This piece of cord and adapter was necessary to transfer multiple SSD drives to one SSD Drive after cloning the OS and back up OS to the SSD drive first. Came with its own software for data transferal and full data manipulation with no other software necessary. This prevents you from having to try and find a free download that doesn't have a hacker or foreign entity attached to it looking for data mining or other malicious means. This software does much more than the CD when you update it online. Great product! You may have to order this online as I went to 3 different Best Buy stores to find it.

This product does well under conditions that do not involve a failed hard drive. First laptop i was able to use this to convert over to a samsung 860 evo 500gb and was able to clone over in as much as 2 hours. Second laptop, i knew my secondary drive was failing because the write heads were making very loud tick noises at random times, sometimes would make a super loud tick 10 times every 30 seconds. SMART reports were coming in that the drive was starting to fail. I am writing this as a 1 star review because this program handles very poorly when bad sectors are in place. The program will hang on bad sectors and there is no option to just skip them. This is a secondary drive i am trying to clone, not my OS drive, and 3 HOURS have gone by for one of the bad sectors. This is complete BULL. and not worth almost $40 buying inside the store off the shelf. as i am sitting here waiting for this to hurry up. its been sitting at 88% this dam long and i am tired of waiting on it.

I bought this cable at my local Best Buy store to transfer data from my failing hard drive to a new Seagate Hybrid. The cable works great! It is very fast and is virtually flawless. The cable comes with some easy to use software to help with the transfer process. You can boot the computer using the enclosed CD which runs DRDOS. I have the full DRDOS operating system which always has been useful to run system diagnostics. I chose to use GHOST to build the new hard drive after using DRDOS to modify the boot sector. This allowed me to reconfigure some sectors on the drive to prevent most of the Denial of Service programs from being able to gain a foothold on my system.

This transfer cord was easy to use and got the information off my old hard drive in no time. Definitely a lifesaver when a laptop dies!

I bought this to clone a new ssd from my hard drive recently. The cable works well, but I didn’t even use the included software since the Samsung Drive I bought has it available online for free. If I hadn’t been impatient, I could have just bought a sata to usb cord on amazon for a fraction of the cost. But, if I had needed the software, this would have been the perfect package.

Purchased this to upgrade my MacBook Pro HD to a SSD. I did not use the disc, just the wire. I had read complaints about slow transfer of data and untimely ejection of the transfer. While I did not experience this, you definitely can't move the drive around. The connection does come loose easily. Transfer went well. Item was priced at $20 ish so not bad. In hindsight I would have bought an enclosure with wire but didn't think I'd be using my old HD. I later purchased an inateck enclosure and am happy with that.

Not the friendliest interface, but easy enough to use. I was able to transfer the contents of a old broken hard drive using this tool. The only things is that the software wouldn't always read the harddrive. However, that could have been a issue with my USB ports. Although, I doubt it after having the same result on another computer. Overall it got the job of transferring files done.

Easy to use, transferred my 500 Gig hardware to my new 2 terabyte SSD, booted up the Solid State Drive, works like a charm.

First of all, I've only used the cable and not the software, so I can't comment on the software. The cable worked great. I lost the boot sector on my laptop and since I was ready to replace it, I bought this cable to copy data from the old harddrive to a new machine. I removed the hard drive from the old laptop, plugged the cable into it, and attached it to the USB on the new laptop. The old hard drive immediately mounted and the contents were available to copy. This cable handles both power and data from the USB. It's very reliable. No issues in copying over 1/2 TB.

Purchased this to clone a failing drive to an ssd, worked flawlessy, the software is pretty straight foward and easy to follow.

Needed to access hard drive on dead computer. Cable was easy to connect and worked great. Provided fast transfer with USB 3.0 connection. I'm not sure if it works with a USB 2.0 slot.

You need this if you plan on cloneing your main boot drive. Does s great job of transferring. Easy to use.

Cable was and is great. The software left me scratching my head, and I know what I am doing! I think they tried to hard to make it easy for a novice, and made it difficult for someone like myself to find the options I needed.

Must have for an IT professional. Super efficient at transferring files during moves, super useful for recovering files for people who may fear they were permanently lost. It doesn't have any options for what sizes and formats of hard drives it can connect to, but for laptop size HDs, this works. It's very simple and compact, throw it it your work bag and the space you lost is negligible. Didn't think this should cost as much as it did, but that didn't stop me from getting one.

An easy way to upgrade the computer hard drive, or to create an accurate copy of your laptop right from the first time you own it. Simple , accurate, and time savings. I recommend to have it handy in every home.

The transfer cable worked as expected but the software did not. Luckily, the tech support was great, and very understanding.

Works very good for reading hard disks, for cloning, copy or transfers HDD , SSD for laptops. High price but works great.

I'm glad Best Buy stocks this at most of its stores. The price point is higher that what other online retailers carry; however, when one is in a pinch, it's reassuring to see first hand that the Buy carries a quality product.
