    Arlo just keeps getting better!

After being several years and several generations into the camera game, Arlo sure does know how to put out some great security cameras. This is my third set of Arlo cameras and they continue to impress me as each new version gets better and better. This time around, this kit is definitely the best yet. They are now smaller and have a smaller profile, every little bit helps as a way to make them more inconspicuous. It also helps keep them out of the elements just that much more and weigh less on their mounts as well. This time around the setup was the easiest by far, I am glad I will no longer have to have a base station near our router as they tend to be an eyesore. The app needed to be updated before I could use these and once I was using the new version I realised not only have they improved their cameras, but also their app! It was very easy moving through the steps of setting up each camera, the app did most of the work for me. Once all working, I noticed the response time, the sensitivity, and the video quality! All heavily improved over the previous versions, the video is very crisp even in the dark. The one change that I honestly am not a fan of is the mounting system on this kit over previous versions. This mounting system is much more cumbersome to use, not so user friendly. And they feel a bit more fragile as I already broke a tab off one of the mounts. It really concerns me as we are going into the colder months and I'm not sure this thin plastic will be able to handle the cold. I was a big fan of the older mount system that was a rounded magnet mount, it was very user friendly and easy to use and I’m surprised Arlo went away with it. Overall this kit is super handy to have around our house, it is so nice tuning into our home while at work or travelling and keeping an eye on things, and I could not imagine having that ability now that I am so used to it. I have and will continue to recommend Arlo cameras to anyone I know who is looking to purchase security cameras!

Impressive Picture Quality and Total Flexibility

The Arlo Essential Outdoor Cam is a solid camera, with complete wireless flexibility and good picture quality. Other than some issues getting the camera connected to my network, I've had a good experience with it and would recommend anyone seeking this type of camera give this one a look. Setup was unfortunately not straight forward for me. Upon downloading the app and firing up the camera, I was greeted with an error saying that the camera was unable to connect to my network. I have an Asus ET12 mesh network, and I've had zero issues getting other devices connected, so I was a bit puzzled. Thankfully, Arlo's support team was very responsive and willing to help. Eventually, I was able to get the cam connected and it was smooth sailing from there. Picture quality with this cam is very good. I have some experience with other cameras from Nest, Simplisafe, and Logitech, and of the lot, the Arlo looks the sharpest to my eye in daylight, owed to the fact that this one an shoot in 2k. Night shots look about as expected as well, though this does have a feature none of my other cameras has; color night sight. I personally choose to leave it in infrared based night vision, but it's nice to have the option. As with all of these types of cameras, it's worth a caveat in terms of usability; if you want to unlock the full power of this cam, you'll need to pay up for a subscription. While live viewing works, along with some other base level features like push notifications, if you want to unlock full usability, you'll be on the hook for a sub. Doing so will unlock a number of features in the app, including 30 days history/events, more intelligent activity detection and alerts, activity zones, etc. Overall, this cam has a lot of features, provided you decide to add a subscription. It marries these features with complete flexibility and impressive picture quality to provide one of the best camera options out there.

Great Bundle for your Home security.

There are so many choices out there for outdoor security cameras, after doing some research and lots of reading and watching, I decided to go with Arlo brand and in particular with their set of 4 cameras suited for outdoors use. All of these cameras are wireless and are running off the battery. I figured it is better to buy a bundle of four cameras and save some money that way instead of buying each one separately. Arlo made is pretty easy to do the install. All you have to do is to figure out location of each camera that you would like to install and cover the areas you want covered. However you have to remember since these cameras are running on battery power, think ahead as you will have to take them down to recharge. Now the battery lasts about 5 months, which is really good (the company claims 6 months, however depending on how busy the area is, your camera will send you notifications each time it senses motion, etc.) I am thinking of purchasing solar panels for two of my cameras so that I could have them installed in a spot that is hard to get to but covers the most area. Video quality is superb in my opinion, I find that it is very crisp and 1080p resolution is more than enough for me, even at night the camera can produce color images thanks to the built in spotlight, but in my case it does not matter really. As far as video storage, it is cloud based which does require a subscription, which is somewhat of a bummer however this is how the company will continue existing and innovating in my opinion. You don't have to subscribe and still get notifications, so that is a plus in my book. I believe you can also buy a separate hub that will enable local storage for your needs, I have not looked into that yet. All in all, I wanted to a good camera quality, easy install, and good app to check on my property and be informed from time to time, and this Arlo set just does it for me.

