To get even basic features, you’re forced into an expensive subscription, which makes the already overpriced hardware feel like a bait-and-switch. Even with the subscription, the video quality is mediocre at best, and the audio is muddy and unreliable. For the cost, the performance is simply unacceptable and far behind competitors.

No, Arlo cameras do not require a subscription to access basic features such as live streaming and motion or audio notifications. However, subscribing unlocks additional features, including 60-day Video History, Advanced Object Detection, Activity Zones, 24/7 Emergency Response, and more.
