Great bundle
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have never heard of this brand, until I visited a Best Buy and found a bundle of home automation products that I needed, bundled and offered at a great price Not being new to home automation (thermostats, lights), I was not partially fond of the idea of another app, but since this one integrates with Apple Home, it was a easy decision Diving into the unboxing, the packaging was adequate to protect the product, and way more attractive than what you will find in brand that is not top of mind Their app was simple, intuitive and worked seamlessly across the different products that I bought. Reviews on the app store shows potential issues that may have occurred over a year ago, but they obviously fixed all that with the latest release So what does this product do? Like the other products that I bought in this bundle, this is another home automation but for the door lock. While I used this one for a front door, it would also work anywhere you have a deadbolt. You set-up in their app, and can access it via either their app or Apple Home. This installed easily and works flawlessly. The design and fit/finish is also appealing Since this integrates with Apple Home, you can rely on a single app to view across products

Great lock with many features and functions
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.construction is really nice and with a nice finish as well. I initially thought outside was plastic - but is actually painted aluminum. All internals for install are metal as well. My only complaint is the strike plate screws are only 1inch. I prefer a longer screw here to provide a stronger security. Love the slide key access plate- no reall "grip" but if you pinch you can slide it down - stays kinda hidden will see how long the keypad lasts in the weather - my install is not full sun so should last a while install is standard - no reall issues there - pretty straight forward - app walks you through install and setup. I did miss the knob removal during first pass but once figured out - install was a breeze. love the fingerprint access!! And the many other ways to share access weather multiple user codes, fingerprint reader, NFC key, or remote access. All ways are logged in the app. Overall a nice smart lock, easy install, many ways to gather access and looks really nice! Should be usefull for a while to come!

Stylish Lock with Great Features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The main difference between giving it a 4 or a 5 is the design and look. It has a very modern look; simplistic but stylish. The keypad is a very good size to use. It also has a fingerprint scanner that can hold up to 50 fingerprints. This makes it very quick and easy when compared to typing in a code. The app is easy to use and allows you to control many aspects of the device. You can also connect it with Alexa, Google Home, etc. I connected it to Google Home and it was very easy to integrate and worked well. A nice added feature is it has USB-C charging in case the battery runs low. Great so you don't get locked out. As far as install it was very easy and took about 20 minutes. You really only need a screwdriver. It fit my door which was a standard wooden door and lock. I was very pleased with the install. Overall when it comes to home security as well as convenience of allowing easy access to the home (and emergency access through the app and USB-C charging) I highly recommend this.

CONVENIENT SMART LOCK!!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Aqara Smart Lock U100 Kit offers convenience and security for your home, but it's not without its drawbacks. I have spent the last couple days installing and testing out the Aqara Smart lock, so let’s go over some of the Pros and Cons and what this smart lock has to offer. Unboxing and Setup: • Locking Panels • AA Batteries • Deadbolt • Mechanical Keys • NFC Tags • Knob Removal Tool • Installation instructions The setup process was pretty simple. The installation manual in the box was simple and easy to follow. My installation time was about 45 minutes that included removal of my old door lock and installation of the new Aqara Smart Lock. Once installed, I paired the lock with the Aqara home application and was ready to go. I would like to mention that this was the only product that I was able to connect with the application on the first try. PROS: • Fingerprint and Remote Access: The smart lock has a fingerprint reader located in the center of the door lock and can store up to 20 fingerprints. The lock can also be accessed with keypad, mechanical key, the application (Aqara Home App, HomeKit or Google Home) or the provided NFC tags. • Auto Lock and Sensing: This was probably my favorite feature of this smart lock. The lock can be set up to auto-lock the door behind you or send you reminders if you forget to lock the door. • Design and Build quality: So, I would have to say that I am not a fan of how boxy the lock looks and how wide it is compared to my current lock, but I do like and appreciate the build quality. The lock is made from catalpa alloy and has some heft to it. The keypad is made from a matte texture, so you don’t have to worry about someone stealing your password. CONS: • Large and bulky design • The Aqara Home application issues • Limited smart features: Compared to some competitors, the Aqara U100 offers a more basic set of smart features and automations. • Battery: I am not a fan of changing batteries, especially AA or AAA batteries. I believe Aqara could have designed better by including rechargeable battery pack, so your not purchasing and changing out batteries every few months. Overall the Aqara Smart Lock U100 Kit is a good option for homeowners seeking a convenient and secure way to control their entryway. Its multiple unlocking methods, easy installation, and smart home compatibility. However, the large design, app issues, limited smart features and the AA batteries are a drawbacks for me.

