My HDD was dying and so I needed to copy the data to my new laptop. The packing was not clear, I should have known better but if your upgrading your drive and need to copy everything including the operating system so the new drive works in your laptop, this is your tool but if your looking to just pull off certian data, your need a drive enclosure or some other tool like a transfer cable.

It would have been nice to have different sizes for connectivity. I could only do one of my computers. Overall, very easy to use.

Bought this to replace a dying hard drive and it worked great. Software is straight forward and requires little work.

This is actually my fourth time being the same product. For cloning drives, this cable and software work great. It works with all Sata laptop drives. Between the adapter and Easy GIG IV software, you can have your computer's drive cloned to a new one in a few hours max. The only reason I purchased another one is so that I can crank out four systems at the same time.

The cable is good to have, but the software with it is useless. I would only buy a cable

Recently, my internal secondary 2.5" drive started acting up and I was convinced I had lost all the data. I picked up this adapter and a pair of EVO 860s and hoped I could extract the data..... or some of it. The adapter worked flawlessly. I question the longevity of plugging it in and removing it over time but for now, it's an excellent solution.

Yes cloning is easier this way, cloned a Linux drive also

After the motherboard crashed, Geek Squad removed the hard drive and suggested a SATA cable so I could continue accessing it on my new laptop. A lifesaver!

This little gizmo saved my system. System was dead and couldn't boot unless in limited safe mode. Took drive out and connected it to the wonder tool and then plugged the usb connector into my new system and I could access all my files like it was a usb drive. Transferred them over by drag and drop and was as good as new again. Easy to use also...

Basically purchasing the cable, the ez gig program is available on their website. Takes a few minutes to get it rolling, but so far everything looks good

I've used products by this brand in the past. Unfortunately I had to return it(unopened) as I couldn't use it for the project I was working on(a PS4 hard drive conversion to SSD). This software wouldn't work when it comes to cloning console drives unfortunately.

The USB port for my external hard drive was broken. The member of the Geek Squad helped me see that I could use this cord to still utilize my device.

I dropped my laptop the other day and the screen broke and i still have a old laptop that i can use but i needed the files that i had saved on the orher latop so i buy this device plug in to copy my old drive and duplicate it ro my new laptop

Cable works as advertised for laptop drive; did not need software so cannot evaluate it. Great way to 1) recover files left in a failed laptop and 2) to make that drive an external USB accessory for little cost. Note: only works with laptop drives not requiring higher voltages.

Data transfer cable can simply be used to access files on a SATA hard drive via USB or can be used with the Apricorn software suite to clone hard drives. I used the transfer cable to clone an old run down hard drive with a new SSD. There was no data loss and after the transfer I was able to swap the drives without any hiccups. Great tool for any tech toolbox!

This cable works great once the driver is initialized. If it isn't, you will go around and around trying to figure out why this thing isn't being recognized. Initialize the driver, and the process happens pretty quickly and seamlessly. Great tool once you know what you are doing.