This will be my third Arlo product I've used. I had the single outdoor wireless security camera, and the Arlo Safe Family Bundle. I really loved the wireless outdoor camera until it started having connection issues when switching to a 5ghz router from my 2.4ghz. Even though I switched back I have not been able to get it to recognize or reconnect. So with this set I'm hoping to get my security back and add a few others at the same time to get more coverage. Physically these are nicely designed well made and sealed tight to endure inclement weather. And here in Virginia we get it all from rain, sleet, snow, tornadoes, haha. So these feel bulletproof so to speak. To start off these are very similar to my first camera, wireless, with spot light and built in siren. Information says they'll last 6 months on a full charge but my last one did as well and didn't last quite that long before having to take down and recharge. To recharge these you will need to take the camera down itself to charge, it doesn't have a removable pack you can take out and charge. One of the things that happened to my last one that I see they haven't changed is they used a white rubbery silicone cover for the charge port on the bottom of the camera. This grew mildew, became discolored and got hard being in the weather The app has great features to tweak just how you want to use these and the notifications you receive. The color and clarity is excellent in day and even night mode. One new feature is the color mode at night which is really cool. It has two way voice and talk so you can speak with whoever is at your door or wherever you may have your cameras. Wireless saves the headache of running wires and a hectic install but you will have to take these down periodically to recharge them. Overall I'd highly recommend

    Easy to use camera solution

This is my second Arlo essential camera. Out of the cameras I have tested and use, Arlo has the best detection software. The essential cameras are best for someone who does not need a ton of cameras and just wants an easy to use out of the box solution. This camera comes with the camera, mounting hardware, and a charging cable. This is everything you will need to get started. Setting the camera up is pretty simple. The one downside is that all camera footage is stored in a cloud. This storage requires you to pay a subscription fee of approximately $5 a month for one camera or $12 a month for unlimited cameras. This will give you 30 days of storage with up to 4K resolution. The bonus to this service is that you do not need a hub or any wires. The only thing you will need is a wifi connection. My camera is approximately 50 ft from my router with all kinds of walls and furniture in between. I have never had a problem with losing connection. Even when my internet has gone down the camera reconnected when wifi became available. This camera can record in 2K which is high quality and allows you to see people's faces and cars well. Smart detection allows you to filter out things such as animals which can reduce unwanted notifications. Battery life is dependent on a number of factors. The biggest factor is going to be how many times it is detecting motion. Mine is placed in a high traffic area and I usually get about a month's battery life before needing to recharge. I believe that is worst case scenario. I have a solar panel from my old essential camera and unfortunately this generation essential camera has USB-C and is not compatible. If I use a micro USB to USB-C adapter it might work, but I have yet to try. The Solar panel extends the battery life significantly during the summer and spring time. During the winter cold months battery life will be worse. If you are looking for an easy to use, high definition camera solution, then the Arlo essential series is for you. This is also a great solution for anyone who lives in an apartment or somewhere that it is harder to mount cameras. It is also weatherproof, allowing it to be used outdoors year round.

The Arlo 2nd Gen security camera is a standard entry level camera when you've set your gaze on the Arlo family of procucts. Wires are becoming a thing of the past or a thing that only big corporations use (CCTV) and the home user has a wireless camera, doorbell, or some device that uploads videos to a cloud service. When you first get the camera, you'll need to download the Arlo app on your smartphone. The app will guide you through the entire setup process, which is pretty straightforward. Once you've downloaded the app, you'll create an Arlo account and follow the on-screen instructions to connect the camera to your Wi-Fi network. The app will provide step-by-step instructions, making it easy to get your camera up and running and pretty quickly too. Arlo offers a couple of options when it comes to subscriptions and they all have their perks. With the free subscription, you can enjoy basic features such as live streaming, some motion detection alerts but nothing too fancy, and two-way audio. Now, if you opt for the paid subscriptions, you have three called; Secure, SecurePlus, Safe and Secure Pro. These include features like advanced object detection, which can distinguish between people, animals, and vehicles etc. You'll also get access to something like an e911 Emergency Call Service once you set it up in the app but this is only available on their highhest tier which is the Safe and Secure Pro. Bottom line the camera is great, great audio, crisp and clear footage and the nightvision gies this a much better value since crime happens a bit more during night time or dusk and the USB-C charging makes up for the speed in which a camera needs to charge. I'd recommend this for a couple of reasons. Arlo is a great company, they make sturdy products with the homeowner in mind. They're elegant and offer a variety of security options to add on to your ever-growing arsenal of home monitoring systems. You can count on them to work and be efficient. I highly recommend this and anything Arlo.

