Very pleased with the purchase. Very easy set up- straight out of the box. The spotlight option is a nice bonus for this camera and the colors were vibrant and clear. The cost was best I’ve seen so far when browsing for a bargain. It’s nice that I can check my home when I’m away.

So far so good! I switched from blink and Arlo are by far so much better. Blink did the job in the moment but Arlo just through out it all, all day every day they get the job done. App isn’t too shabby either and quite easy to situate through it, setup was a breeze. No complaints here

Very happy with the system. I almost didn't purchase because of reviews written so I am here to set things straight from my use. 1) Lag Notes: People not receiving notifications in a timely manner need to check their internet speeds and hardware. I am on 1000mbps fiber using IP pass-through to an NetGear Nighthawk AX12. There is a 3-5 second delay at worst which is great for a full wireless solution with no base. I don't know why people are reporting 15-20 second delays but I have not had these issues. If you have the original hardware from your ISP and a lot of devices (I have 27 Hue lights, a doorbell, 4 cameras, motion sensors, chimes, and Sonos in every room.) And don't have a router capable of routing that many channels, you will experience lags and issues. 2) Resolution Notes: If you are wanting to use this as your actual home security for your home with a yard go with the Pro's. I live in an apartment with 2 entry points and only a patio. I use these just to be able to check in on my stuff and hopefully ward off an intruder SHOULD that happen. Video is solid for the price BUT if you have a lot of criminal activity in your area and have a house with a larger yard you want to monitor, the Pros will do better with low light AND the extra Resolution will be good for punching in on a further out part of your yard while remaining clear. 3) Ease of Use Notes: I had a TON of issues getting mine to connect to wifi. Finally I realized my phone had never had the 2.4Ghz band added as a trusted network and it was blocking the connection (Normally i use the 5Ghz because i have wifi 6 capabilities with my phone, router, and network which gives me 700mbps over wifi to my phone). So this was user error not device error. After I enabled it in my phone (Samsung Note 10+) everything connected with ease and was done in about 5 minutes for all 4 cameras. As far as mounting, if you know how to use a power drill, install anchors with a mallot and mark holes this will take 3 mins per camera. 4) Battery Notes: I have had my 4 cameras right at 2 weeks. One of them is at 86%, the rest are at 91-93%. Turn off animal and car detection unless applicable, and disarm in rooms you are in to reduce false activations. My batteries are holding out great doing this. Pro Tip: Order a few 10 ft micro USB cables and use USB wall warts. When you need to charge (if your using cameras inside or near an outlet) plug in the wall wart and string the USB up to charge so you don't have to take the camera down. Obviously I use 3 of my 4 cameras inside rooms of my apartment so this works for me, if they are outside less likely this will work but for people like me this is how I handle charging without messing up my angles.

I have this hooked up in front of my house overlooking corner of the yard. This thing picks up motion from moving leaves, hence the battery wont last more than 2 weeks. I have disabled motion, person recognition. Still battery wont last more than 2 weeks. Unless recharging a mounted camera every 2 week is your favorite past time don’t buy this thing.

Good picture, no instructions on how to set them up. The company is totally useless when trying to get help. You need assistance, YouTube is more helpful. the cams were inexpensive and not hard to get them to sync up to the phone. Trying to program them is another thing. The product is good but the lack of instruction is baffling.

If you have busy foot or vehicle traffic area I do not recommend. Even at the lowest settings and battery save the battery still drains very quickly. While you can select to only be alerted for human and animal the camera still records all vehicle movements which drains battery faster. After setting “zone” areas I did not receive any more alerts and the camera did not record anything. I contacted Arlo tech who were not very helpful. If a car happens to past while a human is detected the camera records the car and no longer acknowledges the human present. The app is not very simple to use compared to ring, blink and a basic nanny camera app. I waited too long to return them and now I’m stuck unless I re-sell them. Otherwise it picks up sound really good and night vision is the only positive part about the camera.

      Hi,

Thanks for sharing your review. We are sorry to hear you battery is not lasting as long as expected. One of the reasons is why your battery may be getting drained too quickly is due to the amount of notifications being received. If too many notifications are being received, please read the following article: https://kb.arlo.com/1178858.

If your activity zones are not working properly, read this article to learn how to troubleshoot: https://kb.arlo.com/000062452.

We have five Arlo cameras ranging from the original, essential, and pro. I like the Essential. It has a spotlight and a two way microphone. It can be connected directly to wifi and does not need to be connected to the hub. The only drawback is that the camera has to be taken down to be charged. The battery does not come out. With my other arlos, the battery compartment can be opened and the batteries swapped out easily, losing no monitoring time.

Very easy to setup after fully charging the unit. Mounting was simple with hardware that is provided. Picture is clear and sharp viewed on my Iphone, the battery life seems short but I have been using the camera a lot moving it to different locations, it is easy to charge with a usb cable.
