Go for Apple TV
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent product! Apple TV any time for me instead of Google Chromecast if you used Apple products. No hassle airplay or screen mirroring, not like Chromecast that needed third party apps. Very user friendly. However, it is a tad more expensive.

Apple TV
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to set up and use! I like the remote but was disappointed to learn that a newer version came out soon after this purchase. The remote is easy to use, but the newer version is supposed to be more durable.

Wasn't sure even after I bought this. Now LOVE it.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didn't understand why I was buying an Apple TV other than I have one of the worlds last flatscreen dumb tv's, and truth be told could have just bought a new TV for the price. I wanted to see what this was all about though. Apple TV is a fancy, expensive way to augment your tv-viewing experience into an Apple experience, which is not a bad thing. It provides 4k and Dolby Atmos if you have the equipment to take advantage of that. It has an awesome remote with a touchpad that feels like a gorgeous iPod shuffle in your hand. It has Siri. You can speak your text instead of typing things out slowly. You can use 2 HomePods as stereo surround sound. You can airplay anything from other apple devices, and even a PC with AirParrot. You can view your photo library, and access the App Store! Very cool. It took time, but I now love Apple TV.

Upgraded
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A lot like previous models but now in 4k... if you television can handle it. I recently upgraded my TV to 4k and my Apple TV went on the fritz so it was time to pick this one up. The price is exorbitant but I love the AirPlay feature and streaming from my media server my own shows and movies and the apps are great for streaming from your subscribed platforms. While ROKU is probably the best bang for buck, entrenched in the Apple ecosystem this is the best choice for me,

Best Streaming Device!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The streaming device you can buy whether you like Apple products or not! It is so much easier to setup and use than any of the other products. The remote is quirky, but just go to settings and slow down the swiping speed and it works great!

Bought for Atmos capabilities...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgraded my old Roku with Apple TV 4K solely for the purpose of having Atmos quality sound with some streaming programs. Not disappointed. Heard a lot of complaints about the remote, but I find it easy to use and intuitive. I like the touch pad (similar to mouse pad).

4K is awesome!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased a high end 4K HDR tv. I wanted to have the ability to view 4K content. Although the availability of 4K content is limited at the moment. The picture quality is incredible. The Apple tv was easy to setup and I like that it ties into my iTunes id. It was a great match with my new tv.

Apple TV 4K
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The set up would have been much easier if I was familiar with the touch system on the top half of the remote. Finally figured it out when I referred back to the instructions (ie diagram). After that the set up was very easy using my IPad. So much easier than my old Apple TV. Switching from my TV remote to change the power source to the Apple remote is a pain but that may be alleviated by a universal remote. I turned off Alexa during the set up since I was stuck moving forward in the set up having not been familiar with the remote’s touch system on the top half of it.

Well worth the extra money
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I previously had Roku, which was adequate. However, Apple TV is so much better. Better picture quality and easier to use. Plus, I can send video from my iPhone, which I never could do with Roku. If money is not a consideration, this is well worth the higher price.

Great Buy
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you don’t have one you’re gonna need one! Super fast and 4K clear! Works amazing with dolby atmos and HDMI pass through! the only issue with this is having to stream some apps like Xfinity that don’t operate well with the apple ecosystem

the product and AppleTV software keeps improving
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been an AppleTV owner since generation 2, with the silver aluminum controller. With each version of the AppleTV software upgrade, things improve, and now it is the launch pad for whatever I want to watch, such as PBS, CNN, Netflix, and the AppleTV+ original offerings. I never pick up the cable remote, unless I want to watch a newscast "real time". The Siri based controller, integration with the iPhone for using the phone keystrokes to enter a long password (like for Netflix account) rather than having to navigate on the screen to pick out from the alphabet displayed on the TV, etc. I find that the 64K storage size is more than adequate (I do not play video games, which I think do use up storage in the unit). And I chose the 4K model, as I was getting a 4K TV and thought I should maximize the resolution for the movies from iTunes purchase.

An Incredibly High Quality Streaming Device
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device is awesome. Everything about it gives the impression of quality. It's powerful, enough so that it's capable of playing small video games found on its app store. Gaming on a streaming box isn't something I'm looking to do, but the device's power still makes traversing menus and digging through streaming catalogues smooth and snappy. The addition of an ethernet (wired network) plug is fantastic. Wired connections are more reliable than wireless ones, and while the Apple TV's wireless connection worked great when I tried it, I always prefer a wired one when I can get it. As for the remote, it's strange and neat enough that I'll talk about it in a dedicated section later in the review. The user interface -- the menus and whatnot -- are very nice. It borrows from the iPhone's interface design, and adapts it to the big screen. Apps on the home screen can be rearranged and put into folders, and folders can be renamed. Apps can be prioritized at the top of the home screen, allowing for features like recommended shows to be seen before launching the app. App icons are far larger than those on the iPhone or iPad, meaning these features come at no cost to usability or visibility. It takes advantage of Apple's previous design successes and adapts them for a different use. The remote is strange and high enough quality that it was worth showing off to people on its own -- and not just because it looks like a baby iPhone. The remote's touch pad-based controls are surprisingly intuitive and comfortable to use. Directional buttons on other remotes don't feel obsolete, but the touchpad is clearly a worthwhile addition for the Apple TV. Many icons in the interface detect subtle motions on the touchpad and use this to swivel a bit on the screen, with most icons having multiple layers to provide a "3D" effect when this happens. I love this. It doesn't add any functionality but it's slick. Little attention to detail like that can really leave an impression. What's more, most TV show seasons I've bought from the iTunes store use this depth effect for their menu icons. That's just cool. Initially I was annoyed that the top right button, the one with a little TV on it, always launched the Apple TV+ app (that's Apple's own streaming service). Turns out the system settings app allows you to toggle whether this button launches Apple TV+ or returns you to the home screen. No other options are available, but I much prefer having it set to the home screen. The top left button -- "Menu" -- is the one you'll press when you want to go to back a page in the menus or inside apps. Holding this button returns you to the home screen. Lastly -- for what I'll cover -- the "OK" or "accept" button is just a click of the touchpad. Not a gentle tap on the surface, but a press of the entire surface, which doubles as a big, physical button. Apple TV's remote is strange, but it's very high quality, it has some unique features I really like, and using it becomes intuitive very quickly. To wrap things up, the Apple TV is an excellent streaming device -- easily the most "premium" one I've ever seen. Everything about it is slick and refined. Functionally, it's intuitive, snappy, and capable of everything you'd want from a streaming device. You pay for the quality, though. As someone who uses streaming devices all the time, I found the hefty price tag to absolutely be worth it, but if you're less picky, you can get all the functionality you need for far less money. I love this thing, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone not looking to splurge a bit. However, if you're looking for the absolute best streaming device out there, this is it. I highly recommend buying one.

Works perfectly
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this as a birthday gift for my daughter who said she wanted to "cut the cable" in her NYC apartment for TV. She is thrilled with its performance and said it was very simple to set up. It's a perfect compliment to her "Apple eco-system" and integrates well with all her gear.