Not too long ago, I purchased an Arlo Indoor/Outdoor camera to replace a different camera that was longer usable. Of course, I was and still am happy with that camera but then I found myself in need of another camera. I noticed that there was some strange activity going on in the backyard, under the fence. Something was trying to dig into the yard late at night. And since I couldn’t be watching that area at 2 am, I decided to use an Arlo Essential Camera. Setting Up: I cannot express how easy setting up the Arlo camera is. It’s pretty much ready out of the box. It comes with a wall mount, wall plate, screws, and an indoor charging cable. I place this Arlo up in an elevated corner of my medium-sized backyard. I secured this camera on a wood fence post, pointing it at the back alley that is flush with various plants. Whether you’re handy with tools or not, installing the wall mount is incredibly easy. Once the wall mount is placed, the Arlo camera can be maneuvered for your ideal zone of activity. Pairing the Arlo camera with the Wi-Fi is easy as well. It’s not overwhelming to those who might not be tech-savvy. Download the app, sync it with your camera and you are all set. Extra Set of Eyes: At any time, you can check the status of the camera or set it up to get notifications when there’s movement detected. The light on the camera will illuminate the area, allowing you to see what is going on. Even without the built-in light activated, the night vision provided through the camera is solid. My new Arlo alerted me when there was motion activity happening around 2:15 in the morning. It turned out that there was a pair of raccoons that were trying to get under the fence. I reinforced the bottom of the fence and the two critters have yet to come back. Variety of Uses: Whether you want a camera to monitor your backyard, or front door, or to watch over holiday decorations that you might have on the front lawn, having a camera keeping an eye on and recording the activities allows you to be prepared for whatever might happen.

Good Camera Out of My Service Due to Awful Mount

I was really looking forward to trying this camera as I have had a small army of Arlo products (mainly cameras) both 1st generation and some HD models that released later. These cameras were mounted to my house and used Arlo solar panels to charge them. They were terrific. They all had to first be paired to a base station that was connected to your router/modem but after that they really worked well. Enter the generation 2 Essential Outdoor camera. You no longer need a base to setup these cameras and that's great - one less thing to have break. In fact, setting up this camera was very easy and I was up and running in 10 min. This camera comes with a free trial of Arlo's monitoring service and after the trial their plans start at $5/month. I personally will not pay for the storage after the trial period as I prefer to manage my camera's storage myself using my NAS and cloud storage as a backup. The cameras video quality is very good and you could easily decipher details from a video. the stand/mount for this camera is just about the worst I've ever used offering zero angle adjustment and should just be omitted in your setup as I was forced to do. As for now, the camera just rests on it's side in my garage and the software doesn't adjust so my car is on it's side until Arlo decides to add landscape functionality to the app. The camera's battery will last you about a week or two tops if you set the built-in LED to light on movement. The light does add another visual security cue to alert thieves' that they are indeed being watched and that the owner has been notified and will be there in minutes or seconds. If you can plug in this camera you would have a much better experience by not having to charge it weekly but nothing will fix the awful mounting solution Arlo provided this time around.

Avoid these cameras, they are visual deterrants at best. The 4 camera system is a cheap entry level package priced properly to catch your attention and leave you with buyer's remorse. The video quality during the daytime is acceptable, however, they are not true 2K and the image quality when zoomed in on is essentially useless. Night vision is an absolute joke as it does not adjust light sensitivity/white balance automatically. Meaning if you enable night vision and have any lights in the surrounding area (even a neighbors porch light), the image will be either extremely dark and unusable or extremely bright and unusable. You will have to manually go into the software and adjust the "brightness" every single time night vision is activated. The software does not allow you to program/schedule the cameras to automatically adjust. We've given up entirely on the night vision at this point on 3 of the 4 cameras. In addition to that, the night vision video quality is far worse than standard, you cannot zoom in to use the footage at all to get any sort of details. The activity zones are terrible, cameras are still constantly triggered by things outside of the zones. Battery life is atrocious - if you actually want to secure your home and keep the cameras armed, you'll need to also buy 4 additional Arlo charging cables to keep these plugged into outlets 24/7. We have two cameras on the front of our home, one of which needs to be charged every 2 days, the other every 3 days. Both have the same level of activity and are triggered back-to-back. When the cameras go into "low battery mode" they become hyper active, ignore all your in-app filter settings, and begin spamming motion alerts non-stop for anything and everything. Regarding the battery life issue - Arlo tech support recommends to actually lower your motion sensitivity and to not have your system armed as often... defeating the entire purpose of a camera system. Connectivity is spotty at times, even on a small property with the cameras less than 30 feet from our router, we needed to get a wifi extender to keep two of the cameras on our network. Note: We do not have any connectivity issues with any other wireless devices anywhere in our home. Beyond that, installation is easy.. setup is easy.. Everything else about these is a money grab and a waste of time/money.

