    Windows 10 killed my optical drive. I downloaded third party software to use with this cable (I don't remember the software name). The cable worked fine, and I'm using it and the old hard drive as external storage now.

    It is rarely a fun occasion when you need this cable. However, the software made it pretty easy to get the data off the drive from a dead PC.

    All I really needed out of this was the cable because there are free cloning software apps online. Cable worked great, software was a pain.

    This product does not have an external power source, so would not power up my hard drive. Ended up having to purchase a different model with an external power source.

    The instruction were easy to understand, but as I could not connect to my SATA drive I cannot comment on the actual transfer operation. As it did not cost very much I have no complaints that I was not able to get the results I wanted.

    It was probably just me, but I could not get the data to download. Ended up returning item and got the geek squad to download my data and restore it. Since I had so much trouble, one of the guys did it for free. Thanks geek squad.
