My watch face has scratches on it after 6 days of normal use. I have worn an Apple Watch 3 and Fitbit versa for years and neither have scratches. Apple warranty and Apple care do not cover accidental scratches and they tell me I can send it in to to be fixed for $300. Otherwise I am out of luck. I expected this watch to be more durable, especially considering the $400 price point.

I like Apple Watch asides from the battery life. I feel like it should be alot better for what you pay for it. I had the series 1, so I decided to upgrade to the series 5. Apple needs to invest in better watch batteries with more battery life.

It’s a nice watch only difference is the scree size if you’re upgrading from a 3 or 4. Other than that I personally see no difference.

Great, but beware the battery degradation

Great, but beware of the battery. It’s Feb 2024 and my usage has been from 7AM - 11PM. I typically workout for an hour or so and it will be just about dead after I’m done working out now, and the battery is @80% max capacity.

This is my second Apple Watch purchase . I first purchased the series 3. The 600. 00 stainless for my Christmas . Took no extra extended warranty out. Watch worked great for two years then crystal popped off of the top of watch. Watch still works. but, face of watch wouldn’t stay on. Was told it was due to battery getting hot and expanding . Very unhappy. Didn’t feel like this was my fault. More like a factory issue. Thought I should of gotten more use out of the watch. Having said that, I purchased a new Apple Watch 5 . .Just like the other one I LOVE IT. This time I took extended warranty and got the 400 plus watch. We will see if the face stays attached on this one for a couple years. If not , I will not be buying anymore high dollar Apple Watches.

There is really no other smart watch that can compete with the Apple Watch. I've purchased 11 watches for myself and family members starting with the first model. The gen 4 is a great deal currently if you can find them. Gen 3 (now at $200) is an excellent option for kids or student athletes. Not sure if I would upgrade from a 4 to 5. I really like the always-on feature of the 5 compared to my 4, however, there are some battery settings on the 4 that will prolong the charge. The only other feature the 5 has missing on my 4 that I would notice is the compass, but I probably wouldn't use it that much. My wife has the 5 and she doesn't use the compass at all and she's and avid hiker. In any event, my advise to everyone from experience is, unless you really don't care about cost consider the cheapest Apple Watch models (i.e. aluminum with a regular band). My first watch was stainless steel. Great looking watch at first but scratched easily over time. The extra hardened glass was probably overkill as I have repeatedly bumped and hit my aluminum watch faces (the cheaper glass) never having it broken or cracked. My biggest reason for buying the cheaper versions is that you will like the watch so much you WILL want to upgrade it at some point. Over time, the battery won't hold a charge more than 4 hours. Also, these watches eventually are not supported or keep up with 3rd party software. My original $1000 2015 first generation Apple Watch became pretty useless after its 4th year. Most of all, you will want the latest features as this is such a great and useful device. In my experience, you will want to upgrade every 2 to 3 years. It's a little bit easier to toss aside a $500 watch after 3 years than an $800 or a $1,000 one. These watches are not like Swiss time pieces that you hand down to your kids. They are not really dress up watches either. I would consider the Apple Watch a Swiss Army every day use watch. They are awesome. Save the money you would have spent on a pricer model though and save it towards a Rolex or Breitling that will last generations.

This is the best smart watch out in the market as of now, period. The design is perfect, comfortable to wear and battery has been lasting about 1-1/2 to 2 full days. But the best part is it's features, the fitness tracking, heart rate monitor, setting fitness goals, ability to receive and make phone calls and text messages, play music, calendar, and on an on. $300 was my price target and glad it is now available at that price. Very happy with the purchase.

The Apple Watch Series 5 is nice. Super compatible with iPhone and other associated products, which is to be expected. Nice hardware and bands are easy off and on making swapping bands effortless. It got 4/5 stars bc the apps are not as user friendly as I’d like or expect from Apple and watch lasts about a day on full charge making it tedious to charge. Not a fan of texting from watch. Keyboard downloads are meh. When it comes to work outs and sleep/heart rate tracking, as odd as it sounds, I prefer the layout of Fitbit Versa. There are sleep and HR apps in the Apple store, but they’re just “ok.” Even the ones you pay for are just “ok.” There are a lot of apps, but most are for the iPhone, not the watch. (i.e. Cannot add onto watch as a “complication.”) The Versa runs about 4-5 days between charges whereas the Series 5 about 1-1.5 days. Granted the Series 5 uses a lot more juice bc of all the different “complications” and such (e.g compass, weather, etc). However, the frequent charging for the Series 5 takes away from the versatility and reliability of the device. It is good to note that you can turn off the “always on” display which is how I got 1.5 days worth of juice instead of 1 day. If anyone has gotten 2 days out of a charge, please let me know how you managed that. I’ve disabled a bunch of notifications already. At the price of the Apple Series 5 (retail at almost $400 for GPS only) vs the Fitbit Versa (retails at $150), the Series 5 is a bit pricey. However, fall detection is a big win for Apple. Ultimately I will keep the Series 5, because Apple has good hardware and fall detection. Hoping apps will improve over time. The Versa is a better fit for me functionally but I’ve already gone thru two Versas, which is about the cost of an Apple Watch at this point. (Fitbit has poor build quality sadly.) If you can wait, would see how the Series 6 will be before investing or wait for a sale on older models. For me I haven’t justified the perks to substantiate the price is all, but I am paying for better quality hardware.

Amazing watch! Went from the Apple Watch 2 to this one and I’m definitely impressed. Apple did amazing with this one and I would make sure to buy a bumper guard so you don’t scratch or crack the sides. Only thing I don’t like is that screen protectors don’t fit completely flat on the watch so you’ll have to deal with crumbs on the sides of the screen protector.
