This tool makes upgrading the hard drive of a laptop or even a Desktop PC so extremely easy. This has allowed me to extend the life of two laptops in my home by upgrading to faster hard drives. The only reason I give the ease of use a 3/5 score, not everyone is mechanically inclined, and getting into laptops and some micro desktops can take a little more attention to detail.

This actually the this one of these I've purchased. The first one that was bought for personal use my dog chewed up the cable hence this purchase. The other one was bought for use at work. What I now do is from time to time I clone my current SSD to the old spinning HD so if a worst case event should happen and I become infected with some ransomware I'll have minimal loss without paying the extortion fees.

I haven't used the one I purchased yet, but I've used others. As long as mine works as seamlessly as the others, I'll be happy. Plug and play is great when needing to recover data from a laptop drive.

This is easy to use and works great for transfers.

I bought this in a situation where I didn't want to wait for a web purchase. I wanted to walk in, grab from the shelf and walk out ready to use in the same day. It worked perfectly for my purposes. The Best Buy kids on staff in the store knew less about the product than I did which is disheartening. Note: To the uninitiated; Read the packaging carefully before you buy!!

This was easy for a novice to use and install. I had no difficulties. I used this on my computer to install the new hard drive and then again on one other computer I use. Very easy and understandable.

There isn't much to this product other than the cable and the software on the CD. The cable is rather short, but pretty robust. Normally, I would complain about the length of the cable, but it seems that all cables like this have the same problem. If you want the data transfer software, don't buy this. Go download free and open source software like gparted or plenty of others. I have also heard great reviews about Samsung's disk cloning software, so you might check that out (though I haven't used it personally). Ultimately, you are getting what you need (it's plug-and-play on Windows). I haven't even used the disk cloning software and I don't intend to (I'm happy with gparted). Note: This only works on 2.5" drives as advertised (Will not work on 3.5"). I have tested it personally and wattage isn't a factor like I originally suspected (not sure why, doesn't make much sense). This is intended for USB 3.0, but it works fine on USB 2.0. I'm assuming that is why the length of the cable has to be limited (because USB 2.0 only provides 500mA per port). Hope this review helps you. The picture below shows my cable plugged into a standard laptop drive (Hitachi 700mA 5400 rpm HDD). Don't worry about the power delivery, it works.

I purchased this to clone the solid state drive I purchased to my laptop. I didn't use this particular software I used another third-party software because I have a Dell, and they have a hidden partition. Software does work on other laptops except Dell. I would recommend the package if your cloning a solid state drive to your laptop HDD.

Should not be as much as they charge for acable. Needed it ASAP so ran to BB to get it. Next time order it on line and it will be 8 buck instead of what I had to pay to get it ASAP..it worked..

I had an idea to test this out on a Raspberry Pi 3B with a spare HDD and a new SSD (both were on sale). This handy little solution worked well with the Raspberry Pi 3B with both drives. Maybe a week later, a gentleman with his daughter was looking at a new SSD for his Mac and to transfer data - as a temporary means, I immediately recommended this. But for long term usage, I'd recommend an enclosure instead.

This is a great all-in-one cloning system. simple to use and great results. My only complaint is if you lose the disk its a bit of a hassle to get the program. I'm always update my laptops and I used to be able to just google and download the most current version of the ez-gig software. Now I have to submit my email address in order to get a download. But overall this is a GREAT product at an affordable price.

As a non computer guy, I cloned my old laptop hard drive without removing it from the laptop through the USB, then I removed the old drive and installed the new SSD drive. It was so easy!!! OMG I thought I was a PRO!!! It did all the work and I watched TV while it ran. Took about 2 1/2 hours to 3 to clone it with 100% accuracy and no faults. I wished they made one for desktops. It will not work on desktops!!! I highly recommend this product!!!

I needed to clone my current laptop drive onto a larger drive I was installing in my laptop. The cable itself is so easy to use, just attach your drive to it and plug it into a USB 3 port. The clone software that came with it was also straight forward to use. It takes a while to copy a drive (500 GB to a 1000 GB drive). Once the copy was done, I installed the cloned drive into my laptop and it fired right up. Really easy.

Works great. ONLY IF I would have known then what I know now lol. Paid $80 to transfer may data from 1 computer with bad mother board to my new computer only to still be missing key files. Bought this little baby for less than $30 and plugged it in, presto, all my stuff still there for me to transfer myself.

This was much easier to use than I expected. I used this to transfer the info on my old HDD to a new Samsung - 860 EVO 500GB Internal SATA SSD. Formatting, and file transfer took about 2hrs. Instructions where easy to follow. A couple clicks and boom the SSD was ready to be installed and swapped. I'm writing this review on that the same machine I used. It worked out much easier than I thought.

I got this to clone my old harddrive to a bigger harddrive on my laptop..was easy to use except it used my old partition size on my harddrive so my new harddrive had the same gigabites as the old..had to go back in and format the new harddrive and put something in the advanced section to use all my new harddrive..i am not that great on setting up partitions..there was a review on amazon where a guy explained what he did and i did the same and now it works great..

upgraded to a ssd and made it easy and quick. a must have if you want to upgrade laptop with ease.

This was very easy to hook up, but the soft ware was a bit confusing and was hard to figure out.

I did a clone with software to replace hard drive with failing message I got from best buy. Rep told me this solid state hard drive won't have issues with platter and read arm. Clone went great, slipped this hard drive in and could not believe how much faster it booted up and I could navigate with the SATA and solid state. Software worked just as described!! Thanks Best Buy for the advice.
