The 38mm is definitely more suited to a woman's hand, especially those with small hands. I was purchasing a 42mm for myself and decided to get her one to help monitor her heart-rate and breathing.

I use this thing way more than I thought I would. Being able to accept phone calls hands free has been the coolest part, only downside is the battery life. Basically has to charge every day.

I’ve had Fit Bit and a Garmin. So far loving all the features the Apple Watch offers. Disappointed a bit by battery life, but not a deal breaker. As a runner it works great for timing and mileage.
