I tried one of the $5 Thunderbolt to Ethernet adaptors you can pickup on eBay and such, and it simply did not work. After some research, learned it required drivers, manual setup, etc. So I shelled out the full price for the Apple product, plugged it in, and it simply worked. Lesson learned...you get what you pay for.

I have a docking station at work and our WiFi stinks, so I try to use ethernet when possible. There is zero configuration for this device, just plug it in and plug in an ethernet cable and it just fires right up. Zero performance issues, but if it is not pushed all the way in and I mean ALL the way in, it just cuts out.

Great product. Apples version is the best due to wide range of use.

Needed this for a macbook air (2015). This macbook air is used as a tech laptop for working on various wireless & now wired networks. Needed the ability to plug into a hard wired network, purchased this & it works flawlessly! if you need hard wired ethernet for your macbook, this is the device to get!

I needed this for my work which takes me places where the wi-fi is not so good. Thus the ethernet cord has to be the source of connection to the network and the internet. This unit is compact and easy to carry in my work back pack. Plus the white color makes it easy to find in the pocket full of changer cords.

My wifi went down and my daughter had to complete her homework assignments. After going into panic mode I booted up my Bestbuy app and whala they had just what we needed. Plugged this gadget into her Mac, connected the Ethernet cable and she was up and running. And Daddy is the HERO!!!!

I bought a wireless modem for my new apartment and forgot to ask the old owner if they changed the modem settings. They did and even after going to the default, I still couldn't find the modem on my airport. By getting the ethernet adapter, I was able to straight line my Mac and modem and change the settings manually.

Works out of the box with no config needed in OS X. Adapter will get warm when transferring a lot of data through it, not sure if this is the fault of the Thunderbolt interface or not. Also, having to carry an adapter in the first place is slightly annoying. Other than that, it does the job as advertised.

This is a plug and play product. I was going to update my MacBook's OS using the WIFI connection. The download started and it estimated 1 to 2 days to complete. I put in this to connect to my ethernet cable. The download completed within 8 minutes.

I'm only writing this review because Best Buy enticed me with extra reward points. What the he** am I supposed to write about a a wifi adapter? That it works? Yes, it works. You plug it in and the freakin thing works. Fantastic.

I bought this specifically because I wanted to turn an older Mac mini into a Sophos UTM / firewall appliance. It works perfectly and there is no discernible lag at all between this add-on port and the built-in port. Both operate at expected speeds for gigabit interfaces.

This device is a great tool to add gigabit LAN/internet speeds to a Mac laptop. Having a new MacBook Pro, I did have to use a TB2-to-TB3 adaptor so it wasn't a perfect solution, but that's not the product's flaw, just a flaw of time/newer hardware.

The adapter has allowed me to use a head set with my phone when I have conference calls,…very useful when family members are busy making noise whilst living their life when I’m on a call…

Works great. No set up needed. Just plug and go. The only drawback is that it is required to hard wire the new Mac Laptops.

Realized after I purchased Mac Air, it didn't have Ethernet connection. Sometimes I have problems with home wi-fi and wanted to be sure I could get internet. This device is just what the doctor ordered and gives the option for a wired Internet connection. A little pricey but what from Apple isn't?

Easy to use and simply works. We needed this item in a hurry and purchased it online and did a pick-up in the parking lot. It was super fast and easy.

The internet speed improves clearly when I'm connected to the Internet via Ethernet and this adapter since there are 5 laptops/desktops and several mobile devices are online. If you have an option to use ethernet connection, I would recommend you to give it a try. I have a solid connection.
