Needed this to work... but it didn't

Wanted to pull the data off my work laptop before I sent it in for a replacement but unfortunately, the software could not "find" the product that was plugged in. I tried it on 2 personal laptops but to no avail. I can only hope that their customer service will send me a replacement. There is a sticker on the packaging that clearly states that it is not returnable if the package has been opened. Too late for the 13 months of work on the laptop... unless my IT department can help. I still have another personal laptop that will not power on so I still can use the product assuming Apricorn's customer service will send one that works. I will post an update.

    Simply doesn't work

Not sure if everyone is using this to clone a laptop HDD to a SSD as a replacement - but that's what I was doing. I had 2 different laptops - one with Windows 8.1 and the other Windows 7. Both have the older magnetic drives and I bought one of the Sandisk SSD (240) to replace them. If one worked I was going to buy another one. Well - the cloning seemed to work flawlessly but neither laptop would recognize the SSD (yes - I cloned each separately). No matter what I did in the BIOS - neither machine would recognize the new drives. So despite this being marketed as a product that makes this process easy - it's far from easy. I spent most of my Saturday on this and despite an IT background - I could not get it to work. After I did some further reading on this, it's quite apparent that this could involve registry editing and other very specialized tweaking to get it to work. Why this works well for some with no issues and no extra effort is quite baffling to me. Maybe it depends on the O/S or the make of laptop - not sure. Someone said Best Buy won't take this product back - I haven't tried. But how do you sell a product that doesn't work and then not allow it to be returned?

This needs taken off the shelves. Will not work on Windows 10. Software included is for Vista, XP, Win7. The store charged $39.99, online it's $20.99.

Needed to retrieve data from old hard drive and salesperson recommend this product. It could not do what I wanted so I returned and the geek squad recommend something else that did the job. That certainly made my day as I thought the hard drive was toast.

Found the product was a total waste of money. Better off purchasing an external hard drive enclosure.
