    Due to the sleek nature of the iPad, I would definitely recommend at least the 2 year care plan. I think it is worthwhile. It is absolute peace of mind.

    Although this plan costs 1/3 of the price of the tablet, the purchase was for someone who might likely drop her iPad, so the piece of mind is invaluable.

    I didn't think I'd ever need AppleCare then in the Spring I dropped the iPad I purchased last November. It hit the tile floor just on the corner and shattered the screen - yes it was in a good case. Lesson learned, buy AppleCare with the replacement iPad!

    I wouldn't purchase an Apple product because it more than has paid its' way in the past. Not necessarily because you will need it for a hardware issue, but it is helpful to be able to speak to a live human to help you work something out with the software.
