Not Worth It

As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. Super disappointed. It will work just fine then all of a sudden, you can't get it to work for anything!

Never recommend Arlo camera

They lie about all features and when you call the contact #, they are fake numbers. They use fine prints to charge you extra for primeum that doesnt work. Horrible device.

KEEP YOUR MONEY

Its very disappointing because the reviews made it seem like it was a good product but it's not worth the money. I only gave one star because it couldn't be rated less. Also, you have to pay a monthly fee.

The setup was surprisingly straightforward. The camera's image quality at 1080P and its color night vision is pretty good. The 130-degree field of view ensures excellent coverage. The battery life has been truly impressive in the five days at my front door outside. It's worked without issue so far. The two-way audio feature proves quite handy for quick communication, and smartphone integration operates seamlessly. Real-time alerts and remote camera access have brought peace of mind, especially for monitoring my porch. What's also worth mentioning are the cloud storage options provided by Arlo. They offer flexible plans, including using the local storage on the onboard storage, allowing you to choose what suits your needs and budget. It's a valuable addition for securing your recorded footage. The only thing I was not to thrilled about was the mounting of the camera. I would like a option to adjust where the camera points to. You have to be sure of placement with this one. Outside of that I like it. In just these five days, the Arlo Fall Security System 3 has proven user-friendly and reliable, making it a top choice for those seeking enhanced security and convenience. I highly recommend it.

Small camera that shows a big picture

All functionality is directed by first installing the Arlo Secure: Home Security app. After securing the mounting plate to the wall, I easily slid the camera to lock on the plate. Once I connected my Wi-Fi to the Arlo - Essential 1-Camera Outdoor Wireless HD Security Camera (2nd Generation) with Color Night Vision – White, I had the ability to watch and record video in HD, on my mobile phone. Not only is video shown clearly during daytime hours, but nighttime video and surveillance is also possible with its Color Night Vision. I can receive notifications and watch live streaming video from the Arlo - Essential 1-Camera Outdoor Wireless HD Security Camera (2nd Generation) with Color Night Vision – White when motion is detected. I like the ability to listen and speak with people outside my home with its Two-Way audio noise cancelling. Even though it is not a weapon to give protection from any form of violence, it can freeze or scare an intruder by using the spotlight function to shine on a trespasser. And I also have the ability to use my high pitch Integrated Siren manually or automatically to attack the ears of an intruder for deterrence. It comes with a rechargeable battery that holds its charge for a long time. The conditions of the weather does not impede the Arlo - Essential 1-Camera Outdoor Wireless HD Security Camera (2nd Generation) with Color Night Vision – White from functioning at all. I feel more prepared for keeping my home secure with the Arlo - Essential 1-Camera Outdoor Wireless HD Security Camera (2nd Generation) with Color Night Vision – White.

Does not work half the time

Thanks for sharing your review. If you're having problems viewing your live feed on your Arlo Essential Outdoor 2K Camera, a reboot of the camera should fix the live stream connection issues. To reboot, press and hold the camera's Pairing Button until the LED turns solid blue (approximately 30 seconds). Once the LED turns solid blue the Arlo Essential Camera will reboot.

Impressive low light quality and value
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I feel like I've reviewed a ton of security cameras at this point, which makes it seem strange to me that I'm just now getting the chance to use an Arlo camera as they were pioneering devices in the outdoor wireless space. The Essential camera that I'm reviewing is a pretty nice standalone device that is very compact for a totally wireless camera. Setup was pretty easy, although initially I had some issues activating the camera that may have been due to getting it early. I ended up waiting a few days before trying again, and the process in the app ended up working flawlessly afterwards. I expect that whatever initial kink I was running into is not something normal users would face. My home network has a dedicated 2.4ghz radio for IoT devices so I attached the camera to this network with ease. All of this was accomplished with the Arlo app which is in itself easy to use. The app does push the subscription service for the camera but I'd classify it as less annoying than some other services I've used. Video quality is pretty good. I was especially impressed with the low light quality considering how compact this camera is without much space for a huge array of IR LEDs like some other cameras have. My only complaint is that it seems to switch to low-light/black-and-white mode a little sooner than other cameras I've used (ie, when there's still a little light in the environment). The black-and-white mode has decent resolution and low noise, though. My biggest complaint with the camera is the mounting mechanism doesn't seem to be designed to easily detach the camera to charge it. If you mount the camera somewhere that it's going to be difficult to connect to a charger in-place, this could be a little frustrating. I think you could use a flat-head screwdriver or some other implement to slightly bend the plastic and reduce the tension on the mount, but then it would be less secure, so that's a tough call. I'm planning on occasionally connecting a USB power pack to the camera to top it up.

2nd Gen Arlo

Had an approximate 50% charge, so I charged the camera to full per recommendation before set up! The included USB C cable is definitly worth using due to it fits properly in the charging cavity. The other C cables I own were too large. I had a super difficult time paring and linking to my 2.4ghz network using the app and stopped trying after approx 2 hours. Tried again the next night and was successful. Picture Quality and spread was very good HD. I did notice an approimately 2 second latency from camera to phone so real time for my experience had a delay. Now that could depend on your network speed. The led light is very bright and activated every time but I eventually turned it off in the app. Night color vision was good but only available with the light turned on. I am using the camera during the Trial period, using all the extras such as 30 day cloud storage, emergency services and camera functions. You will loose these extras after the trial unless you sign up for a subscription and there are different levels. Based on the camera performance which in my experience is slightly sluggish, but considering the low cost of purchase this camera will be ok for live view (no subscription) if you want to just keep and extras view on things.

It's a clear cam with drawbacks

I have the HD version; it has a 130° field of view. And also has integrated spotlight for dark areas to improve night view. Not to mention it has a color night vision display. The camera also includes two-way audio so that you can talk to people who are at the camera and communicating real time. It is an indoor and outdoor use camera, so that makes it really versatile for any type of installation. All the hardware needed to mount the camera comes included. It also includes in all those secure plan trial but I have not yet used it to its full potential. And honestly, the software does not really do anything without the subscription to that program. It’s a good camera with an inferior interface without payment. It’s not very easy to navigate. Maybe they’ll work it out later and updates. My bottom line is a pretty decent camera but missing a nice free interface. But it is an affordable option.

The app is easy to use and navigate. I will be considering buying one for the back of my home. I highly recommend.
