Bought one and I'm pretty disappointed. I have to turn the camera off unless I'm expecting a package or the battery is dead in a month. Oh, and of course, the battery can't be swapped out and replaced with a fully charged one like in my previous camera? Way to go Arlo! Poor design and execution.....

Really doesn’t record much along with having to buy a membership after three months for them not to really work good. I can walk right past them and they still won’t see me at times. If you’re looking for security cameras these aren’t it.

Inferior to the pro in picture quality, video and alert lag and the battery life is poor. Considering the fact that you have to physically remove the device from the wall to charge, the battery life is by far the most limiting factor on this device. Spend the extra money for a pro kit or buy another brand. This is the third Arlo product I have owned and seriously considering going to other brands after this.

Could Not Connect Directly to Wireless Router

Our Arlo hub is too old for this camera, but you are supposed to be able to connect it directly to a wireless router. It wouldn't connect. After a lot of time on chat with Arlo Support, which was pretty generic and unhelpful, it still wouldn't work, so we had to return it.

The Arlo Essential Spotlight camera does connect directly to WiFi, but you need to ensure you are connecting to a 2.4 GHz network.

I am going on two months of my essential spot light not connecting and support has no idea why or how to fix it. They just keep telling me to repeat the same steps over and over even though I tell them it’s not working. I would not recommend Arlo to anyone and support is a waste of time. Oh did I mention I pay for a subscription and they won’t compensate or pause it until they can resolve the issue. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON ARLO!

You only have to subscribe to an Arlo Secure plan if you want to enjoy these features: cloud storage, object detection, activity zones, and video history.
