I bought this dongle for a neighbor whose older MacBook Pro potted out. However, she had backed her Mac to an external hard drive. The only problem was her new MacBook Pro only had USB-C ports and her external hard drive had a USB-A cable. This dongle worked just fine to recover her data using the migration assistant and it allowed her to continue to doing backups without buying a new external hard drive.

This is a gotta have cable for your MBP, allows conmection to any of your standard USB devices. Plug and play.

unfortunately, Apple keeps changing their device inputs. Only real complaint that I have against Apple products. Replaced a 10 yr old MacBook Pro that had USB inputs. Had to buy this adaptor for the new MacBook Pro in order to use a disk drive.

Inexpensive and easy way to connect USB to my thunderbolt ports. A store associate told me to look for an adapter with all the computer adapters, but did not tell me to look in the separate Apple section.

I'm using this connector to attach a MIDI keyboard (Novation Launchkey61) controller to my iPad Pro to run Moog's 'Model D' software synth. No issues with the connection and absolutely no latency! Great product for this particular application.

With everything being USB-C u can only upgrade so many things. I have old external HD’s that I rely on. When I saw this I was happy to be able to connect my USB to use with my USB-C laptops. There is always a way!

I suppose another plot to force another accessory purchase for people buying the new Apple a MacBook Pro. For the hearty price, the MacBook doesn’t have a USB slot to plug in. Thus, this little gadget, literally a small 5 inch cord allows a USB application. It’s only $20, but why why why does Apple get away with this? Anyway, it is recommended. You will likely need it sometime.
