There were no instructions on operation of the remote and it functions quite differently than others.

Using it to control lights. Lights come on when I enter a room, how neat is that. Simple love it, plus I get to enjoy all my iTunes movies and music to boot. My hope is who I gave it to for Christmas, I hope they enjoy it as much as I do.

Use with Apple devices and your tv apps

Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Though it took me awhile to learn how to use, it’s become a useful companion to my iPhone / iPad. The mic feature is useful when you’re not feeling like typing in passwords or names of apps. The only fault I can find with it is that it doesn’t produce full screen images or video when mirroring your photos and videos. I don’t know why that is or why Apple hasn’t solved that. Oh well, it’s still great for playing purchased digital movies saved in iTunes. I have yet to master it. There are plenty of free channel apps like PBS you can download and stream. In my opinion it’s has a pretty steep learning curve and wish Apple would use their brilliant minds to simplify it a bit more.

NICE UDATED VERSION

Didn't plan on getting another Apple TV but had the use rewards coupon before it expired, so didn't cost me anything really.
