my macbook doesnt have an ethernet port, and in my dorm at college we have to hard wire for internet access, no wireless. so I got this for my thunderbolt port. It does the job just plug and play. Its a little pricey but thats apple for you. There are knock offs that I work well also I feel sure

Not sure why apple stopped making Ethernet ports on their macs, but this product saved the day!

This device is a MUST HAVE for an apple laptop. Only downside of the newer models is that they have eliminated the hardline for ethernet connections. This is not great. This solves all that easily and they were smart enough to design the functionality into the thunderbolt ports.

Recently traveled to Afghanistan and the only internet service was via ethernet port. With my new Mac Book there was no port for this....this adapter ensured I did not have a looooog boring trip! Worked flawlessly!!

Cheap insurance to keep in a laptop bag for when WiFi is slow and you have access to wired Ethernet. I have two larger multipurpose ports but I end up using the small single purpose adapters (USB, network, HDMI).

The cable is a necessary accessory if you intent to plug in an eathernet cable. Does what it is suposed to for those that need it. Many will not need it unless you need to physically plug in, cannot fault Apple for removing the port because many will not need it.

Purchased for my wife to assist with transferring data faster, working great so far. Also, a little bit of advice to Apple, it would really be nice if you guys would add a link light...not a huge deal but would really help with troubleshooting issues.

I purchased this for my niece as a back up just in case the wifi doesn't work at college so well. While it may be bothersome to have to carry this piece around for the ability to use a LAN cable with MacBook Pro/Retina, it is definitely worth having in a pinch.

It's a must have adapter if you own a Macbook Pro or any other Apple products which have Thunderbolt port instead of R45 Ethernet port. It is very useful if the wifi signals around you are weak but you do have wired connectivity to use then this powerful adapter works just great.

I purchased a Macbook Pro and didn't realize that there was no Ethernet Port directly available. Since I come from a Windows World, I never anticipated that something so basic would be missing. In any case, I purchased this and it works well and transparently.

Essentially for working at home, nothing beats a hardwired connection. If you’ve got a Mac, be safe and go with the name branded adaptor. Works perfectly and I’m pulling near 1 Gig on my laptop.

I purchased these Ethernet adapters for my business. If you need to have a wired Internet connection for your MacBook laptops, this is the only adapter you need. Don't buy 3rd party Ethernet adapters as they require driver installs. These work out of the box.