I have multiple arlo cameras but this one is a newer model. In fact, I couldn't get into my account since I no longer had my old email address or my old cell. It took multiple communications with their support to finally learn they would have to close my old account and start a new one. They would reset my old cameras tobe available to use on the new account. Once I got the new account running, I was able to add this camera to the account. The video is crystal clear. Much better than my previous cameras. Set up was easy once I got my new account. The notifications are better now and identify the different alerts: Animal, vehicle, and person motion alerts. I like the change. The home page of the app allows to add widgets of the cameras to the homepage in whatever configuration you would like. Gives alerts for low battery as well. I want to set this up with a previous camera's solar charger, but I'm waiting on my micro to USB C adapter to arrive. I'm hoping that will work to keep it charged for the most part. I know from previous experience it used to be a slower drain and we'd still have to charge it every couple of weeks. I used to just rotate my cameras but not going to do this now since this one is meant to stay outside. I'll continue to keep it aimed at my front door.

I've been using this camera for a while and it's great. The camera itself is slightly larger than the other brands I have with similar features but this one has the best app and looks a little more premium. The camera is quick and easy to set up on WIFI. It nice not having a base or main unit you need to have in a central location. My WIFI already covers my entire property but the ones that require a base never had good reception everywhere so this one results in quicker connections and better video quality. I had to adjust several of the default settings to get the camera to act how I wanted it to but I was able to get everything how I wanted. The video is clear and the notifications are great. Most have a moving image which is a nice feature that saves having to open the video recording in most instances. It also does a good job of selecting the part of the video you'd want to see. The battery has a good life and the options are very thorough. My major problem with this is the forced trial when you set up the camera. You can cancel it after through the app which is nice but I think it's wrong that there was no way I could choose to not sign up in the first place. I hope they adjust that in future updates. Night vision isn't as great as a couple other cameras as it relies more on the spotlight then other cameras I've had but it does a decent job for what I needed. Overall I would recommend this camera for it's options and ease up setup/install. Just don't force a trial at setup, even if it's free.

The Arlo - Essential 1-Camera Outdoor Wireless 2K Security Camera is a great first camera for a home security system. Set up was pretty quick, the app can be a little finicky (most seem to be nowadays). The unit itself has a nice form factor, it's not something that is an eye sore either. I was able to mount this above my front door at the front porch. The first thing I noticed is the image quality for both day and night. Images and videos for both day and night are excellent. This is probably the most important thing about the camera and it excels in this. This camera also provides 2-way communication as well. This is nice as we have an 8 year old that excitedly greets people at the door. I'm able to now quickly see who is at the door before my kid sprints to the door. My only real issue with this camera is the same as others, subscriptions. This one has 2 different subscriptions, starting at $4.99 a month up to $17.99 a month. The constant nickel and diming by these companies is egregious at this point. If you can look past paying a subscription fee for additional services and features you will be thrilled by this camera. If you need something with a live feed, notifications and 2 way live video/audio this is a good purchase, even without the ridiculous subscriptions.

Keeping your home and family secure should be everyone's priority. This is why I have a security camera system in my home. We have all heard about the terrible things that have been happening lately, including home invasions, so I wanted to keep my family safe. Aside from my hardwired camera system, I like to have a wireless system as well. The main reason being that you can mount a wireless camera just about anywhere in your home (within range of course). I've been using Arlo wireless cameras for a long time now. When the opportunity came up to test their new camera system, I jumped on it. Not only is Arlo a great system that is very reliable, but they also have great aftermarket support. The essential pack is more than enough for a small home. I install one in every corner of my house. Mounting is also very easy, as they come with just about everything you need. Make sure to charge and setup the cameras before installing them in their semi-permanent locations. The arlo app has been good to me. I can't really complain about it. Setup is just a few easy steps that you follow via their app. Once you get that going, you are good to go. I would highly recommend the Arlo essential pack to anyone.

