Runs off wifi so make sure you have an unlimited amount. A notification will appear when someone or something passes camera, more frequently passed cameras drain the battery quickly. Camera quality is great .

Greta quality picture but does the larger battery make a difference….Not in my setup. Still have to charge at least once a month. You have to subscribe to a plan to view recordings.

Hi JeffR, The Essential spotlight camera battery lasts up to 6 months with Average use. Average use assumes that you are using Optimized or Best Battery Life video settings and that your cameras record for approximately five minutes per day. Too many triggers such as heavy traffic may cause the battery to drain much more rapidly. You can try adjusting your cameras positioning to lowering the sensitivity to a desired level to help with unwanted motion detection. Regards, Arlo Team arlo_us

So so far i like these cameras...i have 2 set up,and a doorbell. I do not have the hub you can buy. Biggest down side is its not wireless and one of the cameras has to get charges 2 times a week...called customer service and waiting for a resolution

50% rubbish. 2 of the 4 cameras are already non functional. I am trying to get an RMA from Arlo to have them replaced. Shame on Arlo for charging real money for this…stuff. I got so frustrated with the essential cams failing that I replaced them with a couple of Kasa cams. I am currently running 2x Arlo Pro 3, the surviving 2x Arlo essential and 2x Kasa (one outdoor and one indoor PTZ) Kasa is far less expensive per camera and I find them a snap to set up, we’ll see if TP-Link can outdo Netgear.

These were pretty easy to set up. The one we have outside which we have on all the time, does use the battery relatively fast, but we haven't had to charge it yet. We also got these while they were on sale, so I'd wait for a sale to buy again.

My family and I where looking for a little more security for our home. We have had Arlo in the past and we where very happy with them. setup was not hard and the nice part with this set up is there was no bace station to setup as well is just logs in to the wifi and they work off that. love the fact that it has a light. it is not the supper bright but it will light up what it is pointing at and you can see what's going on. battery life is relative and you do have to charge them in my case for the high traffic areas around every 2-3 months.
