I still miss the headphone jack on my iPad, but this works just fine. Only downside is that you can't charge the device at the same time.

Converter for headphones

The new phones don't have the 3.5mm port, so this plugs into the charging port on the phone and into the headphone jack so you can still use your old headphones. The short cord does seem a little thin so being carful not to bend to sharp.
