I used the Apricorn USB 3.0 to SATA adapter along with the bundled software to clone the factory-installed Seagate Momentus XT 500GB hybrid drive of my Clevo P150HM to an external Crucial M4 512GB SSD w/o issue. The transfer rate during the clone was definitely faster than USB 2.0 speeds but wasn't full USB 3.0 speed (in the 120 - 130MB/s range if I remember correctly). This is expected however since the internal mechanical drive just couldn't keep up with the SSD and was bottle-necking the transfer. Previously I used a bootable CD w/ DriveClone to do my cloning/backups but was pleased that the bundled Apricorn software could properly handle a full clone (including the swap and system files) while running under Windows 7 x64 w/o errors or issues. Cons: None - everything worked exactly as expected. Other Thoughts: Based on some other users' bad experiences maybe I just got lucky, but I would definitely recommend this product (and have). One obvious but easy to miss thing is to be sure that this product is actually plugged into a USB 3.0 port (look for the blue internal plastic tab) if you're expecting to get full speed. Also, another thing to watch out for is that some older USB 3.0 chipsets/implementations (like the one in my laptop) will downshift to USB 2.0 on ALL USB 3.0 ports if a USB 2.0 device is plugged into ANY of the USB 3.0 ports. So, if you're seeing sub-USB 3.0 speeds with a USB 3.0 device (such as this one) try unplugging any other devices connected to other USB 3.0 ports since that might be a way to get around the issue. Replaced a small SSD with a larger one. My old cable didn't work, so bought this one. Worked fine. I didn't try the software. Used the software that came with the SSD.

My MacBook did not require the CD for the transfer. There is a program in the OS X that is perfect. The transfer is done with the cable only for a MacBook and it is PERFECT!

I explained to the repersenative that i needed this for a old pc he gave me this. This only works on labtops so beware this will not work on desktops

Restoring a bunch of laptops and had to clone new hard drives. This made the job fast, and outside of the laptop case. Handle gently and it will work for a long time.

Although I did not use the cloning feature, this product saved the day when my laptop went belly up with my hard drive intact. It provided me with a quick and easy way to retrieve my data, copy to another system and get on with my life! I would highly recommend it. You don't need to be a geek to use it. It's the epitome of plug-n-go! It was priced right and available. I'm a happy camper!

I needed a way to first transfer my data files to a new laptop, then to upgrade the laptop HD to a faster SSD drive. This cable worked great for both applications. Unfortunately the EZ Gig software that came with the adapter failed to work properly, but my Samsung SSD Data Migration software did the job.

External hard drive adapter went bad preventing us from accessing important data. It was great to find this at our local Best Buy versus having to order online.

Software sucks! but the USB did work, I recommend using third part software!

It worked just as advertised. I only wish it a few adapters to connect to multiple drives. That would make it more efficient.

I needed to make a copy of my hard drive because I needed to make a copy of my hard drive. This made a great copy of my hard drive. I support this product.

When my old laptop crashed I was able to save the data because the data was still there on the old hard drive and this cable let me access it easily and quickly.

My laptop was slow so I bought SSD but I did not have the tool to transfer the data from old disk to the new disk. I bought this one and did the job great.
