Although I used a different software to migrate my hard drive to my new SSD drive, the cable was quite easy to work with. No problems connecting & worked through several re-connects.

I was looking to upgrade two of my personal laptops and my tower to Windows 10, but wanted a “safty-net” if I did not like it. So I cloned all of the hard drives, and this did just that. I have used more robust cloning software/hardware in my commercial life, and was I bit concerned that this was not going to be up for that take. These concerns where not needed. The Software and adapter are simple and work well with a few basic options that will meet most home or small business needs. The only challenge is this product, is made to only connect to 2.5” drives and not full sized drives. This was OK for the laptops and the OS drive on the tower, but I still had two other drives to copy. This was because the USB adapter in needed for the software to work and the USB does not have the power to run the 3.5” drive. I came up with a work around, to power the drive from the PC power supply but connect a SATA Serial ATA Extension Cable to the Apricorn adapter. Cables used- SKU: 5880889 and SKU: 1310948129 (can be purchased on BestBuy.com).

Based on sales associate recommendation, I purchased this cloning software that included the necessary cable to migrate the data from the the old hard drive to the new one. Software was very straightforward and provided guided instructions for cloning the drive. Cloned drive worked flawlessly. The only issue was with the partition size to accommodate Windows 10. I had to find another program to assist in resizing the partition.

This was super simple. I used it to upgrade to an SSD drive on my laptop. Worked flawlessly! Well worth it! I have windows 10. I was able to clone and install the new drive in less than 2 hours and most of that time was copying files. Amazing product.

This thing is a great low space way to attach a 2.5 drive via usb. When I buy a new laptop without a SSD, I use this cable to clone the OS partition of the HDD to a SSD. Now that Windows keeps the product key in firmware and we still are seeing manufacturers shipping mobile devices like laptops with failure prone, incredibly slow 5400 2.5 drives, this makes having a very portable cable to clone the drive very handy.

Bought this to upgrade my 2011 Macbook Pro to an SSD. Worked great and was easy to use.

This adapter was on the expensive side (thought I saw the same adapter for half the price) but it worked exactly how I needed it to. Had a computer die, so to get the information off of the harddrive and to my new computer I needed the adapter. Tried other ways, but this is the only one that worked. The cd was pointless for me. Didn't need it.

I purchased the USB 3 version of this product, because that is all they carried on that day at the particular store I was at, so I payed nearly double. The USB 2 version which I see on line sells for around $20 on Amazon. Even if you have a USB 3 port, unless you have a huge amount of data, the USB 2 version works just fine (same software). I had about 230 GB total and it didn't take that long at USB 2 speed. Sorry, I didn't time it so I can't say exactly how long it took, but I am guessing less than an hour. What I can say is that it was very easy to use. I just connected the new drive using the cable to my laptop, and in just a few clicks it was transferring. When it was finished I just switched the drive and it booted right up. How easy is that!

Using this software made things a breeze! Fast and easy way to clone a drive! I am so glad I got it! Software on disk didn't work properly, but downloading latest worked awesome!

I always upgrade the hard drive of my computer either for a bigger unit or an SSD for performance. This little device helps me check what I have in my old units without having to pop open a machine or having to go through the trouble of putting it on an external case. It saves time and the price is very attractive.

This is the third or fourth time I've purchased this adapter. It's not because of issues I've had with the previous ones, but because it is such an integral part of my IT and forensic toolkits. So when I was tasked with developing a forensic capability for another company, it was at the top of the list of items for them to get. It continues to work great for me and others I've recommended it to.

I bought a different cable online to make my first ever attempt to replace my laptop hard drive with a ssd. Never could get the laptop to recognize the connected cable and ssd. Gave up and went to my local BestBuy and bought this cable and software. It was very easy to use and my new ssd drive was installed in no time. I would not hesitate to recommend this transfer cable to anyone.

This is software and cable perform exactly as advertised. I have used it on 3 laptops and two towers without any issues. I would recommend it if you are replacing a hard drive or SSD.

My SATA hard drive corrupted and I needed to connect it to another laptop to run a recovery software program on it. This cable/connector enabled me to attach it easily and I was able to recover my files quickly. Truly a lifesaver.

This is the second one I’ve purchased. This one was sent to my Mom in another state. I anticipated walking her through the steps to clone her previous HHD to the new SSD ordered to upgrade & before I knew it she was texting me that she did it. Super easy to use, essential if upgrading your PC storage. Used mine to upgrade two of my laptops & my two kids’ laptops as well. Disc isn’t necessary as Apricorn gives you a link on their site to download & clone your drive (most laptops no longer come with disc drives). Great product/tool added to my electronics arsenal. Recommend this & the iFixit 64-Pc kit for upgrading your electronics.

This is an interface cable to enable a quick connect of a laptop hard drive as an external drive to any desktop or laptop pc. USB on one end, disk drive interface on the other, it couldn't be simpler. Quicker than using an enclosure. Works fine. Only thing is, at the price I paid, you can get an enclosure which gives the option of keeping the drive permanently setup as an external drive, if you want, and provides protection for said drive. I have previously purchased an enclosure from B B at a similar price as this cable, so this item is definitely overpriced. It is just a cable, after all.
