The best wireless spotlight camera, I recommend it

Amazed at how poor the battery life is with these cameras. In a matter of days, the battery runs down. It's really inconvenient to have to get a ladder and take them down to charge them. I'm sure there are way better options out there. Don't waste your money on these.

The good far outweighs the bad, but pay attention to my one warning when deciding where to mount the camera. Arlo has done a lot of improvements with the camera and the mounting bracket. Early models had a magnetic base which worked ok, but made it easy for a squirrel to move or knock down. Later designs also used a magnetic base that was a little stronger but would break at the base where it screwed into where you mounted it, The base on this camera is supported by 3 screws and the camera locks in place with a screw/pivot design that works really well. It reminds me of a mount for a camera on a tripod. The images are great, and easy to stream on most wireless networks. It is 1080p, but 4K on a camera like this is overkill. Audio is acceptable, reminds me of most door bell communications and quality. The spot light is bright and can be adjusted. This helps with night vision in color or a true night vision look. This is improved over previous models. You do NOT need an Arlo HUB, a very welcome addition and almost made me give this a 5 star rating. If you do have a hub, you can use that to store the video and images taken if it has the built in storage, some have micro-sd slots. Overall, this is a really nice camera and does everything it needs to. The spotlight is a great addition. One odd design decision made me drop a star. Using a micro-usb charging port is really odd when other models used a magnetic charge port or they could have used USB-C. Nothing more frustrating when trying to charge a camera than fighting with the cord blindly while on a ladder. . WARNING: The mounting bracket is well designed and very stable, but trying to charge the cam while mounted is a difficult proposition. Dismounting from the bracket can be difficult and pay attention to where you mount, otherwise it will be a pain to recharge every 6 months. I initially mounted it in a way I could not access the recharge port/see it to know which way the cable plugs in. It is very hard to get to the cover while the camera is mounted if the mount is above the camera.

It does everything you could hope for and then some.

I have a love-hate relationship with these cameras. Video quality is "ok"

It’s been 4 months since I bought it and the spotlight feature no longer turns on when armed and triggered by motion. I can still turn the spotlight on manually however I purchased for the automatic light feature which is now not working. I’ve reset. I’ve checked setting etc and nope. Just no longer works.

Great camera. Substitute for subscription monthly.

I like the camera, But if you have an issue, support sucks.

Good camera, while it does record in 1080p, it doesn't have the bandwidth to support it.

The battery life in this is not great says can last for 3-6 months once charged for 48 hours, but died every two weeks. And I traded it in twice

I don’t like the newer Arlo cameras. I have an older Arlo camera that records motion activated videos which you can view on a smartphone. The newer Arlo camera requires a monthly fee subscription in order to do the same thing. I bought two new Arlo cameras not knowing about the subscription requirement. Also, the newer cameras constantly goes "offline". My older Arlo does not have that problem. Two thumbs down for the new Arlo cameras.

Don’t have any idea how the spot light works. It never comes on.

We have used Arlo Pro for years and recently a couple of the cameras stopped recording so we decided to replace and upgrade to Essentials. I like the clarity and distance the new cameras provide as well as the spot light features. The alerts identify if it’s person or animal which is nice too. I didn’t expect the existing Alro Pro cameras to work with these but the Pro base allowed me to add them all together. Nice feature. I know the batteries last up to 6 months but we also bought the solar panels. Just installed them which was easy to do.

Decent range but the delay on it doesn't make it very good for real time viewing.

I wished Arlo would have a 24 hr monitoring option.
