If you need an Ethernet connection on your MacBook Air this does the job perfectly. Just plug it in and go.

So…it’s somewhat confusing (to me) so I’m going to put it first: This is a thunderbolt2 connection for older laptops. It worked perfectly for hardwiring my son’s MacBook to ensure a solid connection for school. I didn’t want to mess with it but I’m very sure the $20 USB-A version would have worked just as well. I just didn’t feel like taking the chance.

Since my new MacBook Pro does not have Ethernet port anymore I had to buy this. It works great. But I wish apple still had Ethernet ports

My MacBook Air did not have an standard ethernet port, but I already knew that I had found and used other Thunderbolt connector adapters and looked for this one to add to my collection. I use this to speed up my internet connection vs. wifi when I have the availability of internet via ethernet cable. I also use it to hard wire connect to my home network to help troubleshoot an internet out situation to diagnose whether he problem is coming from the cable modem or just the wifi router signal.

After getting my fiber optic service installed, to reach the promoted speeds of having fiber optic, I needed this in order to hard connect to the modem via ethernet cable. This is needed for the newer Mac products.
