files.

This adapter is a quick connection and Mac OS X automatically recognizes it to allow very fast data transfers from various Apple computers. I used this to speed up a Time Machine backup for a laptop when it was performing the full backup for the first time. It went from 18-20 hours down to 2 hours for the data that needed to be transferred.

I work in a company that images several Macs a day. To be as efficient as possible during the imaging process, we use the Thunderbolt/Ethernet adapter to take advantage of the gigabit speed. We can image a Mac in roughly 3 to 5 minutes. The USB/Ethernet adapter will take us 15 to 25 minutes to image a device. Definitely a must have.

After connecting her 2014 MacBook Pro through WiFi for years, my wife had a need to connect through a wired connection. She was a bit dismayed to find that her MacBook Pro didn't have a connection port for Ethernet - only two Thunderbolt 2's, HDMI, USB-3 and an SD card slot. This solved the problem.

If you have a newer Mac that doesn't have an either-net port you have to carry one of these with you. I tried one of the off brand and I could never get the drivers to work, so I bought this one and it works just great. The only problem I have is I only have the one Thunderbolt port on my Air and there is no daisy chaining with this.

I bought this in case I travel and the hotel or location I am staying at does not offer wi fi I still have this to get online. I tested it at home with my internet and it worked wonderful. I did get my full ISP when connected when compared to wi fi which is pretty standard. I highly recommend this product.

Apple Thunderbolt to Ethernet Adapter Works

This Apple OEM Thunderbolt to gigabit Ethernet adapter works. I purchased it for my college student so that her MacBook Air would have the option of Wi-Fi or wired gigabit Ethernet since the dorm room Wi-Fi at colleges is sometimes overwhelmed and often a wired connection will be faster and more reliable.

This adapter worked great. The only reason I needed it was to migrate my files from my Windows 10 PC to my new Mac Book Pro. It was less expensive to purchase this and transfer the files myself than to pay someone else to move them for me.

I needed to connect my older MacBook Pro directly into my internet router when I was having internet problems. There is no internet jack on the machine, so I needed this dongle which links into the Thunderbolt connection. It worked fine and will come in handy in the future.

Needed to connect through cat6 cable on an older macbook and it did what it needed to do. Yes there was probably something cheaper on amazon but when it comes to apple at least you are guaranteed it works when it comes to add-on peripherals.

Apple Quality, great speed. I use my MacBook Air wireless most of the time. This is a great backup in case my wireless router goes out...knock on wood. I used it to test my internet speed and found my internet provider needed to replace my older cable modem to get the faster speed that was currently available.

And when you only have one way to hardline your laptop to the internet, these adapters by Apple are the way to go. I've tried off brands and they work but don't last. I'm had many issues with off brand products but never with these apple adapters. They are study, durable, and do the job easily.

Our Wireless network is bogged down with remote working and distant learning. Jacking your computer directly into the internet with this Ethernet dongle not only solves choppy internet, it makes the internetz Ricky Bobby. "Gotta go fast!"

I tried one of the $5 Thunderbolt to Ethernet adaptors you can pickup on eBay and such, and it simply did not work. After some research, learned it required drivers, manual setup, etc. So I shelled out the full price for the Apple product, plugged it in, and it simply worked. Lesson learned...you get what you pay for.

I have a docking station at work and our WiFi stinks, so I try to use ethernet when possible. There is zero configuration for this device, just plug it in and plug in an ethernet cable and it just fires right up. Zero performance issues, but if it is not pushed all the way in and I mean ALL the way in, it just cuts out.

Needed this for a macbook air (2015). This macbook air is used as a tech laptop for working on various wireless & now wired networks. Needed the ability to plug into a hard wired network, purchased this & it works flawlessly! if you need hard wired ethernet for your macbook, this is the device to get!