I found this camera to be solid in quality at a reasonable price. The documentation is fine, there are also online support pages available if you getconfused. You do need to ensure you know some fundamental things the first time you set up the camera. One point is there are subscription levels available but you don’t need a subscription, especially at first, as you try things out. Another important point is that the camera will not detect motion unless the system is armed to Home or Away. However, the camera can be used even in Standby Mode if you want to look at the live stream, but nothing is recorded. Finally the recordings go to the cloud which is best since you want them safe and accessible. I did already have the Arlo Secure app so I followed directions and added this 2nd generation Essential Outdoor Camera to the Arlo Hub. The options and settings are logical and intuitive. This Arlo security system is very simple to set up and works flawlessly. The camera light will only come on if the area is dark. This is a reasonable design point. The camera can be constant or flashing. When it is flashing it does not go completely off and then on; instead it goes high intensity and low intensity. I like this design point since its slow flash does not create a hectic on/off cycle. You can set the intensity level of the light as well.  You can set up multiple zones or a single zone to cause the camera to record and you can vary the length of the recordings. Be sure to go through all the settings so you are familiar with the camera including 'Routines'. I found that this low price camera has a lot of options that enable you to set things up exactly as you might prefer – tip of the cap to the engineers at Arlo. The camera has specs in terms of night vision that included night color vision. The night videos were not super clear but just adequate.  If you get confused doing your setup you can always reset things back to the factory level and start over. The way to do this is to attempt to pair the camera again using the convenient button on the top of the camera. I did connect using the 2.4 GHz WiFi which was required. I also found the mounting process with the included hardware to be really well thought out by Arlo which made it easy to mount the camera on any surface. The camera is rechargeable and this helps avoid any wiring to get your camera installed so it is completely wireless. The battery is rated to last 6 months, but I’m sure this will depend on usage. I expect the design point where the camera will not detect motion and record clips unless the system is armed is to help ensure a longer battery life, so that's a smart design. Lastly, I went to the support site and brought up the online version of the quick start manual I had received with the camera. The support site has very helpful troubleshooting information if needed – well done. I can certainly recommend this very well thought out security camera.

I will start this off with a preface that I have been using Arlo cameras for several years and this is my third model. The setup and install was fairly easy but I have had practice. The improvements over previous models are clear. The images are clearer and brighter (offering color images in the dark when they used to be black/white) and better battery life. I cannot tell if the wireless range is improved or not. Also, if you are adding to an existing system, great. If not then you will also need to purchase the base station hub. This only includes cameras. So first in the box is: 4 cameras with mounting hardware to drill/screw into your interior/exterior walls USB-C charging cord, but no wall brick plug super short setup instructions (may need more info from the app or online) a yard sign to advertise for Arlo. You will need to install & setup the App if you do not already have a system installed. I needed to update my app to use the new cameras. You will need to charge the cameras to get a full charge but mine arrived w/ around 50% battery. FYI they only provide one cord so you can charge 1 at a time unless you have additional cords/plugs. So far I have had them running for 2 weeks and they are still at 80% (much better than my old ones that would need charging 1-2 times per month if used frequently) The directions to setup cameras in the app is pretty good & you can just follow them step by step to sync and connect. You should name them so you can identify them later & label the actual camera too. FYI if you have an existing system you can just add them rather than starting over. & if you are retiring cameras just delete them after. Be aware to check your settings and notifications. I had problems getting notifications and had to reset everything. The Arlo help team was good. You should probably go through and reset all your notifications anyway to be safe. I had to search on how to mount the cameras, but basically you screw in the small sliding clip to the back of the camera, then screw in the wall clip into the wall. The camera & clip will slide into the mount. Once they are installed aim and setup your app settings. Some features on the new app version quick change settings ARM AWAY; ARM HOME; STANDBY. You can preset these 3 and add others if you like. You can set certain cameras to be active or not based on if you are home/etc. You can use the cameras to communicate to someone (use the speaker if you are away and need to talk to a delivery person like Ring)-this is an old feature but cool. There is an emergency feature w/ siren you can turn on . Lots of other stuff to test out. There is a free trial w/ the cameras for extended video services, but once done I use the free version and you can only save 7 days of video before it overwrites.
