I previously purchased 2 cheaper non-Apple adapters, from different merchants, and they didn't work when I connected them to my Brothers laser printer or DVD reader/writer. I've been using this product for months and they work. They are a little difficult to disconnect from the USB but that only proves to me that it is a good connection.
