I have a stainless steel band so I have to flip up the center. I do find the unit has to be perfectly flat or gravity will overtake the magnet and the watch may slip off and not charge.

Good platform for support of watch when charging.If you have a bumper on the watch and a sports loop band on it be careful when using in upright position. As the bumper can lift the watch off of the magnetic charger.
