Its a upgrade from a older model we had. The picture is much clearer and does so much better with the motion detection. .i love that it doesnt need a base like older models. And the spotlight is amazing to see better at night.

This camera system is absolutely amazing! It has a a wonderful video quality. The range of motion for the base is great and allows you to angle to camera very easily unlike others. The app is very user friendly as well.

Cameras work excellent day or night. Clear feeds . Great site line. Only negative! is wind If you have flags or bushes it activates the motion sensors kind of annoying My cat walks around the house sending motion messages all day

Arlo Essential Spotlight Camera Bottom Line Up Front: This is an excellent wireless (Wi-Fi) battery-powered security camera with very good resolution that works well during the day and through the night with motion detection. The spotlight improves nighttime operation by providing a bit more light. (During the first night of operation, the motion-detection captured a family of Florida Black Bears in my front yard!) Because this is a wireless security camera system, you’ll need a strong Wi-Fi signal in the 2.4GHz band. The charging port is on the bottom of the camera to keep water out. The camera is available in either white or black. What’s in the box: Camera (of course), 12-inch USB-A power cord; Adjustable Indoor/Outdoor Short Mount with three mounting screws; quick start guide Set-up: You can set up the camera(s) with either the Arlo app for your smartphone or your desktop computer. I think it’s easier on the smartphone since that’s where you will receive your notifications. Setup takes around 10 minutes using your smartphone (which is how I did it) and a few more minutes to install the mount. Compatibility: If you already have an Arlo security camera system, this will work with the following Arlo gateways: VMB4000 VMB4500 VMB4540 VMB5000. If you don’t have one of these gateways, you can connect directly to your Wi-Fi router. (See the Arlo website – Arlo.com.) It will also work with Apple Watch; Google Home Hub; Amazon Alexa but I don’t have any of these so I didn’t explore operations with them. Mounting: NOTE: This camera does NOT have the magnetic mounting circle that was present on older models. This camera has three options for mounts: The Adjustable Indoor/Outdoor Short Mount (It’s about 2 inches high and it comes in the package); or, as optional additional cost options, you can get the Outdoor Security Mount (4.8 inches tall and 2.3 inches wide) or an Outdoor Mount ( 2 inches tall). I used the Outdoor Security Mount because it provides a bit more stand-off from the mounting surface. Battery Life: Arlo advertises six months for this model saying the six-month figure is based on camera usage of 4000 seconds per month, 30 seconds per stream, and 2/3 day operations and 1/3 night events split. “Your mileage may vary” depending on many factors such as how you set the camera up, how often it’s triggered, and the temperature of the environment where you will use it. If you need longer battery life, Arlo says its Essential XL Spotlight Camera will provide 1 year of operation between charges. NOTE: You can use the battery charger from other older Arlo systems if you have one. I plan to purchase an Arlo solar panel to keep it charged all the time. PROS • Excellent resolution and field of view (130 degrees) • Very good night operation with the spotlight • Easy setup • Video can be saved to your smartphone • Two-way audio • Built-in siren CONS • The included charging cord is only 12-inches long (tip-to-tip) which my experience shows is too short. (I use a longer charging cord and AC adapter that came with a spare battery for my older Arlo Pro 2 camera package and it seems to work fine.) • To charge the battery, you must either take the camera indoors and plug in the charging adapter OR buy a solar cell (at additional cost) for continuous operation. • It does not offer Foresight (e.g., capturing 3 seconds of activity prior to activation). • To take full advantage of the camera’s capabilities (high-resolution recording, 30-day video cloud storage, identification of activity as a vehicle, person, animal, or package delivery, restrict motion sensing to limited areas to reduce alerts, and e911) you have to subscribe to an Arlo Smart Plan (starting at $2.99/month for one camera or $9.99 for up to five cameras). If you chose not to subscribe after your initial 90-day free trial, you can only live stream and receive general motion notifications.

This is an absolutely terrible app. It doesn't remember anything I tell it do. I set up my zone, smart notification(people, vehicles) and my library(people, vehicles). I get notifications for motion when I don't want that. I have to set the library over and over again. Smart notifications only work when it wants to. The camera eats the battery. The spotlight was coming on at all times when there was no reason for it. I tell the app to erase recordings, it doesn't do it. The camera seems to have a mind of it's own. Sensing motion, even though it is not supposed to, when nothing is there. I looked up reviews for cameras and Arlo was highly rated and recommended. I disagree with these reviews. The only positive is the picture is clear. I do NOT recommend this product.

Cameras work great and provide clear picture and are extremely helpful for viewing my apartment when I am not at home. Would recommend these products for anyone wanting good cameras at a decent price.

Great quality for a great price i needed proof of my grandmother sneaking into my apartment being a nosey rosey so i hit her with the siren and now maybe she”ll learn her lesson. Haha

We switched from Wyze to Arlo and couldn’t be happier. The picture is SO clear on both the doorbell and spotlight camera. We love all the security features as well! Just a great purchase overall!

The camera itself is good. Nice and clear video. However, the app and even the web page are horrible. I cannot erase multiple videos at once on the app, just one at a time. I can do this on the web page, however, I have to click several buttons to finally erase the videos. It is annoying. I have had to approve my browser several times after saying is safe several times. I cannot be signed in on multiple devices(phone, tablet), only one at a time. I get signed out of my app on the phone several times. With the so-called smart notifications the camera will still notify me when there is just regular motion when I don't want it to. I have to go into library itself and select only people and vehicles for example. App is poorly made and unnecessarily difficult to navigate. Very poor! Note: for the quality, value and ease of use, I am rating camera, not the app. It is hard to recommend this camera, because the app is so bad.

We love the clarity of the video and sound of our Arlo Essential Spotlight cameras. With our set of four, we are easily able to monitor all four sides of our wrap around porch and our yard. The notifications to our phone when the system is armed lets us know when a person, animal or car enters our property. I love the 2 way audio which allows us to communicate with people on our porch. We have a 12 year old child with special needs who loves to walk on the porch. This has been a wonderful way to see (and hear) exactly where he is at all times and be able to talk to him through the 2 way audio. I highly recommend these cameras.

These cameras are amazing? I had the night owl wire free and I returned those to get these and let me tell you these blow everything out of the water as far as Video and audio quality go you can’t get any better. The app is also the best home security app because there’s so many options for each of your cameras and even with all the options it’s simple to use. The set up was also a breeze I charged them connected them all within 5 minutes and set them around the outside of the house in less than 30 minutes. I would recommend this product for anyone looking for home security needs.

The camera are amazing they do have a little delay but not to bad they do have great quality and the battery lasts forever it does detect everything. Works amazing happy with them

This is an add on camera to 2 existing. Works really well and nice clear picture for that extra bit if security. Pleased with purchase , ordered online and pick up within an hour.

We have only had the camera up for a few days but so far it seems to be working fine. Very clear. My only concern is that the battery died in less than 2 days. I'm a little concerned about that. May have to get a solar charger to fix this issue.

I am a new user of Arlo cameras. I found with minimal reading it was easy to program the cameras. After set up I was very satisfied with the picture quality. The notifications come through quickly. Very easy to mount the cameras. We are using our cameras at home and then we take them with us, using them on our motorhome when traveling. We have an extra set of mounts,so all we do is take the cameras off the mounts on the home and screw them on the motorhome mounts. A very versatile product. I have a background in surveillance equipment working in Law Enforcement and Corporate Security for over 35 years.

Very Happy I purchased the camers they are very clear The solar panels are working great never have to change the battery. They held up great in the storm.