Nice feature set
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've tried and like the Level Lock because of how inconspicuous it is. You'd never guess there was a smartlock there if you didn't know what you were looking at. This one is the opposite. It's super obvious. You get a lot more features here, though. You got keypad entry. Fingerprint entry. NFC tag entry. HomeKit HomeKey support. And if all else fails, you have a pair of physical keys as well. Installation was pretty easy. The Aqara app takes you through the installation process if you need a step by step and each step was small and very manageable. Felt like it took maybe 15 minutes to install after I had my old lock out of the door. Setup through the Aqara app is pretty painless as well. It does whatever initial setup and binding process to your account and then has you set up a pin code and fingerprint for you (the main user). Everything has easy to walk through steps and the process was fairly quick. You could be done setting up after this if you aren't going to be using the lock remotely or doing any automation with it. The lock comes with Aqara's E1 hub as well. This is just a USB stick that you plug into power and set up through the app as well. Everything straight forward as well. The final step took me a minute to find through all the settings menus in the Aqara app but I eventually did find the HomeKit section that let me bind the lock to Home so I can use HomeKey to unlock it as well. Setting up everything in the app probably took twice as long as the actual installation did. Now that you have the lock set up in the app, you can do a lot of customization on how you want it to work. There are options to add addition users and give them their own pin codes, NFC tags and fingerprints. So you can have each family member set up to unlock the door with their own credentials. You can even set up one-time use passcodes if you need to give someone access to your home once or you can set up temporary users if you have family in town for a bit. It's all pretty user friendly and easy to see in the app. One downside I found was in order to change the batteries, you need to pry the cover off. It doesn't have any easy release or latch. It's held on by tiny plastic clips that I can see breaking after prolonged battery changes. It just feels easy to break. Another downside is the speed it takes to activate with your phone. The keypad and fingerprint are nice but the phone connects via bluetooth (even when using the hub) so it takes a few seconds to connect to the lock before it actually unlocks. I'm still getting used to the autolocking settings. Sometimes it feels like it locks by itself. Sometimes it feels like it just tells you that it hasn't been locked. There are a bunch of settings for it so it's just a matter of getting the right combination. I was also confused when entering the code or fingerprint while the lock was unlocked, it didn't lock it. But there's a setting that automatically locks it when you touch the keypad after unlocking so that works. Overall, I like the bigger feature set here than the Level Lock. But it does stand out a lot more so it's going to depend on your wants. It's a nice lock for the most part but it could be better.

A quality Reliable and Failsafe Lock!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Firstly I have to say I'm truly shocked at the results of this smart lock. I recently inherited a building from my family which I plan on having an Airbnb in and thought this would be the perfect product to test the Aqara Ecosystem. Installation of the lock was a breeze and didn't take much though or effort. Configuration of the lock isn't too bad, if you are slightly technologically advanced you'll pick it up pretty quickly. Now what matters most is functionality. First off the ability to create specific passcodes and users on the lock is beyond useful when dealing with an Airbnb. I know my contractor, cleaners, and tentants all have access but only specific people have specific access at specific times. The tenants I can set up a timeframe the lock works for them and ensure disables when they check out. The one hope I have is that there will be third party integrates with management platforms where it soon will just create the keys and interface with the Aqara platform and save a step. That's a huge nice to have and doesn't contribute to the overall rating. The lock interfaces well with the doorbell for remote unlock with the hub as well for the times you need to unlock a spur the moment visitor. The lock works well with Apple HomeKit and NFC/Bluetooth that it truly is as easy as tapping your phone just like ApplePay. Simply put, this product is reliable and secure and don't worry a lockout or battery dying is not end all be all as it has external USB-C to repower the device and a mechanical key override for reentry.

Much better than my current Lock
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love love love this lock so much, that I'm supposed to be moving really soon and this is coming with me! It is so much better than my current fingerprint lock, and it also has much better features also! I just found out that you compare the lock with the doorbell and when someone's faces recognize!! That definitely would be phenomenal for me because, a lot of times, I have a lot of stuff in my hand and have to struggle to put my finger on the sensor to open the door. The one thing that I don't like is the fact that they went with a plastic knob instead of a quality metal one. It doesn't make much sense to me to have something so high-quality with that cheap part. I love using the fingerprint sensor which is really accurate and fast, unlike my old fingerprint lock. I also really like the fact that I can send someone a temporary code when need be and then turn it off whenever I'm ready. I also like that they went simple with the keys, and also I like the part that hides the keyhole, that you wouldn't even know was there unless someone told you. I have never heard of this company aqua until now, what he seems like they make top-notch quality products and they make them affordable.

