Poor Night Vision

Couldn't connect

The first problem is that it requires 2.4 GHz wifi. Xfinity wifi does not separate out 2.4 GHz. It took multiple hours of tech support to separate out the 2.4 GHz. After that, the Arlo was still not able to read the QR code and establish connection. I returned it after more than a week of struggle.

Thank you for your review. The Essential Indoor Camera is only compatible with a 2.4 GHz network. Alternatively, if your wireless network works best at 5 GHz you can choose to connect your Arlo Camera to an Arlo Smart Hub which would be a workaround to the connection problems you were experiencing.

Excellent camera as part of a great system!

When this became available, we new we wanted it as part of our system. It is nice to know what is going on at home during the day when we keep the dog in the living room. We can check and make sure she hasn't torn into anything. Something we really like about this camera is the very obvious privacy shield that flips in and out of place with a snazzy *click* sound. No one wants to feel spied on and this camera assures that isn't happening. The video quality for this camera is great too. It seems to do better in bright light then I anticipated and keeping the video from getting bleached out, just like its outdoor counterparts! Overall, as a standalone unit or in cooperation with other Arlo security cameras, I highly recommend this!

Don't get this if you don't want a hassle.

So i tried to use a laptop instead, and it chimes but that's as far as it goes. I'm gonna look on for another device because this is getting very annoying.

Great camera, i love it!!

It makes me feel safe and secure, and it has an alarm. This shows motions from people animals and more. It's an amazing camera great quality. Thank you for making me feel safe, with this arlo camera. Nice little camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve owned and used Arlo cameras for a few years now, they are some of my favorite security cameras and Arlo’s wired indoor camera is no exception. Very easy to set up on your phone through the Arlo app, you don’t need a base for this one, you can just connect it to your homes Wi-Fi, or if you do have a base you can add it on there with your other existing Arlo cameras. This particular camera is wired meaning you have to plug it in, and it’s for indoor use only, meaning it’s most likely not waterproof. At 1080p, this camera delivers a decent picture. And overall the camera is of good quality.

Faulty unit

Tried different ways including a factory reset and still couldn’t add it to my arlo set. Had to return. Other than this cam I’ve had great success with Arlo.

I couldn't connect to it on wifi.

I'm not sure if this is an extra camera that needs a base unit in order to work, but I could not get it to work at all. I hear the camera is great, but it's a donut if it doesn't work.

Arlo Essential Indoor Camera more than essential!

The videos are sharp and the microphone so sensitive that picks up the minimum noise. I like that I can close the lens if I am in the room, to avoid the unnecessary recording. It also has a standby mode. The lens captures a wide angle. It also allows 2-way talk. I am happy with my purchase so far.

Absolute garbage

Great indoor camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had a couple of the Arlo Floodlight cameras set up on the exterior of my house, but have those set up to alert for movement over night. The Arlo Essential Indoor Camera was a great option to add a camera in the living room to watch multiple entries into the house. With the Geofencing I got it setup to monitor and alert us when no one is home, the rest of the time it sits idle so we don't get constant alerts. The privacy shutter is nice, you can easily tell when the camera is not open to view, but you can easily open the privacy shield with the click of a button in the app. Since I already had the Arlo App and Account, it took just a few minutes to add the wifi and add it to view. It did come with a three month trial with Arlo, but I just added it to my membership. The camera comes with a wall mount and cable, I can easily place the camera on top of my bookshelf and plug it into the outlet around the base of the wall, it's likely not long enough to go to the floor, but it's a decent length. I'm sure you can find a longer cable to use since it isn't proprietary. Video quality is pretty good, it's clean enough to see my entry way and tell who comes in and out. Zoom gets pixelated quick, but I just want to monitor the space, so that wasn't a big deal. Arlo does offer cameras with higher capture quality, the price just was great for my use. Definitely no complaints on this product, I started getting Arlo off of a recommendation and would happily recommend it to others!

Stopped Working

Highly recommend this security camera.

Allows me to keep an eye on my entry points when I’m away and allows me to easily disable or use the built in privacy screen when I’m home. Easy to use and the ability to talk with the camera is a great feature.

Reliable and Private

We recently purchased the indoor for further protection. The picture quality is as good as the outdoor cameras night vision. I like the fact that we can leave the privacy screen up until we need the camera.

Nice addition to my already huge Arlo setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My home is already wrapped in Arlo, every outside corner on the house and garage is covered giving myself and neighbors great coverage. I was missing an indoor camera for the front porch and this filled that perfectly. With the Arlo Essential Indoor Camera, I now know when packages are delivered inside the door by UPS and can see if anyone tries to enter and take them. Even though I have outdoor, that was still not enough for me. Setup was easy and straightforward. Plug in, log into Arlo, setup new camera and boom, it works. Video quality is nice and easily seen on a phone or computer screen. You can even zoom in and the clarity is still nice, better than most banks or seven 11s. The footprint is small, just needs an outlet close. I sat mine on a table but comes with a wall mount as well. If you want a nice indoor camera for security purposes, look at this Arlo, you will be pleased. Please note, there is a fee to use their service that saves the data on their end. I would like an option to save locally but I have not figured out if there is yet and searching has come up blank on the subject. I would still recommend this to a friend or family member.