Loaded with Features but....
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The door from my garage to the house is metal made to look like wood. It seems standard size but I do not think it is- maybe slimmer than wood. I am constantly fumbling with keys when my hands are full, and wanted a lock with some options, like being able to unlock for family members when I am away without giving them a key they will misplace! Enter the Aqara Smart Lock. In the box were all the necessary components including screws, hardware, and a hub. Also, included were 2 fobs which turned out to be very useful. The lock itself is very square and bland. All metal except the keypad. I have some issues with the touchpad showing long-time use, hence the possible codes, but only time will tell. Mostly, I will be using fingerprint or Apple Home Key with Apple watch. The fobs might also be a nice option. I had some issues installing the lock on my door because it was somewhat different from a regular wooden door. After some shifting around, I did get it to fit be it extremely close to the other door handle. Setting up the lock was moderately easy, with some quirky pairing issues and an Apple home key. Fingerprint pairing took a few minutes before I was able to figure it out. The lock uses 4 regular AA batteries, which are supposed to last about 8 months with normal use. That led to some anxiety, as batteries tend to be unpredictable, especially in a hot garage. I was pleased to see a USBC port for just that very situation, which was great. The lock operated well, somewhat of a delay but nothing bad. Fingerprint was the slowest. I am pleased so far with the lock and look forward to setting up the best way to use it with full hands. I wish the fingerprint reader was not in the middle front, but rather on the side, or maybe the top. The key lock is well hidden behind the face plate, but I don't intend to use that much. I like it. Wish it wasn't so bland!

It's ok, but not for the money
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The smart home segment is getting pretty crowded, doesn't matter if it's locks, cameras, sensors, you name it. Aqara (read: Xiaomi) has a handful of new devices that are showing up in this smart home segment, and for the most part they seem to ride the budget end of the spectrum (even if the pricing does not). Enter the Aqara U100 Smart Lock. It looks a lot like most smart locks out there, contains similar features, though it requires the included zigbee adapter (USB powered) and is powered by AA batteries (which is common for smart locks), I do appreciate that it is compatible with Matter (for those of you that dont know, Matter is the new single 'protocol' for lack of a better word, that is designed to combine all of the smart home devices across the spectrum and has been built by the major players (Amazon, etc) to prevent this issue where we have so many competing standards (Alexa, Homekit, Google Home, Zigbee, Zwave, etc). Unboxing is straightforward, the lock, the hardware, the batteries, all included. It looks and feels like most options in the segment. Installation was straightforward for a lock as one would hope, and that's fine and good. But when it comes to setting it up with the Aqara app, that's where the good stops. The Aqara app is atrocious. It looks identical to some other cheap branded smart home devices, it seems it was either developed by the same developers or it's the same company. Either way, getting the app to see the device isn't necessarily difficult, but connecting it to the device can be a challenge. Also interestingly about this device it uses the Zigbee to communicate to the hub, though 2.4GHz wifi from the hub. Do yourself a favor and turn off your 5GHz band while setting this up as the app gets confused if there is a 5GHz and 2.4GHz band with the same name and tends to ignore it. If you can manage to get it to be seen, at that point things are somewhat straightforward. The featureset looks decent, but the app is just not great. In all honesty when compared to some of the major competitors out there that have been in the locking business for longer than most of us have been alive, this is just not the best option. It's an average smart lock that needs a hub which is uncommon these days, requires AA batteries and it is not rechargeable. The app is pretty bad, and the price is not any better than the competitors. I'd say stick with the known brands, which tends to have more features, more support and better apps.

A compelling bargain for HomeKit users
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Aqara is on a quest to create the best HomeKit ecosystem and I'm here for it. Setup for this lock is pretty straightforward and only requires a Phillips-Head screwdriver. HomeKit also adds some interesting enhancements to this like the ability to use HomeKit Key which utilizes NFC and keeps you from having to fumble thru your phone for apps. Home also enables automations like Lock After Door Closes and Lock When Leaving Home. The lock itself is really bulky and not the most pleasing, aesthetically, but it does have a IP65 rating. The lock is battery-powered (AA) which isn't ideal, but it does have the option of juicing the lock over USB-C or using the manual key in the event of an emergency. Inviting guest users is easy, with the ability to assign up to 75 pin codes or up to 50 fingerprints and what's nice is, these are all stored locally on the device instead of being uploaded to a third party cloud. You can also set an Away Mode where it triggers notifications and/or an automation in the event that the door is unlocked from the inside or with a key and it also has a lockout mode after too many incorrect attempts. The only thing I wish the alarm had was a siren both for the lockout mode or for brute force attempts to breach it.
